  1. Past hour
  2. After testing quite a bit with AFS active and passive mode, I came to the conclusion, that for my needs I prefer the passive depiction (= keeping MSFS Live weather). I made a video that shows the differences, so here is what you have to overlook if you prefer ASFS in active mode: I have to admit that I don't like the uniform weather representation by ASFS. Seeing 50 miles ahead, that your route will lead into bad weather is something I don't want to miss. And, ... btw. is not true that MSFS Live weather is only showing one cloud type. Cloud variation looks even better to me. Also I did not look out for special conditions that make ASFS look worse or bad. I just did a flight, encountered a bad weather cell (actually several in a row after the first one) and went back after landing to record a video of both modes, so everybody can see what I am talking about.
  3. OK. Well as long as you are happy with the output (particularly bug fixing and sim updates) from all those people, who am I to argue? I bow to your superior knowledge on these matters.
  4. It does look like one of those terrible AI-generated images!😄 Absolutely. The Boeing Clipper may get all the glamour love but the Sunderland is by far my favourite of the two.
  5. Hi, The GENERIC_LEAR_AP_SFT_1 does not seem to work. Did you succeed to make it work? Pascal
  6. I'm happy to tell that indeed I was able to do that! Many Bothans had to die in order for that to happen though...
  7. I saw it for the very first time a couple of days ago - on the apron area of Asobo's Cape Town FACT. Not seen it again since. Hopefully Cpt_Piett managed to pin it down in Guangzhou and keep it there.
  8. Normal service resumed folks. Black Square category well and truly in clear sight on the forum again, now.
  9. I haven't seen any missing DX12 textures since 2023 I think. Genuinely a thing of the past for me. It's true I don't fly all over the world though so maybe they exist somewhere.
  10. I'm about to do a clean install as for the life of me I can't figure out why it's suddenly not possible to record audio from MSFS when recording a video with OBS or Nvidia... It drives me insane - doesn't happen with any other game or app!! It was fine yesterday, then not fine after I restarted the sim... Pro tip: before uninstalling, move the Official folder to another location (copy takes forever). Then before re-installing, move it back to the MSFS folder location. That will save a HUGE amount of time. I've got everything installed i.e. that's a whooping 343GB to re-download. Note: fast move only works on the same drive! EDIT: The "core" files are only 2-3GB or so. Correction: Initially a 2.1GB download from Microsoft Store, then 4.54GB once MSFS runs for the first time i.e. total 6.64GB. It's important to select a custom installation when MSFS loads, where the backup of Official is placed. E.g. I'm using C:\MSFS where Official and Community should be placed. Note that the core game files will be installed to C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator. Also, I highly recommend using a VPN. That can increase download speeds from a feeble 2-3MBps to over 200...
  11. For sure, some of them are working part-time on MSFS. There is no way 700 people are working on MSFS full time, for the entire year. And probably when MSFS 2024 comes out, the number of people working on MSFS will be reduced drastically.
  12. I have always said Microsoft would go after the commercial market at some point. I just posted a link to a past thread I made in 2022 where I brought this subject up, about Microsoft going after the commercial market. Avsim made my post "hidden" for whatever reason. But yeah, even back in 2022, I speculated that Microsoft will target the commercial market.
  13. I am using both. They work fine together.
  14. Also on the beta, and I can confirm that Alt-Enter is no longer required 🎉 I haven't seen the DX texture bug for a while, but then it reared it's ugly head yesterday in Guangzhou.. that's where it's been hiding. The airport looked absolutely atrocious!
  15. Is it really so hard to roll out a hotfix just to address the screen resizing? Especially as SU15 has been delayed how many times now? Would it take hundreds of people away from working on SU15? No, it is not a significant bug but I can't believe there isn't a very quick and insignificant fix for it.
  16. I have always said Microsoft would go after the commercial market at some point. Here is a thread I created back in 2022:
  17. Anyone using RealTurb with Active Sky or is it best to let AS do its own thing?
  18. Nice post...I have been flying the Channel Islands lately in the Aurigny BN-2. Great place to see in MSFS and fun flying.
  19. @Poppet!! Good to see you back on Avsim. JustFlight really is a quality developer. I prefer airliners, though that preview video is very tempting.
  20. That is because you are underestimating the complexity of developing a software like MSFS rather than using it. At least that mistake Jorg is not making.
  21. As a tribute to the ANZAC's, I had a flight over the Australian memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France in the Jenny. They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.
  22. Of ALL the bugs and missing features in MSFS, the full screen one (which can be got around in a few seconds) must be the most insignificant I have ever seen. It needed to be fixed, but I am surprised people make so much noise about this but not about other issues. And in any case, I can confirm it IS definitely fixed in SU15 beta, just so people don't lose any sleep. Enjoy your missing DX12 texture issues though!
  23. Good, maybe now he can understand our frustrations with seeing the same issues year on year and never getting fixed.
  24. didn't you know its time consuming switching from full to min screens 🙂
  25. Well, we should be grateful it is not just another flying boat. Although it was a near miss going for a short Brothers design - they did loads. Although I would make an exception for the Short Sunderland flying boat. A classic, and I went onboard the one at the Hendon Museum recently. I could have quite happily made my home on it!
