    Dushanbe to Beijing

I'm glad your plane's high fuel consumption (let me recall, "....consumes Kerosene the way a Siberian drinks Vodka...)...🙂...takes you to all these exotic places just to refuel! BTW, many years ago, my long-time (American Taxi) driver was a Mongolian, who used to travel home (Ulaanbaatar) regularly, and tell me about the bitter-cold winters of Mongolia...I could trust him at 3am in a Chicago for a O'Hare Pick up... I notice Altai is far south-west of Ulaanbaatar...but, as you say, probably in the middle of nowhere... Nice pictures, all; especially liked (a) the banking ILS capture shot (b) the night-cockpits of the Russian Green
  3. Jim, I disabled TomatoShade and Reshade and updated to 4.5. Everything looks WONDERFUL! Just upgraded from a 1060 to a 2070 and I am finally pleased with the purchase. Thanks for the help! Screenshot!

You're a stand-up guy and a man of fine character, Jim. You can count on my prayers as you face this trial. Philippians 4:6-7 comes to mind during times like this, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ *******."

As you know Jim, I've been there, done that and have the scars but that was 1988 and medicine has come a long way since then. Believe me - a POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE goes a long way in fighting your battle. We have your back - you will be missed. Get your wna back here ASAP. Best wishes and prayers, Vic

  20. AI parking is not a function of the flight plan...and the only part the AI plane plays is the airline ID in the aircraft.cfg file. Most issues are due to bad airline data or parking spot type assigned to the parking spots in the airport file (e.g. ADE/AFX/AFCAD). ESP-based sims have always been flaky in how they park AI...this is a limitation of the sim itself. Regards

Jim, I'm already looking forward to your post one year from now when you are going to say: 'Cancer? What cancer? Oh, wait, okay, there was something like this...' Fight, win and enjoy life!

    Ifly 737NG 30% off

I also think it was at 69$ on flight one at one time...could be mistaken though..either way still a great deal for what you get out of the IFLY 737
  23. xEnviro didn't solve it in any meaningful sense except visually. Which I know is the first thing we notice, especially at high altitudes, but it's not the real problem. The real problem is that X-Plane uses a primitive 2D weather engine that can only generate weather from a single injected real world METAR (or fixed weather menu setting) in a circle around your plane. The weather conditions are always the same in a 360 degree circle around you. The underlying weather engine can't represent discrete weather systems, like a bank of CB's you see off in the distance that you need to fly around or above, something different than the weather you're actually flying "in". You're only ever flying within one weather system centered around your plane, until a different METAR kicks in and replaces it completely. Sometimes with smoke and mirrors to hide the transition, but that's what's happening. Until Laminar re-writes the underlying weather engine for a full 3D system with more than one METAR active, or until one of the add-on developers figures out how to replace the entire underlying weather engine from scratch, this is what we're stuck with. So just speaking for myself, I don't get too bothered about "clouds out to the horizon" because I know it's not a faithful representation of injected real world weather. The circle of clouds is just an artifact of how primitive the underlying "weather centered around your plane" system is. /rant... sorry, this is a major gripe of mine, and it probably won't be addressed until XP12, if then.

    GTN 750 on a Tablet?

Is there anyone using the GTN 750 on a tablet? I think it would be a great (more realistic and efficient) way to interface with P3D. A search did not turn up much except for someone using an "external touch screen monitor in undocked window". I did look into this a number of months ago, and what I found available then was F1 Tech's expensive G750 which would (apparently) run on a Windows tablet [only].....So, I am hoping that some simmers are successfully running the 750 on an external tablet. If so, any guidance is appreciated.....thanks, bill.

    Help with 4k TV

Is your frame rate target in P3D set to "unlimited"? If you set it to a fixed value, the CPU will be loaded up to its capacity trying to produce frames to fill the lookahead buffer...with unlimited it'll only produce frames at the VSync rate. Some other settings, like large autogen LOD, dense autogen, and heavy AI loads can also slam the CPU. But if you're stutter-free at 30 but with 100% CPU all the time, I suspect you have something other than unlimited set as your target. Also, FFTF Dynamic does some good on giving the CPU a bigger time slice when scenery/texture processing loads are minimal (like on the ground). Last, there's no info here on your system...could be related to system power/performance issues as well. 100% load on a 3 GHz quad-core CPU wouldn't be surprising, for example. Regards

Jim, A bit of a shock to hear this but you have my bestest wishes for a full recovery and my sincere thanks for your past imparted information and help. The assistance you have rendered to so many people will be sorely missed. I am sure there will be very very few people on this forum who do not wish you well. Enjoy your retirement mate and PLEASE consider a comback after you defeat this monster. Best regards Tony Chilcott
