  1. Past hour
  2. Cheers Bernd, and you're welcome. I thought this one might appeal to you. I also grabbed that 'airshow assistant' addon and plan to have a bit of a play with Horten formation flying - that should be fun! Cheers Andreas! Yep, that is definitely something special - really glad it came along. Cheers Ryan! I feel a Homer SImpson moment coming on - "mmmmmm, shiiineeeyyyyy, reddddddddd" (sounds better in my head than it looks written out <grin>)
  3. Hi, flying on active Air Effects, and encountered a significant issue flying the plane starting pitching up to a stall when I entered a storm cloud around PHNL. The plane was pitching up despite command for down, and there was no way to stop the pitch up, it eventually stalled, with or without Autopilot engaged. I noticed something smaller when flying into another sort of cloud on takeoff, the plane was pitching up when the FD was actually commanding down with autopilot on. This was on our A330-900. I am posting this because I tried the same thing with default MSFS weather and did not encounter this.
  4. Excellent question! New Zealand as a prime example...
  5. If there's no METAR data available through NOAA, it will be using GFS global forecast data (incl. wind, temp, dew, clouds, precip, convective activity and snow depth) that we analyze to create a cloud and vis scene based on skew-t-type predictions, while some other conditions (like baro pressure) use interpolation methods from data that is available. The METAR text report in conditions screen shows much of these specifics.
  6. The problem was only on AvSim but seems to have calmed down this afternoon. I did submit reports when prompted. So unusual as Firefox is very stable.
  7. The talking head's lips move so fast it looks like a blur! 😁
  8. Where does it get weather from for countries with no / few metars?
  9. Thank you for your support! Lots in the pipeline! Firstly we have some post-release bugs found, working on that to post an update very, very soon. From there, it's based on feedback! What do you want to see changed or added?
  10. Last few to round things off. Still at YSSY initially as the evening settles in and the lights come on By this point, as it was looking good in the dark, I took a quick tool round the previous parts of the trip to grab a few night shots, so back to the seaplane base, and there was this rather nicely lit motor cruiser in the bay there. Looks like the party is still going on I guess still a warm night, most people are outside Back to the bridge At least you can't see the awful PG at night And one final shot before we go And once again, I'm amazed by how good this sim can look. As ever, all these are 4k and look much better full screen. All taken on an HDR monitor using the Game Bar screen grab which automatically captures an HDR image and a corresponding SDR ".PNG" file, which is what all my posts are based on.
  11. I don't know how to eliminate commercials on Youtube but I know how to speed them up 6 or 7 times faster. I happen to use Firefox browser for everything. I installed "Custom Video Speed for Youtube" browser extension (free). l set the hotkeys for speed up and slow down to: - and = ..no doubt other web browsers have similar addon extensions. When a commercial starts to play I just hold down the = key and watch the speed numbers increase in the extension pop up speedometer as the video keeps playing. And the Youtube display of commercial add time remaining now decreases super fast. The talking head selling deodorant or fast food flies by at lightning speed, and as it approaches 0, I just hold down the - key and watch the speedometer slow back to 1.0 (normal). Two key presses to restore my sanity.
  12. Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can help me on this. As you can see the windows on the HS748 are a little funky. I've tried taking out the glass dds from the texture folder, no change. There is no file in this aircraft that says "reflections" Could this be because I'm running DX10 (with the fixer)? Any clue or help would be appreciated!
  13. Aside from the sim itself... MSFS Addons Linker FSLTL We Love VFR (any of them)
  14. Okay I think I'm going to just buy it! Even though I know it's JUST been released, what's in the pipeline / roadmap for the future of this product?
  15. Has anyone heard anything about AS compatibility with 3rd party software such as Pilot 2 ATC?
  16. Continuing my Sydney tour, now heading over to take a look around YSSY Seems like a big old place. No idea how much ground it covers but feels like a lot. Sun heading down around about this point on the tour Somebody's parked something posh there Ah yes, the shark. Meet Syd the Shark (well, what else is he going to be called?) I'll stop here for now. Part three has a couple more of YSSY as the evening sets in, then a few night shots of some of the ground previously covered to finish

  18. I just completed a flight, and then Installed ActiveSky, and launched the flight at the same airport using Live Weather, , and the clouds are Fantastic!!!!!
  19. I think he means if the METAR changes after 15 minutes but the interval is set to 30 minutes, the in-game weather will only change after 30 minutes (when the intervall is due).
  20. Happy to see so many Asian airports in that list. Hoping that 2024 improves those parts of the world even more.
  21. Passive Depiction Mode Passive mode is used with live weather and allows MSFS’s internal live weather depiction to take full control of weather depiction in the simulator, while Active Sky FS provides Active Air Effects and all other non-depiction features (mapping, planning, voice features, conditions report, web companion app, etc.) This can provide better regional variation and cloud variations outside of Preset control, recommended for LIVE WEATHER VFR and casual flights where visuals and effects are more important than weather conditions accuracy. Active Air Effects Provided in either depiction mode, Active Air Effects enhance your flight with turbulence, drafts and more: Clear air turbulence Internal MSFS turbulence compatibility (for combined ASFS-applied and internal MSFS-applied turbulence effects) Updrafts Downdrafts Microbursts Thunderstorm vicinity turbulence and draft effects Gusts, wind variation and gust-related turbulence
  22. It is just the one setting that seems to be there with any time interval? Download Interval under General Options, is this correct? so not sure what you mean by a download of 15 mins and configured for 30 mins?
  23. First of three posts from an exploration around Sydney. YRAY is the Sydney Seaplanes package from Pyramid8Studios via Orbx, plus FlyTampa's YSSY and Orbx's Sydney cityscape. ALtogether they make up a pretty impressive environment. Unfortunately, a lot of the MS/Asobo PG around here is pretty poor, or at least it was today. I still never know if particular areas are just badly done or if it's just that the servers are having a bad day/hour/week or whatever. I spent the whole afternoon just pootling around, took literally hundreds of shots, but I've pulled out a few to share. Basic trip starts at the Sydney Seaplanes setup, which is very nicely done. Lots of animations and detail, and just my kind of thing. Then off to the harbour, and a tour round the Luna Park, which is also upgraded with the YRAY package. Again, some nice detail and animations but unfortunately backdropped by some of the worst PG I've ever seen in the sim. Impossible to get the sort of images I wanted without showing masses of truly awful c*ap in the background. Then off around Sydney itself, again, the modelled stuff in the Orbx package is ok but some of the PG doesn't bear close inspection, and then on to YSSY. By this time the sun is going down and the lights coming on. So at that point, once it was dark, I took a quick drone visit back to YRAY and the harbour to grab some night time shots. So spread over three posts, but hopefully some of you will enjoy the trip. I certainly did, and will be back there in a boat at some point. Anyway, starting at YRAY - Looks like a nice place to chill with a cold one (or two) I'll spare you any more shots of the crowd, so let's head off Didn't actually spot any sharks around here, but there is one later . . . Head under the bridge, and parked in front of the worst PG you'll ever see, is Luna Park amusment park I have a real soft spot for this sort of place, and the tackier the better. All down to being raised as a kid in Southend-on-Sea (a complete misnomer as it's actually on the mouth of the Thames, one of the grubbiest, muddiest, most industrialised (back then) and polluted rivers in the UK) where candy floss is considered a gourmet delight. So now, let's head off to the big city! One for any sports fans. Nice touch here is the changing display on the big screen in the cricket ground And to finish part one, off to YSSY
  24. What did I miss? I thought "Active Air effects" is turbulence (and drafts etc.).
