  1. Say there is a VC cabin, like the Aeroworx B200. I can only go halfway the length of the cabin. Is there any config file I can tweak without needing to use active camera?
  2. LOL Just because the clouds are flat doesn't mean they are 'wrong'. Nature does have flat clouds too. That looks like an accurate depiction stratocumulus to me. A real meterologist might know more. :)
  3. >>Just wish there were more aussie paints of it.Ben, I've done an RFDS repaint, in case you haven't seen it yet at Avsim's library...
  4. And not only that, even when bugs are found (like the one caught a couple of weeks ago), the inherent opensourceness of the operation means that it gets patched up very quickly. That got patched in 24hours... User friendlines/intuitiveness wise, Firefox plus stuff like mouse gestures, tab browsing... is (understandably) way ahead of IE.
  5. >>the point is...why would people pay for a good freeware filesBecause people are not aware that it's free at another place (avsim, for instance.) It is perfectly reasonable for ordinary folk to chance upon fsplanet, feel that there's a lot of good content there, and pay for the extra service to get the files they want. Now, the fact that it is free at another place is not a right, it's very much a privilege. (Economic realities of the Internet.) Even though the freeware files themselves are free, it doesn't necessarily imply that the costs involved to maintain this database is free, hence the ads we see here and elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that. Personally, I'm not against webmasters recouping their costs, earning a revenue even, IF they're upfront about their operations with their freeware contributors, and IF they respect their authors' wishes. What is wrong however, and what people might not be aware of is the fact that some authors don't want their files to be put there, and yet the webmaster doesn't give a damn. And there's plenty of motivation for the webmaster to behave in this manner, easy money from ads, for eg.

  7. We'll not tollerate any longer defamantion of fsplanet or harassament of our site by any author any longer - we are particolarly targetting those authors wich uses txt or in the habit to post defaming messaging against fsplanet into theirs txt or setup's included in freeware files. We will not esitate to take legal action against those authors or sites in the future - and choice of who will be picted is at our legals discretions. - with legal action to follow. Also we are collecting evidence against those authors who are continuosly defaming fsplanet using txt file included in Freeware zip uploaded on the net. All signed fsplanet offensive txt files are collected and passed on to our sollicitors. We'll not tolerate the defamation of fsplanet or harrassment of our site by any author any longer. We are particularly targeting those authors who use readme.txt files or are in the habit of posting defaming messages against fsplanet into their readme.txt or setup.exe's included in their freeware files. We will not hesitate to take legal action against those authors or sites in the future, and whom we pick will be at our legal team's discretion. Also, we are collecting evidence against those authors who are continuously defaming fsplanet using readme.txt files included in their freeware .zip files uploaded at various places on the Internet. All signed readme.txt files offensive to fsplanet are collected and passed on to our solicitors. Thank you.
  8. >Well, thats way out of order Jon, why anyone would want to>attack such a prolific authour of great freeware as your self>is beyond me.>>It's totally counter-productive, I mean people could get fed>up, stop making addons, then he would have nothing to steal.>>I would be very interested to hear from the guy who supposedly>lost the law-suit against FSplanet>>Cheers>>Dan.I don't think he thinks it this way. The short term goal that he wants is for people to stop putting those readme.txt. I don't think he knows the work Jon has done specifically. It's just a generic initiative against people who are doing the .txt thing. That's the primary aim for the scare tactic. And it does work if the author doesn't want any hassle or is unsure of what is the safer thing to do.Solve the first problem first, and then visitors will come back eventually. (I must admit the website is quite attractive to the casual flightsimmer with nice pictures laid out, the jumping guy etc.) :)
  9. Jon, what he wrote to you was just plain idiotic...He's won yet another lawsuit!http://www.itsnotpersonal.com/ferdy.htm
  10. A long shot, maybe you can ask here.http://forums.simflight.com/viewforum.php?f=19

  12. The most outrageous thing I've yet seen! What's fun, though, is to use the picture with the lawyers as some sort of a caption/what-are-they-saying? contest. :)
  13. I've bookmarked your page quite a while ago...useful stuff for me when I reach Japan...;)
  14. >The only king air other than the defualt I thought was a>payware. I wont buy from the group that put out the b200. If>there is another one out there please advise.>>Also, Lizarado has a web site that offers some upgrades for>the King Air and others. I cant recall the site name but if I>find I will post it here for you.>>Take care.>>Mark.Well, Aeroworx's King Air is really good if you're looking for a payware version.Anyway to the first poster, I didn't recall having much problem landing the default King Air by following the included help files. Check your speed, perhaps you slowed down too much, too early?
  15. Although I don't forsee myself using this service because I don't do multiplayer, there seems to be quite a bit of FUD here. Again, if I read it correctly, this is not adware and spam or popups in the conventional sense of the word. If I haven't read it correctly, then yeah, they're crazy. LOLAdware seems to me to be stuff that stay in your computer, report your activities to another person, or hijack your computer's resources. Spam means intrusive stuff so extensive it interferes with your normal activities, most obviously seen in emails. Neither of this needs to be done to implement the project if the general privacy practices are respected. It is not an intrusion of privacy any more than I can say ads in yahoomail, gmail or hotmail or avsim frontpage are an intrusion of privacy. Emotionally, yes, that might be the case, but techically I don't think there is, it's all automated.I seriously doubt they will put in the ads in a payware version of the software. But I think many would be interested in a freeware alternative that shows ads. (If PMDB can offer such a thing for their 747 for e.g., I'd be the first to jump in. I don't mind looking at a few seconds of text in the ATIS to avoid paying the money!) :)
  16. gorzi, the website is back online...
  17. Another thing I've just thought of is that this is a free product (assuming that is indeed so.) Free products need ways to recoup their costs/earn more money.Just like the front page of Avsim has ads on the top of the webpage (taking up 20% of screen real estate on a 1024x768 monitor). Would I prefer less ads there? Maybe. But I think that's a little unreasonable because the service is provided as a gift, and they have the right to do what they need to do to continue operating (and of course we have the option too of not using the product.) As gifts go, there's also a thing about a horse's mouth or something... :)It's a balance between the benefits (hours of fun not previously available for FS?) vs the cost (10 seconds of looking at the ATIS voluntarily for the weather info and also looking at some text ads at the same time?) The only thing I'm worried is for them to go beyond standard privacy practices...
  18. I think the objections to this is a little overblown. I have no idea of the history of Lago, but as long as they are upfront in their readme.txt that users expect to get ads, and exactly how/where/when they will see the ads, I think it's fine.Another thing is that the ads will appear in the ATIS. That's not even like a popup window. That's just text, and it's more like a 'customer opt in' thing rather than an opt out. (ie. you need to press '+2 to see the ad.A little similar to the initial objections to ads in Gmail which is just way irrelevant... :)
  19. You can look at the other forum athttp://flightfactory-simulations.com/forum/index.php?board=4
  20. Thank you both. I got it working with a variation of Lionel's suggestion. :)
  21. I'm a complete newbie at repainting, so here goes.I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly, but everytime I edit the texture_i'm_doing.bmp, I need to exit FS, then restart FS and choose the aircraft to see the new texture reflected in the sim. Is there anyway to load the new texture without reloading the program? TIA
  22. >I realize there is a specific checklist to go through (you're>talking about the PDF checklist that came with it, right?) but>I just wanted to see if everything was in correctly. So, if I>did the autostart then I won't have some gauges showing,>correct?I'm refering to the walkthrough flight in one of the html documents in the 'doc' directory. It takes you from cold start to take off and landing. I think I see what you mean, you're refering to black guages before the plane is even started? That's absolutely normal. So just go through the walkthrough and you're see quite pretty things (and sounds!)
  23. Yes, you should get the fsuipc warning, well at least I do. Just ignore it.For missing guages, go to http://forums.fscentre.com/index.php?topic=982.0 and scroll to the bottom of the page. Most likely you didn't copy over some files correctly. The 2 packages needed arehttp://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=26699http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=37657There is no autostart, you need to read the manual that's in the 'doc' directory. It's (very) tough the first 2 times, then it'll be a breeze. As the previous person said, don't give up!!
  24. The changes to the panel can be found athttp://forums.fscentre.com/index.php?showtopic=559
  25. I found one at http://www.dmcity.com/slarty/route.html...jeff>There are tons of people that have flown around the world>with FS.. Now I want to do it, but are a bit lazy to do all>the route planning,... Is there anyone that has all the routes>planned out, and have all the VOR/ILS/ADF Frequencies for all>the airports that they flew to...>>Thanks in advance
