P3D v3.2.3 First use and initial comments;

Recommended Posts

After about 5 hours into an ORBX install marathon...I finally got a few flights in..and I like the version very much.

It is very, very smooth and stutter-free, but does reduce my FPS as seen with P3D v2.4 by about 10 FPS. In the same scenes, that I get 32 nominally with v2.4, I am getting around 22-25 at KORS, etc.  Still though...delivered very smoothly.

I still prefer to have HDR both off in both P3D versions...but generally, it's a keeper!

I actually prefer the water in v2.4 to the water in v3.2.3, but that is of course a personal taste issue.

All in all, no major complaints...and will certainly add this version to my run-list.

Post Edit:  Just one actual comment.  P3D v3.2.3 is a real FPS hog!  Wow...30 to 40 percent lower than any of my other sims, including P3D v2.4 at the same in-sim settings.

Cheers,

Mitch

Not my experience at all. 3.2 has been the best version yet for me in terms of fps and all around performance

P3D v3.2.3 is a real FPS hog! Wow

Something off with your setup then Mitch...should be getting a not-insignificant bump up (not down). Have you tried dynamic reflections on low / off? I did find the first few flights had a hit until I reinstalled my video drivers and REX (and cleared shaders again).

Same for me. 3.2 is quite magnificent and most certainly the best performing version yet.

Did you turn 'Dynamic Reflection' to maximum setting?

Didn't touch what was stock out of the box...

Ok..well thanks for that...yes..just a couple of flights..and I had a 33 percent drop on average over FSX and P3D v2.4.  I'll check out everything and tweak and twack.  I'll report if I get back my FPS...

Thanks to all for the help...I really like this version...and will use it extensively.  :)

Oh..was just sayin' that I liked HDR as off in V2.4...but hey...opened minded, and will fool around more with v3.2.3...on the HDR display.

You really need to turn this off as it is not off by default and test again. This option is new

I am still on 3.1, waiting for the dust to settle.  May be it's time for me to get this version before LM replaces with something new (I am still kicking myself for having deleted the 2.4 version).

You have something wrong there, Mitch.. it should be running the same as or better than older versions.

This was the first version where I noticed things just are not as smooth as they were in the previous version.  I ended up uninstalling and doing a full reinstall and my FPS are in line with what I had before but it's just  still not smooth.  I think it may be the 'micro-stutters' I have heard about but never seemed to have an issue with in the past.  I am also having issues with black shimmering in the water along the coastlines of any body of water.  It appears to have something to do with the waves but even with them turned off through UTX the issue is still there. ....??

Thanks for that, Michael...I will shut it down on the next run. Still ORBX dowload v3. marathon, here....hours...hours...geez!  LOL

Actually, even with my present (I need to take everybody's advice here..and do what they say I should, and will...) 33 percent less FPS than v2.4...I find, even at 18-22 FPS in ORBX PNW...it has very smooth physical animation. All in all, I am most pleased with the performance.  I haven't seen the wave action that I have looked upon in screen shots...so will try to emulate that as well.  I had purchased the license when P3D v3.x came out, but have not installed, until yesterday, as I now have the system storage room (installed a 4TB WD Black Caviar the same day) to have both V2.4 and V3.2.3 simultaneously.  In fact...GOB's of TB's now, lol.  I'm room-ready for Dove Tail when that hits the RTM!

Life is good...yes..is good, :)

Very similar spec, but a 2500K running @ 4.6ghz.. Also running P3D off a hard drive not an SSD.

No cfg tweaks, apart from lighting levels.

Frame rates are higher over v2.x iterations, but for flying (not testing) I will lock the frame rate to 30fps.
