  1. Past hour
  2. I think I have ESP. I see a Bergen --> Oslo hop in my future.
  3. A dsf is a dsf. Initial load in is worst case scenario because it's doing everything, not merely the next batch in the flight path. HDD/SDD are not in the same category. I'm not questioning the controller capabilities or limitations. I'm looking to reduce the HDD armature movement over time. No need to thrash the drive unnecessarily. I'll run with this for a while and monitor jitter during a session. I imagine with spinning rust it will be about the same.
  4. Wow, what a surprise, Andy. A few years ago I watched a video on the US History Channel, where some folks rebuilt the Horten from plans they got from Germany. I don't think it was flyable, but just to look at it was quite something. At that time I thought, how cool it would be to have this in FSX. And now you showed me that inibuilds just launched it. Instant buy! Thank you so much! But also your scenery shots are most impressive!
  5. Many years ago, I had a yellow Fiat 850 Sports Coupe... If only it did not burn out on me!
  6. Unfortunately, the moderation team doesn't want this sort of content on Avsim. We have received a warning, and they moved it here. We had a brief conversation with them over private messaging about the most appropriate location for this sort of content. They referred to the rule which states that there is no place for commercial content from commercial developers on Avsim unless it is initiated and discussed by non-commercial users. Unless their stance changes, we unfortunately won't be able to post our updates in the future on Avsim, as there doesn't seem to be a way forward. We understand the need for commercial rules and the old wild west of commercial spam. (I've personally run several large forums, so I understand the position.) However, we feel that there is probably a case for developers to showcase their work to you guys here, as is the case on other forums around the traps. It would be cool to get a dedicated forum space; that way, all of that content goes into one space to keep everyone happy, it grows the forum's use cases, and it keeps it nice and clean for moderation purposes. This is our personal view. P.S. I've commented here not as a beat-up on moderators or site decisions, as people do this stuff for free and put in the hard yards. It's their and the community's space, not ours. I've only posted this to explain the situation clearly.
  7. I'm starting to prefer these presets to live weather. Never can get a favorable wind with live weather anyway. 🙂
  8. Not mentioned, but in the Content Manager there are updates too, and of course you have to "buy" the CU6 from the Marketplace to complete the homework.
  9. I'm oversampling at a higher resolution than that (I don't recall the exact figure) for my Pico 4 and I get mid 40s typically. So it might not be too bad.
  10. Today I dived again back into the 1930s. The Zeppelin is just great fun and after watching a couple of YT videos at my leisure, I can now handle it to some extent. Of course, the King Air doesn't fit in there at all 🙂 Above the Bieler lake Above the Neuchâtel lake Place of the navigator Liquid sustenance keeps the spirit up on these long journeys We got maps of all parts of the world Lake Constance, we have reached the Mainau island Friedrichshafen gradually comes into sight Getting the other zeppelin out, when I try to land doesn't make my landing any easier Done
  11. I think that initial load times aren't that good of an indicator. Testing complex ground scenery like X-America/Europe with default mesh while loading a tile in-flight should be much more indicative as too little scenery workers mean longer DSF load times and thus framerate drops and some stuttering. Can't think of a use case for limiting scenery workers either. File read sequencing is managed by the HDD/SDD controller, while clock speed and thus thermal management is completely up to the CPU. If anything, one would exchange maybe slightly higher framerates (due to less communication between processes) for less smoothness (longer scenery loads and thus the aforementioned stutters). And as far as I know Autoortho has its own tile downloader workers. At least there should (still) be a config entry to manage their amount.
  12. No way! What an experience! I managed to get a night visit to RAF Wittering in the late eighties with a few other young lads to watch them being serviced. They gave me a minute or tow in the seat, and I will never forget it, as the Harrier was my favourite military aircraft at the time - great days! I hope your hearing is still intact!
  13. There is absolutely nothing new here (in the video), and what is being discussed is very late. It was all talked about either after the teaser (last year) or straight after the developer twitch session last month. And as for the Vision Jet / September comment from Jorg Neumann, does IslandSimPilot really think he was the only one to pick up on it? Because he wasn't. Does he really think the rest of the community is that unobservant compared to him? Because we aren't. It was just the kind of comment Jorg likes to make - he likes playing with us, and that is how it was taken at the time. The hint to the release date might mean something, or it might be nothing, it is simply Jorg having his usual bit of fun, and it is all worth nothing if they start having problems getting it out of the door anyway (Like SU15! ). So it has all been said and done before, and all a bit old hat. I am beginning to think YouTube is becoming a bit of a waste of time just lately, with everyone chasing the 'algorithm' for their channel. Still, don't forget to like, subscribe and hit that notification button!
  14. Lol, My comment is coloured by experience of working at RAF St Athan in the early eighties, they used to air test Harriers after maintenance which included a period Hover taxying close to the Hangar I worked in...One pegasus in close proximity was painful, 2 would would probably be injurious P.S. In the 70s the RAF was considering a four engined vertical take off and landing transport (4 'thrust vectoring turbofans) it never got made but aspects of its design fed into the HS 146 , (Bae 146) Google: Hawker siddeley HS-681
  15. It appears with the latest update you get a new Madagascar Livery 🤣 Where are those penguins ???? Let the troubleshooting begin ......
  16. Today
  17. How about the cloud layers with ASFS, do they rise when you get on higher altitudes aswell or are we able to see real layers which are on lower altitudes?
  18. I can guarantee it would. most likely you would mostly fly the same type GA aircraft you flew in real life instead of airliners. 😀
  19. Pimax (who makes the Pimax Crystal line of VR headsets) recommends using a DP switcher and cable. The one below is the one they recommend. You can't run another device at the same time, but with this you can instantly switch off one DP connection and turn on another. Pimax recommended swithcher https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-switcher-Bi-Directional-Switcher-Switching/dp/B0CB4SH1BD/ Pimax recommended cable https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Braided-32-4Gbps-Compatible-Monitor/dp/B07VVJZJ2P/
  20. Yes, basically it has a Harrier under each wing!
  21. Funny Bird that flying narwhal 😂😎 cheers 😉
  22. Does anyone know if there are newly updated simbrief profiles for the current revised Fenix models. Lee
  23. Today i did the first flight after the update ( now V.2.0.0.407 ) and just to say it was just BEAUTIFUL so superb smooth on my old Rig, so love that update. No problems with GSX with this update but i had some with the last build.. Great work Fenixguys !! 👍 Flight was from EDDS to HEGN around 4h.. cheers 😉
  24. I'm having the same issue. Using the Hc tool as downloaded doesn't seem to work (unless I forget how to load profiles). Would just changing the file destinations to V6 everywhere it says V5 solve this?
