This stream auto-updates

  1. Past hour
  2. I paid a one time fee via Steam for 150. It's 200 now though ugh. You get product updates for the year you own it. It still works after the year but no more updates. You can use Blender as a free alternative. If you get back into painting or are new to 3d we have a small discord channel where you can get help. Otherwise I highly recommend starting with the C208 'air biscuit' repaint tutorial in blender.
  3. It depends on the type of automated station used to generate the METAR, or whether it was created by a trained observer (an actual human being) either with or without the help of an automated station. Different combinations of equipment and human intervention have different levels of capabilities. Usually, METARs at smaller stations are purely automated, while major airports tend to have human input.
  4. not surprisingly, (unlike in the old REX 2D-billboard cloud textures in FSX) as AS doesn't create any of its own but only presents whatever is available in MSFS2020. AS can only select different sets of default clouds instead of what MSFS would show in the same place or under the same conditions.
  5. Don't hold your breath for significant changes to the flight model from here on out...
  6. Oh I knew that. cant be too far away since someone has started showing up on other forum and not saying anything.
  7. Same I can’t sign up to the official forum either. No confirmation email gets sent.
  8. Max ground 20, Max Active 25... Reduce injected bellow 28fps, stop bellow 24 fps. Using it with FSLTL, with "External" only being selected (no added BGL).
  9. Haha, I think I’ll keep Piett for a while longer! Last couple of landings with default weather and strong winds, I’ve been floating to the end of the runway, something I don’t experience with AS at all. Not sure which one is more realistic… Here’s a short video from the final part of a flight from Guangzhou to Hong Kong. Quite impressive depiction of thunderstorms, but I’m unconvinced regarding cloud turbulence. Think I remembered reading that this is a work in progress. Still, I find that I increasingly prefer AS to default weather, despite its limitations. I don’t regret the purchase. As for the cloud textures, I find that both AS and default can look equally terrible. I might post the full flight where I talk a lot about the various differences between default and AS, but I’m getting a bit worried about my recent video spam here on Avsim. Just think that a video is a pretty effective way of demonstrating AS in action. I’ll let the mods decide what is regarded as reasonable and within forum guidelines.
  10. I mean, they also did KBOS… which is looking and performing excellantly with the FlyTampa version. That makes even less sense.
  11. Yes the sim has come a long way. And the visual quality is also climbing steep, every new set of aircraft is getting better than the releases a year before. But the SoFly Dinosaur addon is without question an absolute highlight finally adding something actually cool and fascinating into the world. I personally wish for decades seeing something more interesting and otherworldly as optional gimmick and as surprise for more interesting flights - like the UFO when going very high in the X-Plane Cessna Citation, or The Lord of the Rings movie set and other awesome stuff.
  12. I don't think either are correct. There are frequently METARS reporting something like OVC250.
  13. After the detent it's no longer an axis but a 'button' to msfs.
  14. Nice tip! However, I plan to do it the other way around, I think. I have installed everything from AIG 100% and I noticed that when I search for an airport in the AIG manager it shows all the airlines that visit that specific airport. It only shows the installed ones but since I have 100% installed I will see all visitors. So the coming weeks I will 1. make a list of my most visited airports and then 2. look them up in the AIG manager and 3. compile a list of the airlines that visit my most frequently used airports and then 4. I will delete all airlines (AIG flightplans) that are not on my list. So I start with absolutely everything and hope to end with only those airlines/flightplans I usually use. (Not too bad if I miss out on one or two.) That will save me some loading time.
  15. Great set Ryan! And wouldn't it be nice to have one of those for real eh? I might be prepared to consider actual real life air travel again if I could do it this way!
  16. That should be pretty excellent fun Todd. Don't know what you're coming from but that setup should crackle along sending out sparks (and I mean that in a good, hot-rod, sort of way!) MSFS and all it's wonders on a good modern PC is just pure delight.
  17. Today
  18. What settings in FSHud do you use? I'm wondering how you're not experiencing any noticeable performance impact.
  19. For GA I use a modified traffic.bgl from which airliners have been removed. These are inserted by default MSFS in addition to AIG. I believe that bgl can be found on flightsim.to. It will be some time until there is sufficient GA in AIG to populate the skies. Too bad there isn't a GA traffic generator like there was for FSX which creates believable GA traffic.
  20. Someone (in the old/closed) thread said that METAR cloud information only goes up to 5,000 ft. Is that correct? The link below indicates 10,000ft. https://wiki.ivao.aero/en/home/training/documentation/METAR_explanation
  21. Absolutely wonderful post, P-7878! As I've mentioned in some of my own posts, I'm not big on either mountains or islands, but this post has inspired me to go explore there, and for me that's the real mark of a great set of pix. I can't remember if this is one of those places Superspud has given a makeover to, but I'll check that out too. And while I mention that, if you enjoyed the Channel Islands try the Scilly Isles next - that does have a nice vibe as well. And I really love that livery on the TBM! Gotta go grab that - it really suits that plane. Excellent!
  22. I wish the BlackSquare Duke not delayed some more months (and even more months and a few months more...) And the choice to download and use photorealistic textures and photogrammetry OFFLINE for various counties or even countries because I will never have a better and faster internet than I have now to stream data in the flightsim... (until 5G arrives here... in 15 years or so.) 😄
  23. Hi i recently bought a 50" TCL QM8B 120 hz TV , because i wanted to unleash the potential of my 4090. Overall the picture in 4k and low lag is great. The issue iam having is no matter what setting i use either in sim, w11 or the tv itself i cant seem to get rid of the flickering and random white screen flashing. also early testing it seems to be more prevalent on the ground at payware airports especially at night , and a particular problem with the Fenix when directly looking at the EFB or flight deck screens. However it does seem a little better if i turn HDR off in display settings in W11, latest bios , chipset and TV latest firmware all installed and using FG in sim
  24. ASFS made the PMDG 737 give out a windshear warning? After weighing all the pros and cons of ASFS vs. default live weather I think this just was the final push I needed to buy ASFS.
