  1. Past hour
  2. Do not recall the term from my days in the weather service. The definition I find is: “CAVOK” (ceiling and visibility OK). CAVOK is used when there is no significant weather, the visibility is 10 km or greater, and the ceilings are greater than 5,000 ft. (boldface not mine). Not often used that I can find. Perhaps merits a discussion, but not an argument.
  3. Yeah, I read the post about the parking mod causing issue, but I'm not using any parking mod, but still can't get AS to work. All I get is clear skys. Maybe I'll try will my community folder disabled.
  4. Ok, sorry to be the NOOB but the OPs post saying they were on 1.36.20 caught my eye... I've got the premium version and all mandatory updates installed. My son (standard version) is on 1.37.12. How can this be? Discovered the other night when trying to fly multiplayer together and we can't see each other. My sim thinks it's updated but reports that its on 1.36.20. Can anyone help?
  5. Sounds like my issue, Tom. This is what I did, step by step: 1) Right-click on Steam status icon and then select Library. 2) In recent games there should be MSFS. Click in the MSFS picture. 3) Then, between the big green Play button and the "Last Played" date, there should be a cloud with a checkmark. If you have the error, there should be an exclamation sign instead of the checkmark. Click it. 4) There will appear a box with two big options: one about data in cloud and another one about using your local data and overwriting cloud data with that. Choose the latter. Your issue should be fixed...or in the worst case, replaced by getting stuck "checking for updates" 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ (word-not-allowed you, Microsoft!)
  6. After flying for about 15 minutes the cockpit screens go dark in P3D v6. Anyone else having this problem?
  7. CAVOK doesn't mean zero clouds. You can have OVC060 measured (but omitted in the human made observation) and still have CAVOK conditions, it's all in compliance with ICAO Annex 3. Assuming blue skies and validating that assumption against ASFS (or any wx addon for that matter) based on "CAVOK" is inconclusive.
  8. Where does reality GTN 750 store flight plan library? thanks
  9. I think I know the issue but not specifically how to solve it. If anyone has web design experience, it would be handy. I *think* it is to do with .css files, which for webpages specify the styling of the page, including fonts. If anyone wishes to wade in, it would be great 🙂
  10. Today
  11. If you then proceed to SLC website and view My Flights you should see the evaluation there, like this done in the PMDG 738. That plane does have a couple of issues in SLC though, mostly all around GSX and controlling plane doors:
  12. I am having a problem with my PTT operation. I am using two monitors, one dispaying the sim (P3Dv4.5) and the secondary monitor displaying Merlin, vPilot, Navigraph charts and Active Sky. This is the configuration I have been using for years. The problem I am having with the PTT is that I have to select the secondary monitor with the mouth prior to press my PTT key (currently Ctrl). Otherwise the Ctrl pressing has no effect. I am afraid that the problem might have to see with the two monitor configuration. Any help? I am running P3Dv4.5 under Win11. Kind Regards, Domingos
  13. Yes. It would also automatically send historical wind data to the FMC, if you upload those to Simbrief (via the Simbrief downloader... which in this case actually acts as an uploader), since the Fenix and others get it directly from the Simbrief API. And yes, for METAR they'd have to intercept the weather data ActiveSky injects. Certainly not technically impossible, just a question of how much people ask for it. I have a feeling FBW will be the first to integrate it. And maybe, just maybe, they might also be the first to base their weather radar on ActiveSky (assuming it's technically possible).
  14. These are all good suggestions, you should post them in the HiFi forum to be looked into.
  15. Yeah, but in our post-facts societies, what's more important are vibes, feels and narratives... Anyway, while MSFS has been a whirlwind that's made it extremely difficult for a lot of the incumbent/legacy developers, we have seen Schumpeter's economic concept of creative destruction in effect. Bold new devs, such as Pyreegue, Fenix Sim, FBW, WorkingTitle and FSLTL have led the way to even more realism. A2A, JustFlight, AIG, FSReborn and Jo Erlend Sund have all upped their respective games to make the most of the new tools available to them. A golden era indeed.
  16. Yep me to! I'd rather see VFR sectional instead LOL
  17. This would be better for us VR users who don't want to remove the HMD to click a setting on the monitor, or if there was a way to integrate it into a toolbar window that could be another option.
  18. And forgot to mention, but no conflicts at all for the ORBX Key West airport.
  19. I have this scenery and think it is very well done. The addition of NASKW and the USCG cutters are new in this version and a welcome update. This scenery depicts the airfield from a somewhat earlier period, as it has the new tower and does not have the shelter structures on the flight line, but this does not bother me as the old tower is an iconic building for the base. It is nice to be able to fly an F-35 out of here then rendezvous with a moving carrier a few miles north of Key West with super carrier pro.
  20. Hmm that is very strange. I haven't done much VFR flight maneuvers post patch. but did two hand flown instrument approaches and didn't notice much problems. Did you try to delete existing SWS PC-12 installation? I had problems with SWS installer in the past, so now I manually delete pervious installations before each update
  21. Yeah, I ran it manually three or four times, and even turned off my AV, Turned out a PC reboot was needed.
  22. Not sure what to tell you....FL350.....Looks awesome, but I do agree that on the ground looks better than anyone else can make it..... Take a look at this: https://imgur.com/a/0WfLGAO
  23. When they first started talking about Pay TV in the 50's or 60's, everyone hated the idea. We didn't realize that it would show better content and all ad free. When I got back from Germany in 1976 (I was in the Army) and moved to a house around 1980, we couldn't get TV reception and had to get cable. I very quickly decided it was well worth the price, along with a bundle of movie channels like HBO, Cinemax and Showtime. A few years ago we dropped Dish because it didn't have local channels and went to rabbit ears. Currently using rabbit ears to receive digital TV local channels but my wife is the only one watching. Hook
  24. well it's not ready to be used with anything in P3D yet. It doesn't respond to anything when firing up Aerosoft A320. Note their Simapp must be running in order to use the hardware. So far just compatibility with MSFS but it is a very nice, robust unit with nice lighting.
