  1. Thanks. It helps a bit. Since my OP I uninstalled everything and started again. I installed to a HDD on my PC. Steam is not connected but when I run fsx.exe I get an invitation to fly online. From your link, I see that to avoid missing updates (they are very infrequent and likely to get even more infrequent) I need to login to Steam. Just what happens then is unclear. Where does an update go? Will I get an option to choose where? If an 'update' in Steam language means an 'install', then what happens my third party sceneries and aircraft. Last time I updated, Steam installed a second FSX-SE - on my small SSD. It is remarkable that I've had only one response about this on this board. Or, perhaps not. Maybe FSX-SE is dead in the water. It is clear that 64bit is the way to go, but I hate parting with my hangar of old buddies, not to mention some lovely airport sceneries.
  2. In April, I bought and downloaded to my HDD a copy of FSX-SE. I ran it and installed a few updates including Orbx. Orbx Central identified FSX-SE on my PC. Now, when I try to run fsx.exe from the folder, I get an FSX Splash Screen, then an error message about Object Flow, then a message that Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working. When I checked my Steam library, it told me when I had last run the program but there was also a large green button, asking me to INSTALL. This I did. I did not get an option where to install and it used my smallish SSD on C: (I had reserved it for the OS only). Now it is a mess! On the upside, I can run FSX-SE when I am connected to Steam. I cannot run it from my own PC as I was able to do last April. So, I would like to know if FSX-SE can only be run when connected to Steam? Or can it be run as a stand-alone installation? Thanks.
  3. Solved. Downloaded latest config file from GoFlight.
  4. Windows 10 insists on seeing my TQ6 as a yoke. I have a CH Eclipse yoke also which usually calibrates without problems. The screenshot explains this better than words. The problem is that without calibration the throttles have a large dead zone and do not reach maximum power. I use FSUIPC and can see this from the values, not to mention problems during takeoff.... I'd be grateful for any ideas how to address this. Thanks!
  5. Really useful to know all this. Plan to use it in KDE Neon - if it plugsnplays in Arch should be easy-peasy. Thanks again!
  6. That's good to know. Thanks for the info. Any problems with calibration? Was the yoke recognised? Anything in particular you had to do like write udev rule, etc? Are your setting saved from one session to the next?
  7. I'm about to replace my 30 year old CH Eclipse. It's pots are past their best, odd spikes and jitters, and it is difficult/impossible to calibrate sometimes. The Honeycomb is a possible replacement. Before shelling out my hard-earned, I need to know if anyone is using it successfully in XP Linux, and if so, in which distro. Thanks!
  8. When we have to disable antivirus or firewalls to download and execute what we think is probably a bona-fide file it sort of defeats the purpose of the antivirus and the firewall. Or have I missed something?
  9. Thanks. Problem solved. Little Navmap is supposed to make a folder when it exports a Garmin GNS .fpl file for the first time. It didn't. Looks good now!
  10. I had this problem too a couple of days ago. Not only did I get a virus warning but the file disappeared before I got a chance to execute it. Windows Defender was Off. No AV running. I had to tell my router to let it through. The Flight1 e-commerce website has improved a bit with their F1 Purchase Agent, but when the old wrapper system kicks in I usually have problems. Every time I manage to reinstall something I promise myself - 'never again'.
  11. I am attempting to import an .fpl route from Little NavMap. I have followed the RXP GNS manual very carefully. The relevant file is where it should be .../GNS/FPL folder. The manual refers to the 3rd FPL page but my unit has only 2 FPL pages! Have I been short-changed? Or what? I'd be grateful for advice. John
  12. I'm homebound like so many others, and have come back to FS after a bit of a gap. I bought the latest Reality XP GNS v2. I opened the sim with the Milviz baron E55 and got a long list of possible gauge install options, Apart from the ones listed in the title, there are 400, 430, 420, 500, 530, 520 variants. I haven't even mentioned the GTN series (F1) which I used in W7 and FSX Acceleration a while back. I'd be grateful if someone could shine a light! Thanks. John
  13. Soap and warm water is fine but plenty of it. Diluting any viral contamination is important. Wash like a surgeon does, individual fingers and thumbs, palms, and back of hands for 20 secs at least. Very important to dry thoroughly - if you've washed properly your towels will not have virus on them but it is prudent to use fresh ones every day. Wash towels and clothes in hot water - 30-40 degrees in economy (i.e. low volume wash) may not kill or wash away the blighters. Avoid touching nose, mouth and eyes. Sorry if you know all this, but if it helps even one guy I'm glad I posted it.
  14. I bought the rxp530 on 9th Feb 2020 and downloaded the .zip to my Downloads folder. I extracted this and installed the gauge in several aircraft. I noticed that along with the rxp530 executable, I have two 430 executables - 'rxpGNS2-430-FSIM.exe' and rxpGNS2-430-FSIM_feb282020.exe. Running these brings me to the F1 e-commerce store. If I decide to buy the 430, which .exe file should I run? I'd be grateful for advice.
  15. Everything seems to be alright now. I re-booted both machines twice and suddenly the problem went away. Thanks for the program and help.
  16. Thanks. I followed all this exactly but still get the same result. Context menu on client map is largely greyed out. No option to select FSX under Load Scenery Library - I realise this is not the way to load the db. I copied it across as advised. I mention it because there is an FSX option on the Flying PC under Load Scenery Library.
  17. I have LNM 2.4.4 on both client and server (Flying) PCs. I have LNMConnect on the Server. The dialogues on both machines show that they are connected. When I open the client there is a map but no data apart from roads, ILS and a few other bits and bobs. When I right click, 'Set as Flight Plan Departure' etc is greyed out. Under the Scenery Library menu, when I open Scenery Library the MS Flight Simulator X is checked at the top. But the only Simulator option under 'Load Scenery Library' is X-plane. There is no option to choose FSX. On the server (flying PC) everything is working and I have the 'all10' Global files installed on it. It seems that the scenery database is missing from the client. I'd be grateful for advice on to sort this.
  18. Finally, this was sorted out and I now have the upgrade for the GNS 530. Thanks to all for interest and advice.
  19. Thanks. I am in negotiation with f1 about my account. It seems they could not find it but now have found it. I am hoping that this will eventually allow me to update the Reality XP GNS 530.
  20. I get this when I start FSX. When I download the .zip and extract it, I am taken to the f1 e-commerce page, from where it is impossible to install the above update. What to do, please?
  21. Good news about the purchasing and reinstalling. They should have done this years ago. As for the refund, it was a rhetorical question really. But the fact is that my RXP Garmins after less than 1 month are already out of date. And, I cannot update them.
  22. For some reason RXP uses the f1 e-commerce wrapper system for purchase and updates. For the latest update the entire file must be downloaded and installed from the f1 purchase page. There are two options there: One asks for the key (which I have); the other asks for a user name and a password which I also have. Sadly, the f1 server will not accept the key file. Not only that but it asks for the last four numbers of the credit card used for purchase. Not easy if you use PayPal, Nor will the f1 server accept my user name and password. It suggests contacting 'Support' to have this rectified. I spent best part of half an hour trying to find 'Support' only to discover it uses a Ticket system - Ughh! So, already (I bought the items on Nov 5, 2019) I have outdated versions of both the 530W and 430W, The cost of updates was included in the purchase price. Can I have a partial refund please?
  23. I'm fascinated by this program. It does so much and I am only getting used to it. So, forgive a couple of maybe foolish questions: In the Flight Report, the aircraft listed at the top is not the aircraft I flew in the flight plan. But, in the logbook entry, the correct aircraft is listed. The aircraft listed in the Flight Report (left side) was the one used for a previous flight. Also, the performance log records the correct aircraft. What am I doing wrong? Secondly, Life being what it is, I often have to pause for several hours during a flight. The program knows that something is up (or maybe down 😓). But it does not record the actual flying time, or the total time including the pause. For example, my last flight was 93 min flying time. The total time including pause would have been over 5 hours. But the time recorded for the flight was 2 hours 33 min. I'd be grateful for advice. Thanks! John
  24. John, I succeeded in the end by not attempting to change from the default settings for the Duke. As you might remember there is a menu option for settings after the Duke is installed initially. I just exited instead. After that I was able to install the Reality XP GNS 530 and I'm up and away again! Thanks again for your help and interest.
