A2A-Style Piper M500?
Steve Dra replied to ryanbatc's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
@simbol Raul is killin' it.....the stream also previewed the Phenom 300 that is in work as well...and the 727 with a joint development with SWS. Without a doubt the Dev to watch and assume you're getting a feature-rich aircraft with amazing fidelity!!! Day one purchase for the Piper 500....just a great looking plane. And another cool thing that just made me chuckle....roll and pitch the plane abruptly and the pillows in the back go flying....what a cool little touch! -
I lived in Marietta for 25 years and flew twice weekly in and out of KATL back when I was a consultant...would love to see a good version as well. Wish they kept the reddish-orange panels though...that is what I remember the most and so easy to identify where you were (if all the Delta aircraft didn't clue you in, LOL)

Hmmm...I may have to finish the ERAU HondaJet I started a while back. ERAU Alumni here as well. 😉 Walked graduation at the Daytona campus. Went to remote classes in Jacksonville when I stationed there.

I'm fortunate that I can mostly ignore my floaters...but its like now that I've been talking about it....I glanced up at "Bruce" and now he's tormenting me, LOL. Like "Forget me? Ha! I'll show you! I'll float into your peripheral vision and stay there a while, just to punish you for saying you can ignore me!" Like I said....our beautiful minds can process visual info and blot out things we don't need to see...until we start thinking about it. 🙂 Almost like getting an annoying song stuck in your head. "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas". See? Don't hate me! 🤣

Sorry to hear of your issues. I didn't mean to trigger a rash of eye floater stories in this thread, but its nice to commiserate with others with acute floaters nonetheless. Mine were never bad enough to warrant surgical correction, but I can relate to eye surgery just the same. I had cataract surgery last year on both eyes and had lenses inserted. While this did nothing for the floaters, my vision was vastly altered in a good way. Had the left eye done first, and when it was healing, covering it to look out of only my right eye was an "eye opening" experience....pun fully intended. 🙂 Being a livery painter, I never knew my condition caused me to see everything in a yellowish tint, and this is a screenshot I created back then to show what I was experiencing (as best as I could approximate): I guess all the liveries in my 20 years of painting before the surgery had a tint to them that may have been unnoticeable unless you compared my colors to another painter's identical livery. 🙂 Hope you have success in your future surgeries! Thanks for sharing your story.

And the funniest thing to me is that I've seen it before...usually on happenstance, because you're usually focusing on the distance and only really notice it when you stop panning and see it in front of you (at least how my eye scan works). But once you see (notice it)...you can't un-see it! It's just like "floaters" in your eyes...we all have them, and they go mostly unnoticed in our daily life. But if you are in the right lighting and pan your eye around and stop abruptly, you'll see them as they have a bit of an inertia factor as well (the bigger ones anyway). I have a particular one in my left eye I call "Bruce". He'll get my attention when I'm looking around quickly in a darker environment...then I can't un-see him until I get distracted by something else. Hehe. He's just above and to the left of my eye's viewpoint center, so I can never "catch" him and see him directly, no matter how fast I move my eye to see him directly. 🤣 Anyway....glad that dot in MSFS is gone...wish we could rid our eyes of floaters in the same fashion.

How to? - Install aircraft liveries
Steve Dra replied to Egbert Drenth's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
If you're getting pink textures...I've found a typical cause is in the texture.cfg file in the texture folder itself. Compare the one you have in yours with a livery that works (no pink textures)....there may be a chance the fallback folders are different. It would be easiest just to use the texture.cfg in a working livery in your texture folder (backup your original) and see if that fixes it. There can be a few reasons the fallback folders would be different (older version of the plane where they changed the fallback paths for example). -
Actually the DC-6 is still in commercial service...Everts Air in Alaska still operates them daily. The PMDG DC-6 has a virtual FE (Flight Engineer) that handles most of the non-flying tasks in the aircraft if you decide to turn it on (suggested for new pilots until they get comfortable with the complex procedures in her)

Not that the members of this forum represent the entire FlightSim community....but a quick show of hands here at Avsim (and who reads this) of who's buying the FSL Concorde for P3d. I'll start: No (Ray, I think you may be one of the very few who's gonna' check yes here... I don't think the numbers will be better even if this post was in the P3d forum) I just don't see the numbers and if I were to guess...I think the price is going to be north of $130 for sure. And at that price it will only attract the most hardcore simmers (who also want to learn to fly her)...who most, like many mention here, have moved from P3d completely. If they sell more than a thousand copies I'd be surprised. That's $130k for what has to be much more in labor costs to develop it over the years. Anyway...for those hoping to see if for MSFS...unless they have been developing it in secret since MSFS released with zero announcements, I don't expect any chance of a MSFS release this decade...maybe 2030 at the earliest? I cite empirical evidence if you recall how long it took to release sharklets for the A320 from when it was announced to when it was released.🤔 Rapid development is not an FSL trademark. 😄

Captain Sim is in a galaxy far, far away...
Steve Dra replied to F737MAX's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
LOL...I screenshot most of my posts as they tend to vanish like a Jedi Knight's body when they die. 🤣 For this one...I only got the forum overview screenshot, because before I could go back into the forum and look at the post, it vanished. Vanishing posts are very popular at CS...I highly suggest anytime you post something that you suspect CS won't like, you screenshot it. 😉 Yeah, sadly agree that the C&D was all that was needed to end this little copyright infringement. I find it hilarious that they thought Disney would not catch wind of it...and to almost confirm how arrogant they are, they put it up for sale anyway, probably made a few hundred bucks before the C&D, and called it a day. I just hope Disney also made them refund the simmers who bought it. Based on how fast my post vanished, I think Disney may have them on the 5nm radar setting for a while, and they will nuke anything that relates to the Tie Fighter®. I'm thinking of poking a little more fun with them and post something like: "Hey CS, I've heard the Star Trek franchise is not as protective of their property as that other space movie company...maybe you should see how many NCC-1701's you can sell before they get wise to you?" 🤣 That post may get me banned, LOL -

Steve Dra replied to F737MAX's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
LOL....So I asked about it over in their General Forum with the title "What happened to the Tie Fighter®? ...noting that I saw it on the eCommerce page and they also created a "Support" page for it and now they were both gone... You guessed it...they nuked my post before any replies came in! I guess they are a little touchy about the subject and thought the ® I tacked onto "Tie Fighter" was a bit sarcastic.🤣 I wonder if Disney forced them refund the few sad soles that may have bought it and if they deactivated the licenses? Hope anyone here who actually bought it chimes in and lets us know what happened to their CS Tie Fighter® software. Anyone with an account over there should see how long their post lasts if they inquire about the Tie Fighter®... I'm sure they're in full nuke mode with anything related to it....just like when they hyped the P3d 767 freighter for months, then cancelled it, or when they tried to force flightsim.to to remove all the P3D 767 liveries, or when they bugged the MSFS 767 model so freeware painter's liveries had ugly model issues (so you'd be forced to buy their liveries), or when they removed the P3d 767 paintkit because they saw freeware painters painting the MSFS version anyway....you get the idea...a long history of deceitful moves by them. They spend more time clearing angry posts these days than they do creating products. 😂 I hope they get the full Mickey treatment from Disney's lawyers and Disney also sues to recover any Tie Fighter® sales (there couldn't have been too many), plus levies fines for copyright infringement...if we're lucky it'll put them out of business and out of our community for good. -

Steve Dra replied to F737MAX's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Hehe.....one more quote from the Star Wars® series....CS when they get an email from Disney: "I've got a bad feeling about this®". Can't believe they thought they could get away with this....but then again, with all the other stunts they've pulled in the past...this is par for the course. -
Necro post it seems. @gruberst Welcome to the forums...and FYI, when you post a reply, its a good process to check the date of the last post to see how old it is before replying to it. When you reply to an old post (in this case almost 2 years ago), it brings it to the top of the forum where others may think this is a "NEW" Easter Egg in MSFS all the people are talking about. The best thing to do if the post is this old and you want to comment about a new Easter Egg you may have found....its better just to start a new post. 😉

New BlueBird 757 Videos
Steve Dra replied to threexgreen's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Are you "The" Sherv from the Project OpenSky (POSKY) days? If so its fantastic to see you picking up the 757 and returning to the community! I painted many of the excellent models POSKY released in the day, and can't wait to throw some paint at the Bluebird 757! Hope to bring these old girls to the community when she's released: (not POSKY models below but from that era) -
I'm not painting the CS 767 for MSFS. You could reach out to mjv at flightsim.to and he may be doing FedEx....he as already done UP and many others. here is a link to his UPS 767 https://flightsim.to/file/50071/ups-cs-767-300er

Of All The Developers I miss in MSFS...
Steve Dra replied to Jocko Flocko's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Same. Flew more hours in it I think I did in all of the other aircraft I owned at the time combined. Also was one of the 1st I ever painted. I have to say for FS2004, this UPS I painted looks pretty good for its day. 😉 And of course...the AA that I converted Ed's stunning metal textures from the POSKY 767, to the LDS 767. Still my highest downloaded livery of all time with over 17,000 downloads here at Avsim alone (she was reuploaded to several other sites back in the day...last time I cared to count she was over 30,000 downloads at the combined sites I could find) -
Has anyone picked up the CS 767-300 yet?
Steve Dra replied to Steve Dra's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Hehe....CS just keeps piling on. This post used to only say that "bootleg" liveries will have model errors (thanks due to they purposefully bugged it for freeware painters, or if they didn't and they just won't tell freeware painters how to fix it). Now they have included a comparison screenshot, almost rubbing in our faces that only their liveries will net you a nice looking and performing model.🤔 And I particularly find hilarious that they say "If the #1 is not enough we have a few more" as if potential customers who are brave enough to try some of the freeware liveries STILL need a reason to shun and laugh at those poor freeware painters who are just trying to serve the community to HELP CS generate more sales. Really CS? just...really? Its bad enough that CS sells questionable products at best, but to characterize all the freeware painters in this light, even the ones who've been staunch CS supporters and have created countless freeware paints for their past products that undoubtedly contributed to additional sales of THEIR products...I can't see any reason for the simming community to ever touch their products going forward. Its just despicable in my opinion. -

Steve Dra replied to Steve Dra's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Hehe...I could comment volumes on this topic, but if I were to keep the filters I have to apply to myself when commenting on CS in general, it would be this: CS Bad. 😄 As far as how they try to dissuade simmers from downloading "Bootleg liveries" (what they called the post in their forums, before they started deleting posts, then removed the thread altogether, then reposted the cleaned up version without some of the snide comments even they musta' felt were over the top)...I have a few more comments about that. 🙂 First, like many have said here....freeware painters only help your product become popular and surely increases sales. The ONLY reason they'd try to squash them (back when the 777 released) for a plane they were not trying to sell liveries on...was purely ego-driven. They wanted all freeware painters to only upload to their wonky ACE area, and when they couldn't force them, they tried to threaten fightsim.to to have the liveries removed. After the obvious backlash, CS tucked tail and relented...I bet that seriously bent CS's Ego. LOL With the new 767-300, they are now selling liveries. I guess after seeing all the livery packs flooding the MSFS marketplace, they want a piece of that pie. I cannot fault them for that, and in fact, as long as the livery packs keep coming, and stay at the $9.99 $4.99 price, its not a bad deal and just like their modeler, their painter does make very good paints. $1 is very reasonable IMO, and as much as this may seem improper based on past releases, I really don't have an issue with it, What I have a serious issues with, as you can imagine, are 3 things: Their characterization that freeware painter's liveries are sub-par in general (we know there are so many levels of painters out there, but there are many great ones out there...every bit as good as theirs) They took the P3d Paintkit off their site once they realized that us dumb freeware painters figured out you can paint the MSFS model just fine with it because, with some tweak, its identical to the P3d version And worst of all...they purposely bugged the model so that if you try to paint a "Bootleg" livery, by their own admission "Damages the exterior nose section (the ugly cockpit roof bumps appears, broken pilots' windows area, missing windshield glass and frames). - FPS drop 30-50% guaranteed. If they are confident their liveries are so superior to freeware painters, why did they need to purposely bug their product? Sounds like they feel threatened by us dumb freeware painters huh? By the way they are framing the freeware paints....it seems like they learned their lesson and are at least staying away from the flightsim.to FREE liveries...but just "warning" their customers that if you download a livery from anywhere other than their livery packs, you'll get sub-par, and buggy paints. I don't have to tell you guys that many freeware painters put out a quality product, and for CS to disparage them to try and boost their paints is pretty pathetic if you ask me.
