  1. That is the main problem with our culture these days...I say "You do you and I'll do me"....I don't stress about frames, as long as it "looks" smooth to me, I'm good. Now...I can't say the same back in my younger years when I laughably thought I was an "audiophile" . I distinctly remember paying an extra $100 for one CD player over another because it had a 5% better S/N ratio. Never mind the fact that the human ear (or even a dog's ear) could never detect that small difference, I was able to boast that my CD player had a S/N of XXX vs XXX. How proud I was of that fact...LOL. I was a silly mid-twenty year old back then.
  2. Don't let the 99% of bashing be confused with real issues to complaint about. Most comes from frustrated folks with little patience (I get that). Some of it is justified "venting" and its good to let off a little steam every once in a while....but those who seem to have nothing positive to say about how incredibly good we have it in the flightsim community, would likely complain about getting a million dollars in their mailbox with a note "no strings, taxes already take care of...its yours to do with it what you want" because it was in $1,000 dollar bills and they'd have to go to the bank and get change for them. I try to ignore folks like that, and not get sucked into their drama. One challenge I have is because I'm on a few beta teams...when I see some of the comical statements and speculations being made about how projects are going, I can't reply back to them as I'd like to due to NDAs, wishing I could tell them how off their speculation is vs what's really happening with the product while its in beta. I have almost bitten clean thru my bottom lip several times. It is fun (and frustrating) to watch though. I hope to be able to tell all I know about a certain project "Soon"® For those on beta teams...I know you can relate. 😉
  3. What? Darth wouldn't give you a lift in his TIE fighter? They're right...he IS mean.
  4. So many great lines in that movie...just a joy to watch. You can always tell how funny a movie is when you're watching it with your wife for the 1st time (or 5th) and you count the eye rolls. There is actually a mathematical equation that defines this: The Count of the total number of spousal eye-rolls in a corny movie is directly proportional to how funny it is to the fan of the genre or series. The higher the Count, the Funnier the movie. This is math...and indisputable.
  5. It's a Rebel Scum's greatest mission to distract the evil forces of the Empire so Luke can and drop a photon torpedo down a shaft and win the day. The classic art of deception is just not an Empire tactic. 😉
  6. They've gone to Plaid! One of the best scenes in the movie...worth the 4 minute re-visit
  7. You know the answer. In some forums....mixing up the ST and SW franchises will invoke threats of physical harm from some who fanatically follow their "cult", even when in jest. 🙂 I keep my genre's neat and all in the same swim lanes when replying to them. You noticed in another post here I quickly put a SpaceBalls (Mel Brooks) interloper quickly back in his place: Speaking of the ST franchise....I regular converse with a Gorn here...who despite his evil ways, tries to integrate with us humans here. I can't recall his name here at avsim at the moment...but I hope he sees this with his big, sparkly Styrofoam eyeballs and chimes in....I miss bantering with him, hehe.
  8. Atari ST520 here. Imagine.... five hundred and twenty KILOBYTES of ram....I was the king of the world with all that ram!
  9. Again you fail to see the power of the Dark Side. Just have a chat with the Emperor and he'll "promise" that you'll even be able to keep folks from dying if you join him, so you'd have nothing to fear from a heart failure. Of course I believe he fibbed a bit, after all he is a bad guy. If I may quote directly from the scene with the Emperor and Luke: ME: "Your over confidence in your RTX4090 is your weakness" YOU: "Your faith in properly adjusted detail settings in MSFS is yours" "I could do this all day" Oh wait...wrong SiFi genre. 🙂
  10. I'm Rebel Scum...I'll NEVER join you! And as to the small lettered caption at the bottom of your sig...I reply :TOO LATE!!
  11. You know...if you aspired to be just like your boss and took the time to learn the ways of the force, you could have just did what his master did (Obi Wan of course) and waved your hand at us and said "These are not the FPS rates you're looking for", and we'd all see this post as someone who gets 100 FPS at 8k with all settings max'd at KJFK and AI Traffic maxed with 4k texture maps on them. To which we'd say (in our best, static'y Storm Trooper voice) "These are not the FPS rates we're looking for, move along, move along"
  12. LOL....Captain Sim had the audacity to think they could release a payware TIE fighter and Lucas Films, Disney, et al would be okdokie with that. That thing got pulled off the market so fast it made Jar Jar's head spin, me tinks. Isa bad bad juju for meesa Captain Sim fo show. I wonder how they handled getting the ones back they sold? Anyone reading this actually get to buy it before it was pulled off the market? Then every scrap of evidence it existed just disappeared....the ecommerce page, the forums regarding it ...everything. Even the posts in other forums that asked WFT happened. They vanished too...fast. It was hilarious!
  13. What? Flying the Executor not enough for you? You have to muscle in our earth-bound vehicles? I guess you're looking for something in a TIE Fighter size to putt around in the Earth's atmosphere in. You Empire Elites...not happy unless you own everything! Can't wait to see you forget it needs an atmosphere to fly in and try to take it into space! And....you can't bullseye Womprats with it like Luke used to. It has no pew pew guns.
  14. Hey Helmet-boy I don't want to hear it. You're not even in the SW universe, rather the Mel Brooks universe. 😉 One of his best movies I thought, and its a regular on my TV when I want to laugh. I know every line, and his cameo role, next to Blazing Saddles, was one of his finest. Of course, he was fantastic in History of the World.... "Its good to be the King" Classic line! But IMO, Young Frankenstein was his best work.
  15. Spoken like a true officer in the Empire. I saw Star Wars when it 1st released...enjoyed the series very much until we were Jar-Jar'd. Even could tolerate that series...but I lost interest pretty much after that. You can consider me rebel scum, and I never met a Wookie I didn't like.
  16. Hey! No Stars Wars cross-talk! You people are almost as bad as the folks with PDS! (besides, we all know the Empire is finished, and Luke kissed his sister...on the lips...and liked it! Ewwwww.)
  17. Hey Dave....not even shutting a thread down....just not even letting one start that concerns PMDG. If a member tries to interject their PMDG bias in another, unrelated thread, I say they get warned once, then permanently banned the next time. I think we're all just about done with their nonsense...I surely am.
  18. I'm wonder why the mods at Avsim, knowing the absolute word not allowed-show every thread about PMDG (or in this case NOT about) turns into, have not implemented some sort of auto delete of any post containing those letters....or RSR, promise, or any other thing that inevitably leads to a word not allowed-show. Just flat out ban all posts about PMDG at Avsim, period. ....take it to their forums and discuss there. Long gone are the good old days here where you could openly bash Pappa Tango, PT, Peter Tarishma<sp?> because they were in fact the enemy of the community, and nobody disputed that, LOL. Tom absolutely hated PT with a passion, and rightfully so. Now we have people openly bashing a company that has brough us so many great planes...for trivial, ridiculous things that in light of current world events, seem insulting to even mention. A lot of you are negatively impacted by Russian and Ukrainian devs in the flightsim community who'd love nothing more than to join in conversations about our tiny, obscure, insignificant hobby, than to be dodging bullets and suicide drones. Get some perspective.
  19. It always reminds of the great Randy Travis song with these lines... As long as old men sit and talk about the weatherAs long as old women sit and talk about old men Then the chorus...and the title of the song: Forever and ever, amen We can now add PMDG Derangement Syndrome to this list of things that are inevitable in life: Death and Taxes, and PDS
  20. Not sure...but I know the guy painting this one said It will be on flightsim.to when he's done...Don't think he's able to get it on the Fenix livery app...that is for special painters. 🙂.
  21. Id have no issues going with microcenter. Their staff is very knowledgeable and when you go to pick yours...they will probably let you bring it to the bench and open it up and ask questions about it. I'd go with the AMD 1000%. Best processor hands down (I have one and love it) and you get at 4070 super to boot.
  22. Sad to realize that I'm a pretend painter as well. That is why I adopted the nickname "Pixel Pusher" decades ago because I realized in 20 years of painting virtual aircraft, I've never picked up a paint gun, sprayed the aluminum of an actual aircraft, or sniffed the toxic fumes of aircraft paint. Pushing pixels however, I've probably push enough in my time that if I had a dollar for every pixel I pushed...I could easily pay off the current national debt of the United States (esp since I'm pushing them at 8K now, and one swipe of the smudge brush on an 8k map pushes 68,108, 864 pixels. 🙂
  23. Hey Jim! Great to "see" you! Hehe...we enlisted folk just called you LCDR's "light" Commanders. 🙂 Check your Flight1 email box.
  24. LOL...I don't think anybody knows how to spell lewtenent. 🙂 Without otto-korrect and Goggle weed miss-speel many thinks!
  25. Correction Sir...that is technically Lieutenant Commander Data. 🙂 They commonly drop the Lieutenant when addressing Lt Commanders...but his actual rank in the show was Lt. Cmdr. Capt. Picard and others did address him as "Commander" though.
