  1. I had the same exact problem. I had initially connected "My Book" hard drive to a USB 2.0 instead of 3.0. So when I switched it to a 3.0, it would not be recognized. The fix that worked for me is as follows: Keep the external drive connected on the 2.0, then go to "Device Manager" and find the external drive under the "Disk Drives". Click on "Drivers" and choose "Uninstall". It will ask if you are sure and say "yes". Do a shutdown of the computer. Once it's shut down, unplug the external drive from the USB 2.0 drive. Now start up the computer and after it finishes booting up completely, plug the external drive into the USB 3.0 drive. Windows should now recognize it cleanly and you are good to go!
  2. If it can be added to AI, that would be very interesting. I agree with Badfinger regarding VC flying, though.
  3. It has nothing to do with any tweaks. The log book may get corrupted from time to time. Download the "FSX logbook recovery" by Daniel Van Os and follow his instructions. Works every time. I'm not sure where I picked up the little program. Could be in the Avsim library or do a google search. Should resolve the logbook problem.
  4. Thanks everyone for the info for the "double Q" tap. I was suffering from the sound problem and will try this the next time the sound volume goes nuts on me...
  5. Thanks for the heads-up! Downloading it now.
  6. Yes, the shooting stars are part of FSX. I've seen them just a couple of times over the years. The eagles are an option in FSX to show updrafts, if not mistaken.
  7. dandimm, thanks for sharing that info. I wasn't aware that cloud shadows were to be included in FSX at some point.
  8. Very cool flight capture. You should have shown at least a pic of the Tuna sandwich, though!
  9. I have both LatinVFR KMIA v.2 and Drzewiecki Design "Miami City 2012" scenery running together and there is a significant FPS hit with both running at the same time. But after further testing, I found that the LatinVFR KMIA v.2 hit was negligible and it was the Drzewiecki scenery that had the greater impact. I will say that LatinVFR KMIA covers not only the airport but the scenery area surrounding it, making it a must-have, if you fly into and out of KMIA. The airport and scenery blows away the default scenery, without a doubt. My only negative with Drzewiecki's scenery, aside from the FPS hit, is the popping up of the HUGE number of autogen buildings, which is impressive when flying into KMIA from the East, over Miami Beach and downtown Miami. The worst issue for me is the placement of autogen trees, where they show up all over the place (in lakes, roadways, buildings, etc...).
  10. As far the MTX Aircraft Config settings go, I have the same settings as you show above, but with the addition of the "Use models for widescreen" option clicked as well. In the DX10 Fixer, I'm having trouble posting a print-screen. Basically it's working for me with the default settings. I did tweak one or two later on, just to see if there was a difference, and I'm honestly not sure if there is.
  11. MarkVcz, I am not flying on VATSIM, but did fly with MTX under DX10. I should have mentioned that as well.
  12. MarkVcz, In the "Aircraft Config editor" shown above, make sure to click on the box for "Use models for wide screen". This will make the AI wing tip lights more to scale and not big red and green blobs. It makes a world of difference, visually.
  13. No problem, Adi518. I brought balance to the Force and liked your post...
  14. Very nice! Looking forward to flying it. Thanks, Ron!
  15. I have version 1.1, Build 26 and it too is missing the later parts that you mentioned: //FSX Base Runway markings (white) //[Markings] //Type=1 //On=137761 //Debug=0 //ForceDepth=1
  16. I've noticed that problem with the LatinVFR Miami International Airport during the night. I'm not sure if it's their airport or with possible addon textures, but I remember reading that LatinVFR's airport was not DX10 compliant. That would explain it..
  17. Wow! I've been getting the dreaded "ntdll.dll" crashes for some time now and never thought of MTX5.4c as being the culprit. I'm definitely heading over to the forums and checking out that patch. Thanks for the heads-up, guys!
  18. Here you go! http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=98186&CatID=fsxutil
  19. Actually, I'm supposed to fly the aircraft however I like. I do mostly fly from the VC but I enjoy switching through the different views that MS kindly provided us with, from time to time. With EZdok, those views are even better. It lets me appreciate the airplane that I'm flying and the scenery that I'm overflying. Having a different pilot figure, in my case a male figure, to select from, helps with the sense of actually being the pilot flying the plane. As soon as I swap to an outside view and get a glimpse of our "happy girl", that suspension of unbelief is immediately lost. It's actually not a big deal, as I mentioned previously, I simply turned off the option to show a pilot. Still, it would be nice to have options.
  20. I use the default Robinson to check out new airports or sceneries. The default Cessna loads up my default free flight, though. I think the only default aircraft I fly from time to time on regular flights would be the Maule. I find that plane comparable to many payware planes.
  21. What is the point you are attempting to "drive home"? Personally, I prefer a different representation to the current female pilot with the constant idiot grin. I like A2A's way of allowing one to select a pilot from several different options, in their Cessna 172.
