Hello Dave. All three files are in myname\appdata\roaming\microsoft\fs9. One is typed FS9. one is fs9.cfg. And one is typed fs9.CFG. But after reading what David and RJ wrote, it seems it doesn't make any difference how many you have. But, should they all be IDENTICAL? Thanks to all three of you. BTW. Have any of you heard or know where to find "programs.exe"? I'm trying to undo myself as administrator and use a standard account. I was told to "log on using an administrator account. Right click the programs.exe file and click "run as administrator' I figured if this lets me run as administrator, maybe it will let me undo administrator rights.

Just how many FS9.cfg files should one person have. I've been wondering why I have three. I would think you should only have one. I didn't put them there. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I guess I need to eyeball all three and hopefully they would all be the same, then I could delete two of them. But, if they are different, which one do I keep? How is a .cfg file built in simple terms? Thanks, Mike

Hello all. I'm sure if this post does not belong in this forum, it will be taken out, but I'll take the chance. What happened I don't know but it's driving me crazy. It all started when trying to install a third party freebie aircraft. I now get the error message "FS cannot run from a restricted user account and will now quit. Log on using an administrator account and restart FS". Since I installed Vista Home Premium, 64 bit, when it came out, I have always been the administrator. I got tired of being asked for "permission to contine" so I turned off User Account Control. Never had a bit of problems. So, in the past week, I've tried to start FS using the administrator account with UAC on and off to no avail. So, I set up a standard account and FS works. But I'm trying to get it back the way it was. Any suggestions with what info I've given or do I need to uninstall and reinstall Windows. Maybe someday MAC will come out with an OS that will run FS.

Hello all, Some years ago there was a third party, payware program that allowed you to keep your aircraft files ( gauges, effects, modules, etc.) separate from other aircraft. Now, someone correct me on this because I'm not really sure if all of these files need to be together. The reason I'm asking is I was installing a new freeware aircraft and not saying it was the program but now I keep getting messages such as "soundgauge.dll" is incompatible, or " TCAS v7 " is incompatible with something. Anyway, my memory is shaky on this "program" I'm thinking of, so if anyone remembers such a program,please let me know. Thanks to all, Mike

Hello all, I recently received this popup when starting FS9. MSFS Has Stopped Working A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. I won't hold my breath waiting for Windows. Has anyone received a message such as this? I re- moved the last program I added to FS9 thinking it might be corrupt but get the same message. Thanks, Mike

I've been reading the manual and quite frankly am very confused.Would someone out there that is familiar with and feels comfortable with UD to tell me if there is a simple set-up to put FS9 andall that goes with it to the outer edges of the hard drive to get ultimate performance.Thank you to all who respond.Mike

I should remember this from day one but as the mind goes so does the memory.Shift+Enter and Shift+Backspace raises and lowers the pilots seat. My question is where do you set up this commanad.?I've been thru the control assignments and aircraft.cfg with no luck.I know it will be a simple answer.

I just purchased HIFI SIM - XPAX the other day.Todat\y is my first chance to use it. I made up a flight plan and so far all I've heard is passing out boarding passes,a movie and meal will be served shortly, and that's about all. Maybe I'm missing something but surely the flightcrew would have something to say to each other.Does anyone else think it could be better?Thanks,Mike

Does anyone out there use Luis Kmentt's FS2004 Supreme Boeing767/757 Panel/Cabin? I've used it for a number of yearsand enjoyed very much. Today, I'm flying one of my favorite 67's and realized I can't find the Nav/GPS switch. It's alwaysbeen there and now it's gone. I checked the panel.cfg and don't see it there either. Am I going nuts or is it right under my nose?Thanks for anyones help.Mike

hi graeme, I don't know how I missed all three versions. However, even tho there was not a gauge folder,everything came out just fine. Appreciate your help. And also thanks to Ed who answered above.This is one of the aircraft used in the movie Air America of which there is a livery to match. Thanks guys.

Hello all, I d/l an aircraft, a c123k by Vladaimir Zhyhulskiy from another source. It was supposedly available here at Avsim but they sayno record or I'm entering wrong info. The filename should be C123zh_2011.zip. Where I d/l the file I got all the particulars exceptgauges. Has anyone here d/l this aircraft and had success.Thank you, Mike

Steffen, I just re-installed FS9 about 2 months ago for other problems.Mr. Scott, I looked at my FS9 effects folder and was very surprised that the only effects in the folder were ofadd-on's, third party, and payware. So, I'm wondering, how do I see other effects in different aircraft. It's as if I have another effects folder somewhere.Would you happen to know which FS9 install disk has the default effects folder on it and is it named "effects". I can't hurt it anymore than it already is.Thank you both.Mike

The product is CLS Airbus A330-340 Long Hauler Package from Simpilot. They haven't answered me yet anr it's been over 12 hours. When I get a file like that I usually right click and I have the option to "open with" and I click on Adobe Reader 3. and it solves the problem.This time I had no option with Adobe. Am I being to impatient? They took my money already. BTW, this is for FS9.Thank you both for your input.Mike

Hello simmers,I know this probably doesn't go here but I'm at wits ends trying to figure this out.I bought a product from a sim store and when I clicked on the file to install it. it was all Greek to me. A bunch of computer talk. I thought an Adobe product was supposed to change that stuff to English. Evidentlywrong.Has anyone had this problem and able to get around it.Thanks, Mike
