  2. I just completed a flight, and then Installed ActiveSky, and launched the flight at the same airport using Live Weather, , and the clouds are Fantastic!!!!!
  3. I think he means if the METAR changes after 15 minutes but the interval is set to 30 minutes, the in-game weather will only change after 30 minutes (when the intervall is due).
  4. Happy to see so many Asian airports in that list. Hoping that 2024 improves those parts of the world even more.
  5. Passive Depiction Mode Passive mode is used with live weather and allows MSFS’s internal live weather depiction to take full control of weather depiction in the simulator, while Active Sky FS provides Active Air Effects and all other non-depiction features (mapping, planning, voice features, conditions report, web companion app, etc.) This can provide better regional variation and cloud variations outside of Preset control, recommended for LIVE WEATHER VFR and casual flights where visuals and effects are more important than weather conditions accuracy. Active Air Effects Provided in either depiction mode, Active Air Effects enhance your flight with turbulence, drafts and more: Clear air turbulence Internal MSFS turbulence compatibility (for combined ASFS-applied and internal MSFS-applied turbulence effects) Updrafts Downdrafts Microbursts Thunderstorm vicinity turbulence and draft effects Gusts, wind variation and gust-related turbulence
  6. It is just the one setting that seems to be there with any time interval? Download Interval under General Options, is this correct? so not sure what you mean by a download of 15 mins and configured for 30 mins?
  7. First of three posts from an exploration around Sydney. YRAY is the Sydney Seaplanes package from Pyramid8Studios via Orbx, plus FlyTampa's YSSY and Orbx's Sydney cityscape. ALtogether they make up a pretty impressive environment. Unfortunately, a lot of the MS/Asobo PG around here is pretty poor, or at least it was today. I still never know if particular areas are just badly done or if it's just that the servers are having a bad day/hour/week or whatever. I spent the whole afternoon just pootling around, took literally hundreds of shots, but I've pulled out a few to share. Basic trip starts at the Sydney Seaplanes setup, which is very nicely done. Lots of animations and detail, and just my kind of thing. Then off to the harbour, and a tour round the Luna Park, which is also upgraded with the YRAY package. Again, some nice detail and animations but unfortunately backdropped by some of the worst PG I've ever seen in the sim. Impossible to get the sort of images I wanted without showing masses of truly awful c*ap in the background. Then off around Sydney itself, again, the modelled stuff in the Orbx package is ok but some of the PG doesn't bear close inspection, and then on to YSSY. By this time the sun is going down and the lights coming on. So at that point, once it was dark, I took a quick drone visit back to YRAY and the harbour to grab some night time shots. So spread over three posts, but hopefully some of you will enjoy the trip. I certainly did, and will be back there in a boat at some point. Anyway, starting at YRAY - Looks like a nice place to chill with a cold one (or two) I'll spare you any more shots of the crowd, so let's head off Didn't actually spot any sharks around here, but there is one later . . . Head under the bridge, and parked in front of the worst PG you'll ever see, is Luna Park amusment park I have a real soft spot for this sort of place, and the tackier the better. All down to being raised as a kid in Southend-on-Sea (a complete misnomer as it's actually on the mouth of the Thames, one of the grubbiest, muddiest, most industrialised (back then) and polluted rivers in the UK) where candy floss is considered a gourmet delight. So now, let's head off to the big city! One for any sports fans. Nice touch here is the changing display on the big screen in the cricket ground And to finish part one, off to YSSY
  8. What did I miss? I thought "Active Air effects" is turbulence (and drafts etc.).
  9. No, that's not correct. See the product page and depiction specs for details on this.
  10. He didn't understand that ASFS updates according to the update rate configured. That's what the setting is for, to allow you to configure this. It doesn't update until that timer expires. If you get a download 15 minutes, and you have it configured for 30 minutes, it will only update in 15 minutes from now. If you want quicker update rates, you can configure that. There was also apparently a bug that mis-synced the time, I think related to all the back and forth rapid switching and use of other tools at the same time, looking into it.
  11. You are on the latest version...There has been a lot of quirks as of late that manifests themselves in things I have never seen before..Such as, unable to copy text with right click and highlighting, without having to go to the search bar first then come back to be able to copy..Also I have always had trouble with this forum, never going back to where I left off, which is minor...I am on a Mac but have been switching back and forth to Safari (Mac browser) a lot lately...
  12. So did my first flight with historical weather. Who would've thought I'd ever see 17 degrees celsius in Brazil in MSFS 😄 (when I fly it's always high noon over there). Really great feeling. At my destination Sao Paolo - Congonhas (GREAT scenery by PauloRicardo, 100% recommended) I switched over to live weather and compared AS live weather with MSFS live weather and then with a live webcam from the airport. AS cloud depiction was much closer to reality. MSFS showed almost no clouds, just some kind of fog. AS showed broken clouds. METAR is 6000 BKN010. In the webcam it was non-foggy but very cloudy.
  13. Visste ikke at du er fra Norge! Thanks -- great video. Day one purchase for me too, but haven't had a chance to fly from there yet -- but very obviously my money is well spent. I can almost smell the terminal interior!
  14. Gaming interfaces are needed to support gaming input devices. sp
  15. During testing I had FSR running and had no issues. I just left FSR as I had originally.
  16. Does it matter where you install this program?
  17. No, you can't. Minimum is 20% unfortunately. It does not accept 0%.
  18. If we want to use fully AS for both rendering of the weather and the air effects etc. What setting do we put for the weather in the sim?
  19. Ok, in the settings you could in theory set all other turbulences to 0% intensity except terrain turbulence. could have thought about that myself actually....
  20. Today
  21. Yes, default settings. They are different kinds of turbulence effects. It's not just doubling the same effect. To me the effect of both together looked good. Just try and play around with the settings and see if you like it.
  22. What MS/Asobo really need to work on, given that they messed it up since SU7 (but also have made it better since to be fair) is how they reconcile METAR data with global Meteoblue data. The blending is not good as it could be yet, and for someone like me who doesn't really care too much about METAR I found the purely global weather simulation pre-SU7 to be pretty darn good and immersive, and miss it 🙂 At least the core MSFS weather engine is clearly capable of rendering and doing things properly (i.e. clouds), as manual non-live weather shows, and as these sort of weather add-ons show (since they basically just control manual MSFS weather in a fine-grained ways with their own weather data). I am waiting to see what MSFS 2024 improves in METAR and global weather blending, maybe they might even provide an option for pure global vs METAR+global, etc.. in addition to this, there's also what they'll improve in the core weather engine in visual rendering capabilities. What they've spoken about as coming in v2024 seems promising like better simulation of thunderstorms and super cells, actual simulation of tornadoes, etc (all of which would require core weather improvements at the least). What'll be interesting is in live weather if they're actually able to show these thunderstorms, supercells, etc given their current not-so-great blending of METAR data with global weather data. That's what I'd want them to focus on first before spending effort to open up weather writing APIs (just IMO of course). If they're able to both improve the core sim's METAR blending as well as open up weather writing APIs, then even better. In any case, good on HiFi and other devs for putting out these kinds of add-ons working within the confines of what MSFS currently allows in terms of weather writing. It just increases the choices for users.. and like I keep saying, no add-on is ever going to hurt the sim, so more the merrier 🙂
  23. Hi, I am in the Fenix and I get the Logon Accepted Message. But no Message from P2ATC. Is there a setting in P2ATC exept the conversation file? thanks
  24. Did you have cloud and CAT turublence set to 100% in RealTurb? I'd imagine it would just double up then.
