PA-38 Tomahawk (MSFS) | Product Overview | Just Flight
F737MAX replied to Poppet's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
@Poppet!! Good to see you back on Avsim. JustFlight really is a quality developer. I prefer airliners, though that preview video is very tempting. -

That is because you are underestimating the complexity of developing a software like MSFS rather than using it. At least that mistake Jorg is not making. -
As a tribute to the ANZAC's, I had a flight over the Australian memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France in the Jenny. They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.

Of ALL the bugs and missing features in MSFS, the full screen one (which can be got around in a few seconds) must be the most insignificant I have ever seen. It needed to be fixed, but I am surprised people make so much noise about this but not about other issues. And in any case, I can confirm it IS definitely fixed in SU15 beta, just so people don't lose any sleep. Enjoy your missing DX12 texture issues though!

Good, maybe now he can understand our frustrations with seeing the same issues year on year and never getting fixed. -
didn't you know its time consuming switching from full to min screens 🙂

Local Historical Disgrace for the world updates?
bobcat999 replied to Fielder's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Well, we should be grateful it is not just another flying boat. Although it was a near miss going for a short Brothers design - they did loads. Although I would make an exception for the Short Sunderland flying boat. A classic, and I went onboard the one at the Hendon Museum recently. I could have quite happily made my home on it! -
JF PA-38 Tomahawk coming with A2A-style features

It would be like putting General Grabbers on a Renault 4. A bit silly. -
Haha, it’s sort of the same in the region of Norway I live in. When something’s ok, it’s probably outstanding 😅 Btw tried historical weather for the first time yesterday. Went back just a couple hours as I was a bit late to start a flight during daylight hours in the time zone where I live. It’s extremely simple to use. I just check the “sync” bow and set the time in MSFS.

Historical weather planned for MSFS 2024
Cpt_Piett replied to abrams_tank's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Same. However I tried it yesterday for the first time in ASFS, but only went back around two hours do do the flight during daylight. So it’s probably something I’ll use more. Not sure about going back weeks or even months though. -
Yes, and don't forget all of their light aircraft they have to support, including the local legend series for the sim, where they do lots, including the just released Do-31 and the upcoming Skyvan. I will say that some of the issues with the A300 / A310 seemed to be due to WASM issues in the simulator that have now been fixed (according to the recent developer twitch session), so it is worth giving them the benefit of the doubt on those issues. I wonder if the WASM stack overflow issue mentioned was causing the infamous drop out of the sky issue, as any stack overflow event is normally pretty catastrophic.

Whoaa bush tires on a Tomahawk?! I guess that would be… fun 😅 Trying to image it with some Alaskan monster tires -

Maybe they want to keep the lights on because they'd like to continue to milk those who stay on MSFS2020 via marketplace sales? Maybe they anticipate that the two sims address somewehat different markets or audiences, so more users than we assume would stay on 2020? -
Yes, we definitely prefer a more direct approach, which often seems rude to people who're not used to it. 😇 In Germany, there's a saying which literally tanslated says "Not scolding is praise enough". So I'd agree the title to be meant in a positive way by Emanuel.

Historical weather planned for MSFS 2024
orchestra_nl replied to abrams_tank's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I do wonder why that 24 hour limit is there. I suppose that once the sim can handle historical weather (or rather out-of-sync "live weather"), it might also be able to handle 48 hours old weather, or 300 days, as long as the data is there. It might simply be that their contract with MeteoBlue does not allow them to store weather information on Microsoft servers or perhaps they managed to stretch the way the sim uses weather without actually changing the code to allow for real historical weather. -

Very good news for everyone who like to fly with historical weather 🥳 Myself, only fly with Live Weather… -
I believe iniBuilds hired more developers though. So they actually have more developer resources in total. Granted, it may take time to train developers so that they are up to speed on the API (both iniBuild's API and the MSFS API), and they are also up to speed with certain knowledge needed to develop aircraft (if they don't have that knowledge already). But assuming iniBuilds can get those developers up to speed, they can afford to spend the same number of developers per aircraft project. Then it's simply a matter if they can get the proper management in place to oversee their projects. It's the same thing with PMDG. I believe PMDG hired more developers as well, so they are now working on multiple projects at the same time - 777, 737 Max, and the secret unspecified project. For PMDG, the challenge is management, that is, can Randazzo oversee all the different project and ensure quality, and if he can't, then did Randazzo hire managers (or promote older employees to managers) to help oversee all the multiple projects.

Possibly, although I noted from elsewhere that: "Professional certification is not decided yet for MSFS 2024, but ‘experimentation’ is ongoing." There's a reason why the more complex details (e.g. Garmin units) are being added to the platform and the expense incurred of creating a digital twin Earth. And it isn't for 'casual gamers' on Xbox. -
Historical weather planned for MSFS 2024
orchestra_nl replied to abrams_tank's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
24 hours will be sufficient for most of us. Except for those wanting to fly in a particular season or recreate a real world situation of course. Hopefully they will also add historical traffic to match. -
April 2024 Asobo Developer Livestream
bobcat999 replied to David Mills's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I laughed out loud in disbelief when is was said about 700 people are working on the project, with 200 on the core team at Asobo. Really? What are that many people producing then? I don't see output from 700 people. If there are, they must be working part time one hour per day, with just one on the bug fixing, and another one reading their own forums for about one minute per week. Like I said earlier, the response to the long running tiling issues in DX11 / DX12 was appalling. I am glad that they got called out in the live questions over their response to this, even though it did seem to upset Jorg. I am just worried about Jayne's job now after she wouldn't let the issue go, as it did seem to rattle them - but good on her! In one fleeting instant, it shows they can't take the community loyalty for granted. As for the comments on 'why waste time on 2020', I think it is obvious they won't now. The next SU is in 2025 (which I find unbelievable with all the current outstanding issues), and any other improvements will be back ported from MSFS 2024 (only where they can), which costs them next to nothing. I think it is clear to see where their focus lies now (they basically admitted it in this twitch session), so I can only hope we are going to see MSFS2024 earlier than expected, or at least not delayed past August / September. -
