The Richard Harvey Scholarship

As of June 30, 2006, the Richard Harvey Scholarship has raised over $15,600 in donations and pledges and has succeeded in establishing an endowed and permanent Scholarship in Richard's name! Thank you to all who have so graciously contributed to this worthwhile effort!

The first recipient of the Richard Harvey scholarship was Phillip Doroba, who was awarded the scholarship in the fall of 2003.

The recipient for the 2005-2006 school year was Adil Samhaoui, an Aeronautical Science major, at the Daytona Beach Campus. Adil is from Webster, NY.

It is with great pleasure that AVSIM sponsors the Richard Harvey Endowed Scholarship for Aeronautical Sciences! Fundamental to our interests in simulation is a love of flight. There is not a simulation enthusiast anywhere that has not dreamed of real-world flight, and some day achieving the lofty goal of being a pilot. In honor of Richard Harvey, AVSIM has established an endowed scholarship at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in his name. This scholarship has and will continue to provide a deserving student every year support in achieving his or her goal of having a career in aviation. With your sponsorship, we can provide a student support in achieving their aeronautical aspirations. We ask you to contribute to this worthwhile fund and donate generously.

About the Scholarship: The Richard Harvey Endowed Scholarship for Aeronautical Sciences has been established to provide an annual and perpetual scholarship award to a deserving junior or senior enrolled at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Based upon grade point average and other criteria established by the university's scholarship committee, a deserving student will be selected each year to receive this scholarship. The recipient will have to be a full time student enrolled in aeronautical sciences, maintain a 3.0 GPA or better, and attending either of the residential campuses of Embry-Riddle. They will have to demonstrate financial need. The endowed scholarship is one where contributions will be placed in a fund. As the endowed fund grows, so too will the amount awarded. Each year Embry-Riddle will provide AVSIM a report as to the status of the fund, recipients, and other material related to the scholarship. In turn, AVSIM will publish this information for the entire community to see.

How to Donate: There are numerous ways you can donate to the scholarship. If you would like to donate now, while online, simply select an amount you wish to give below, and you will be able to entire a secure credit card transaction through Pay-Pal.
