  2. Late to the "party"... with an already long thread where most people drop opinions without knowing everything about what is really involved, both regarding MS / ASOBO's decision to close weather API to 3pds and HiFi or any 3rd party capabilities to overcome those limitations and offer alternatives. I used ASFS, and HONESTLY I think it is more than worth the use, even with it's necessary limitations when run on native mode, because it offers details that I couldn't find or found incorrectly modeled in MSFS weather engine. Things like a correct blend between METAR-based depiction and "aloft" forecast, where details like those of wind gradients can look a lot more consistent than in default MSFS where sometimes as you transition into the area covered by a local METAR you get a considerable increase in wind intensity, comming from CALM winds above, or the way ASOBO models temperature effects on pressure gradient, turbulence and shear effects, ... ASFS fine-tunes most of these effects and adds to the weather simulation a very consistent base, from it's usual sources, that years of experience in modelling and injecting weather into flightsims has consolidated into what I still consider the Best Weather Engine available for the MS FS and XP franchises... I would just LOVE if one day Damian could turn to platforms like DCS World or IL-2 Great Battles and offer those platforms a weather simulation like the one we can have in FSX, P3D, XP and now also MSFS 2020... Will MSFS 2024 make it redundant? We really don't know! There are only expectations, just as the ones I had along the MSFS 2020 ride. Stuff like soaring weather and the way it gets modeled in MSFS 2020 show how far from reality the approach followed by ASOBO to model, for instance, thermals, or even some aspects of mountain effects, stands... Should soaring weather IRL be even 25% as effective as it is in MSFS2020, we would all be World Gliding Champions 🙂 Consistency, coherency is what lacks in various aspects of physics modelling in MSFS, from the flight dynamics, ground physics, aircraft systems to weather, and even some aspects of the modeling of the World, something that in some aspects MSFS 2020 does better than any other platform I have used so far, with the exception of some custom sceneries available, for instance, for DCS World or X-Plane... Lighting for example needs attention, even the daylight as you approach dusk or dawn can differ considerably from what you see at the same place on Earth and date / time, which is a major failure in the representation of Real World scenarios, and yet I seldom see mention to these in the thousands of threads I have read about MSFS 2020. I look fwd into MSFS 2024 and to see what it brings of new to the aspects of FLIGH SIMULATION that are fundamental to me... In the meanwhile I am glad I could use ASFS and feel again "at home" with it's sound and easy to use usr interface, and getting most of the features I always found 2nd to no other products in the way they have been represented since the early days of Hi Fi, now in the new kid in town - MSFS... I just hope that at least MSFS 2024 doesn't close, even more, to 3pds the fine tunning of details that are fundamental in FLIGH SIMULATION...
  3. correct but there is that burger menu icon further up, if you click that you will get the entries. not running MSFS right now, can upload a pic in few minutes
  4. Yeah, I really gotta see a review or a breakdown of it, as these descriptions of preset-control that and passive-depiction this, with a lot of 'you gain this but lose that' sounds like some murky descriptions that tell me little. Need a visualization of what it actually means.
  5. Pretty sure that doesn't work, unless it's a separate entry, as many airports are part of the world update. OrbX KAVX and the one in the world update is an example of overlapping airports, search it out and you'll just get the World Update;
  6. Is that the override resolution option in OpenXR's in-game overlay or the scale slider in the app itself? Thanks.
  7. Waiting for the next gen to arrive. so hopefully I can get a 4090 a little cheaper . a suprim X 4090. currently 3400$ in Aus . absurd !!!! hopefully I can get one around 2000 $$ second hand . mike
  8. Go to the Content Manager in the sim. Type the ICAO code of the airport you wish to remove in the search bar. Click Uninstall/Delete. Et voilà ! Airport gone and doesn't re-download at next MSFS start.
  9. That’s a better price than I was expecting, pending reviews and videos might be worth it for just enhancement of effects in passive mode.
  10. Decided to stay with 5.4 🙂 I don't use AIG, so... and have the graphgics settings on medium / low, so no big deal with CPU / GPU ...
  11. Today
  12. If this is a serial protocol, then reading data is not possible with the AAO app itself. The app is focused on the common protocols that "everybody" uses (game controllers, MIDI, CAN). It doesn't deal with specialized hardware at all - that is what the Web API was made for. Someone would have to write a Bridge program, like those on the AxisAndOhs website, that understands the RSG serial protocol and translates it for the AAO WebAPI.
  13. you definitely need to buy Virtual Desktop. Download OpenXR toolkit as well. Watch about the settings on You Tube. There are plenty of vids.
  14. Just remember your illusion next time ballistic missile land in your back yard. It just "confused" but otherwise "good people" manipulated by some "elite" to kill you and your family. Humans are terrible. Those who complacent in the war crimes and "not good people" who got "manipulated" - they are mindless sheep that allowed others to use them . I have no excuse for them because I grew up in the same environment who those trying to kill my people now. I'm half russian I hate this because it artificial identity created to erase my true identity. My used to be friends and relatives who live in ruzzia now cheering for my destruction. Great human beings! Let not label them enemies but rather confused friends! I hope you get my sarcasm..
  15. Hey, Currently setting up an MSFS installation and remembered I had quite a few airport overlaps last time of default and addon airports. I know MSFS Addon Linker has a function to search out duplicates, which is great, problem is when you right click and do a "Delete files", it'll just redownload the ones you've deleted upon start. The only way of stopping this, I've discovered, is leaving the folder but just deleting the contents. However, doing that to 10-15 folders perhaps is just a bit annoying, especially if you constantly have to be over it in case of updates. So what is the simplest way of doing it, is there an addon that specifically does it correctly or what other methods are there?
  16. having another issue after i updated to the newest version it defaults my community folder to the wrong path and psxt shuts down before i can change it,
  17. This. Let's just move on. Getting Active Sky with all its features into MSFS will be a milestone for flightsimming.
  18. There's an episode of the great Frasier (original) series where one listener out of thousands doesn't like his show, he goes on a rampage to find out why instead of focusing on the thousands that like him. AS is of course your baby, so when you read negative posts (even if they aren't that negative) it'll hit you harder, my advice is to ignore them and stop posting about this "vocal minority" as, there's a "vocal majority" who love your work - and myself as a case in point - a potential new fan & follower as I've never used AS in any sim before.
  19. "Introductory pricing for ASFS is 23.00 EUR + Taxes/VAT. See your preferred reseller for more information on final pricing with currency conversion and tax. Pricing is subject to change!" Sold, looking forward too it.
  20. Looks like MK did a great job! I'll go buy this and fly to New York in the evening.
  21. Hello AVSIMmers, I just got my first in my life VR headset - Quest 3. My desktop is: i7-14700 + MB Z790 + 64GB RAM + 4070Ti + 2TB SSD. I connected Quest 3 to MSFS and tried to play with settings but with no luck getting a sharp texture and good performance. Textures are not sharp and wavey. I watched a few tutorials on youtube showing some settings in OpenXR and in the sim settings. I just tried sim settings only - getting a blurry image and great performance or significantly dropped FPS and a bit better image. Could you please advise optimal settings for my setup, should I use openXR or somethings else? Could you please advise which specific settings makes the image crisp? Thank you in advance for your time and advices.
  22. You have an FLS approach option available for the RNAV (this should be shown on the Appr-page in the FMS, and can be toggled off in favor of "FINAL APP") FSL = your FMS is able to create imaginary glideslope and localizer beams (watch your FMA...) since it mimics a conventional ILS you will have to activate the deviation scales.
  23. This is new, isn't it? RNAV Y 31L approach into KPSP Palm Springs. For some reason it seems the LS mode on the PFD is necessary. Having a few bugs, unfortunately: Some knobs/dials are not moving like before i.e. jerky (e.g. overhead panel light) Cabin visibility off does not work in EFB I'm also getting an engine ignition message on the right side of the ECAM, which is also new. Cabin ready announcement before landing is also new, I think. Of course, as always, I could be wrong on a number of things, so feel free to prove me wrong, Avsim 😅 Looking forward to the ground friction / landing flare / ground effect modelling once SU15 goes live.
  24. Is there a way to read data sent from RealSimGear hardware? I know that SPAD.next can be configured to read COM ports with the RSG protocol, but I'd really rather not go that route! Has anyone tried this? Thank you.
  25. I have been trying to fly it, and yes, it is funny, though I think that we need control of the nozzles also like in the Harrier, the DO-31 copilot sometimes is like drunken, and in those times to drink it was not so bad like nowadays and maybe they have simulated that also, and the Harrier can be controlled very well and precise. Other thing curious and strange is that MS/Ini say that the aircraft was built to defend from the Russians attacks in the tarmac runways, and I think sadly by the zone there was more nationalities than the Russians, weird, and non-intentioned mistake, sure, and more when some "elite" wants war and are working for that again in Europe and in all the World. I would like to recommend this book from 1935 telling truths: "War Is A Racket: The Antiwar Classic by America's MOST DECORATED GENERAL (no more no less) General Butler's screed crosses all ideological boundaries. Originally printed in 1935, War Is a Racket is General Smedley Butler’s frank speech describing his role as a soldier as nothing more than serving as a puppet for big-business interests. The introduction discusses why General Butler went against the corporate war machine and how he exposed a fascist coup d’etat plot against President Franklin Roosevelt. Widely appreciated and referenced by left- and right-wingers alike, this is an extraordinary argument against war – more relevant now than ever." The problem are the "elites" and their puppy presidents etc. etc., and the majority of the people of all the world and Countries are good persons manipulated and fooled, they are not the enemies, they are allies, and we all in the world have the same enemies.
