Echofox, I posed this question waaaaaaaaaaaaay back (A whole 4 days ago hehe), and the consensus was that it was not needed. Here is my post: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/457975-fsx-steam-threadsbefore-it-gets-too-hard-to-search/ Fear not...your post will soon be buried pages back like mine now is, and someone else will start another post about it, and then you can refer to your post, and how you asked the same question waaaaaaaay back...then a few days later...well...you get the idea. While I agree FSX:MS and FSX:SE (as we unofficially named the two "Identical" sims) are pretty much the same (yep, both flight simulators, yep both from MS...originally), the wrapper and the apparent differences we're seeing as a community are for at least now, more than just a placebo effect. If I were like you and not interested in FSX:SE at all, I too would get a little tired of sifting through all the posts about a sim you have no interest in. I'd say in a few more weeks if FSX:SE posts are still more than 50% of the posts on the 1st page of multiple forums, we as a community will revisit the idea of a forum for each version...until then, enjoy the irony of having this kind of problem (too many flight sims to think about).

Great shots Chris! This is one of my favorite paints. I've taken her around the world. Its too bad UPS doesn't fly them, I think they'd look awesome in the real world! -
FSX-SE FSX Steam threads...before it gets too hard to search....
Steve Dra replied to Steve Dra's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Looks like most are thinking we don't need a new forum. If so, I hope posters will at least look past page 1 before posting a new "Let's post all MSX:SE fixes here" thread, or something closely related. My initial concern is that in the next few days/weeks we may have many duplicate posts,...as we all know not everyone searches past page one (or even to the bottom of page one, lol) before throwing a post out there, and I just didn't want this and other forums getting flooded. Which in turn makes the mods more busy, and opens the door to all the "Why didn't you search before posting" comments that are sure to be included in every post. Even now as I type, over half the posts on the 1st page are Steam related. I guess time will tell if the "Steamers" will flood this forum to the point where all would be in agreement to create their own...let's wait to see what shakes out. -
FSX-SE FSX Steam threads...before it gets too hard to search....

LOL....I just saw that Speedbird and makes my point that much more relevant. We'll see what the masses think and then see if Tom agrees. I'm really stoked about all the rejuvenated interest in FSX..and ANY exposure of this magnitude can only be a good thing for our tiny community (relatively speaking). -
Hey everyone, I see a lot of folks posting fast and furious about the very recent Steam release of FSX. I think already we've done our own classification/standardization of certain terms, one of them differentiating native FSX from the Steam version by referring to them as FSX:MS and FSX:SE respectively. I also see a lot of folks trying to pull everyone together into one post or another to start a parent thread we can all refer to. While an excellent idea, I can see these individual threads quickly growing to unmanageable levels (read: great enthusiasm about the new addition to our world, hehe). I don't mind large threads if I've been keeping up with them, but as we all know they are a little hard to sift through if you're a new guy looking for something particular. Looking for thoughts/comments about maybe dividing the FSX forum and branch it into 2 forums to keep all the new FSX:SE content in one place? I know the pros and cons for that methodology, just want others to chime in and see how they feel and maybe Tom will make an executive decision to act on the consensus. This is a very exciting time for flightsimming!...and while I thought I was just going to pass on this whole Steam thingy (my technical term for all this), at $4.99 there is no way I was not going to buy it...I'm sitting on it and not installing it now until more testing is done, hoping our brave bleeding edge soldiers out there will take all the chances I'm not willing to with my now nicely balanced FSX:MS (LoL) install. My one contribution to this thought of splitting the thread....one of my interests is the compatibility of PMDG products with STEAM. I found the answers over at the PMDG forum, but thinking about sub-categories in the FSX:SE forum that would pull all the related vendor updates/concerns to the new FSX:SE forum vs having to visit each vendor forum looking for FSX:SE info. Looking for constructive thoughts guys.

Dunno Al, have not tried to paint the TBM yet. Which reminds me...I do owe you a paint don't I? I'll see what I can do to get it to you as a Christmas present.
-
Hmmm....not a bad idea!

Thanks for the comments guys! Hey Robert and Fawkes, not sure why you can't see the photos...they are links from Imageshack and I've been posting them like this for a while now. Glad you like the prop F, the whole exterior is outstanding, and the prop/spinner was very well done indeed. Chris, she could fit inside a big GE powerplant, LOL. Really liking my little GA purchases, need to take them on some trips to shake them down and see how they fly. A lot more to manage in a turboprop vs our comfy Boeing flightdeck, but I like the challenge.

Nice shots Chris! That is a great paint...very colorful! We'll see about some Polar dirt...rather busy with some new planes at the moment as you've seen. -
Could not resist the purchase at this price..... This plane just appeals to me in so many ways.... Taxiing past one of my normal rides (a tubeliner that is) Love that powerplant! This and the B200 for under $50...amazing!
-
Yep...a have a can of beans in the back!

Thanks John....she sells herself...and she's an extra 10% off until midnight (eastern) tonight at PC Aviator. Worth every penny...and that's not many based on what she sold for when she was the shiny new kid on the block. I'm on the fence for the TBM 850...quite possibly the sexiest plane on the planet! Mario, Its the Carenado B200.
-
I know...silly pun...but this plane is gorgeous! Something about the Kingair I've always liked....
-
Oh my.....$21.57 usd (with 10% Tuesday discount at PCAviator)...you just can't go wrong! The Carenado B200...simply beautiful.

Thanks! Your pics rock too of course! Call me crazy....but I bought another freighter yesterday that was on sale...the DC-8! Tried to do a tutorial flight....didn't go so well hehe...it's not a Boeing! (by any means!). The only UPS paint for it was the old version and sparkling clean...I may transfer my new UPS livery to it when I manage to learn to fly it. She's not a bad-looking plane (flightsim model wise), and I got her for $16.50 with my JustFlight reward points....could not pass that up. Stay tuned for pics in the future of the new UPS paint. -

I bet the 100 or so people slated for the 717 flight were happy to see the big girl! I took a flight in my avatar's likeness.... Loading the big girl up from KDFW...heading to LIRF. Love flying this time of day! Over Flower Mound, TX....climbing out. She's very photogenic! Passing an American 777 in the night. Unloading at LIRF -
You shot down a poor, defenseless S3 "Hoover"! You big meanie! PS...why did us sailors call them "Hoovers"? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FRJfBW_GQI When I was stationed at NAS Jacksonville and lived right under the approach path at Cecil Field, I heard them all the time. Hehe...there is a YouTube video for EVERYTHING! (Great shots....SCREENSHOTS, that is, hehe)

Thanks Chris...no...no real Titan's, hehe...just the UPS birds (1 MD-11, 2 A300s). Have a good break...we'll keep the 777 fleet hopping in your absence. Unloading at Santa Barbara... -

Nice shots Chris. I like AF's livery too (and Skyteam) I managed a UPS 777 flight tonight.... Pushing back from KDFW UPS cargo area...Founder's Square (Observation site) in the background..I was actually there tonight! Liftoff from 36L -
Haven't had the chance to examine her that closely yet, but my initial walk around showed no issues. I'll report back when I take her on her first revenue flight.

Steve Dra replied to pinlifter's topic in The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Well I had to differentiate it from the clean version somehow. -
I just realized that when I took a trip to KTPA over the Thanksgiving holiday! Boy I won't miss walking down that long corridor under the tarmac! LOL. You'll enjoy your purchase...she's a great bird to fly! Short hop to check out Det's new paint. Nice one Det! I'll take her on a proper flight soon.

Steve Dra replied to pinlifter's topic in The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
No worries Det. I completely understand and I never judge someone for what they like or don't like, have or don't have, want or don't want. To me, regardless of the vendor, price or history, she has been my most favorite addon for flightsim...as a painter and virtual pilot. -

I'm tellin' ya Det I felt the same way...but it was the best 100 I've ever spent on flightsim...have most definitely have gotten well over $100 entertainment value out of her. I can't put into words how nice she is overall. Just take $33 out of the next 3 paychecks and you'll be flying her soon (if you get paid every 2 weeks...been so long since I was in the Navy I can't remember the pay cycle, hehe) Here is the end of my KDFW>KTPA flight....getting her unloaded.
