  1. >Why then does FS9 installation have a requirement for a "DX9.0>or later" graphics card?yup, that´s right, but in my opinion there is only one simple reason for that: earlier versions of DirectX are no more supported by MS. That´s why they say one must have such a graphic card and DirectX 9.Have a look at some pictures from FSX, there are DirectX 9 features fully implemented. Take the graphic from some modern games that support Direct3D and you will see the features of DirectX9.All i wanna say is that updating to the latest version of DirectX will for sure not positive affect FS9, in the same way the newest and fastest graphic card in the world will not bring any more performance gain in FS9. What we all need is a clean and optimized programmed FSX.Ron
  2. >No idea, but my philosophy is: newer software is usually less>bug laden than older (and exceptions prove this rule).>>So, I'll install it anyway...>>Andreasif there were any critical bugs in DirectX one would have problems in any application that use DirectX. Also FS9 doesn´t support any of the DirectX 9 features, i think at the time FS9 was released DirectX 8 was the standard. It is not always the best to update software like this just to be up to date. Without having installed that latest DirectX version i say there will be no improvements in FS9, maybe in FSX we will see some or all of the latest features implemented.Ron
  3. hello,i think the problem has to do with the copy protection fsquality used on his cd´s. do you have any burning software like clonecd or alcoholer installed ?I have their Roads of Europe and the Dash 8-300 both on cd´s and it takes forever until the drive recognices the cd.if nothing helps try installing the software in windows safe mode.Ron
  4. for flying in europe try this one www euroutepro.com, i use this very often, it
  5. hello all,i´m just wondering if one of you is using the saitek software for the x52. I´m asking because i have a lot of troubles with this stick regardless if using the stick with saitek drivers and software or just with plain microsoft drivers. The problem is that the throttle even when set full back is never down to 0 percent in every aircraft. When the throttle is in his full back position the throttle levers in all aircrafts show 6 percent throttle applied. Also the Windows calibration interface shows that the throttle isn´t fully back. Same happens to the large knob on the throttle.Might it be possible that this has something to do how many usb devices are connected to the computer?Any help on this?ThxRon

  7. hi,i would suggest to convert the textures from this model into the DXT3 format. This can be done with an tool called imagetool. Do a google-search for this tool or look into one of your FS2004 CD
  8. does the same happens when without any additional addons installed, just the vanilla FS9 ? I had similar problems until i discovered that there is an update for active camera available. With a new clean installation try to start the sim without that update to version 9.1 and without the no-cd. If this installation performs quite normal, update FS9 to version 9.1 still with the original fs9.exe (means no no-cd) and also no additional addons installed. If the update to version 9.1 performs well then install your addons etc.I had a problem with the fspassengers.dll (a module for the FSPassengers addon) that was not compatible to the version of the active camera dll i used at this time. I had the same problems like you. Than i checked the site for the active camera addon and there was a newer version available which solves the problem with fspassengers.dllcheers,Ron
  9. happy new year to all, will make my small tweaks to the POSKY FDE

  11. "Also, has anyone managed to successfully merge this panel with the POSKY 747-400 GE engined model????"yup, i did it, with some tweaks in the aircraft.cfg for adapting the weights and static points etc for the posky model. i took the posky aircraft.cfg and implemented the necessary parts from the ifly aircraft.cfg. i
  12. hi,no ground steering problem here but strange problems with VOR navigation in LOC mode. Did a short trip yesterday with smooth landing.I

  14. regarding the slow performanve problem in 2D:The Mainpanel uses a very small bitmap as background (1x1 Pixel in size), as a unhappy owner of the FT 737 PIC i just used their background bitmap for testing and put this instead of the original one in the panel.cfg in section window01.Before that change i got 6 fps in 2d and around 20 fps in VC, after that change i get 15-18 fps in 2d no change in VC.I found this as i tried to open the panel in fspanelstudio and all panel windows had a very small size on my screen, i couldn
  15. if you plan to fly in europe check this site: http://www.euroutepro.com/euroute_module.htmThis one is my favorite flight planner of course it doesn
  16. Bryan,i finaly solved the problem with the groundcomm gauge on my system ! As i said above the problem occurs with version 2.0 of AC2004 and version 2.1 (the latest). The first time the error occurs was with version 2.0 installed, i then d/l the update to version 2.1 and installed this, same problem.Today i went back to their website and saw that there is also a full installation package which installs version 2.1 without the need for an update. So i decided to deinstall Active Camera 2004, first the update i made (ver.2.1) and then the whole package (ver. 2.0), rebooted and installed then the new installation package with version 2.1 already on board, and what can i say, all the error messages about the groundcomm gauge are gone. It seems that did the trick. For everyone with the same problem, try deinstall Active Camera 2004, download the new installation package for version 2.1, install, register with your key and load the FS2Crew-ATR. For me this works.Cheers,Ron
  17. hi,it took me an hour until i noticed that the error loading the groundcomm gauge had something to do with Active Camera 2004. I moved all 3rd party dll
  18. i solved this problem on my system by removing the activecamera.dll from the modules folder. Do you use Active Camera 2004 version 2.0 or 2.1 ? If so try removing this dll but make a backup. It works for me in that way that i can now use FS2Crew with the ATR but cannot use Active CAmera 2004 anymore.Hope this helps,Ron
  19. hellosame problem here with the groundcomm gauge. as soon as i select the F1 ATR in the menu FS9 says that there is an error with that gauge, the aircraft (atr) loads then normal, i got a black window in the upper left corner (where the faulty gauge should be).I followed strictly the manual when setting up my flight (no saved flight, did everything in the config.manager etc). Thanks for any helpRon
  20. try this site, maybe the charts are a bit outdatet:http://www.vacc-sag.org/?PAGE=airport_info. Under SELECT AIRPORT choose the one you want.Hope this helpsRon
  21. while i fly mostly in europe i always use a tool called EUroute2004. It has all the features i need including actual weather on departing and arrival airport, export the flight plan into FS2004 GPS format and much much more. The idea behind this tool is to provide actual and predefined routes for flightsimmers. For more informations see this link: http://www.euroutepro.com/euroute_module.htm . BTW its free and only needs registration for the online routes-database.cheers,Ron
  22. hello,is it just me or has anyone else problems connecting to PRECISONMANUALS.COM (PMDG). Since three day i cannot connect to this site - my browser always show a connection timeout message. Thanks,Ron
  23. >Those aren't FS10. They're just from a development of the FS9 engine >using a new version of DirectX, if memory serves. The pics i´ve seen were from FS10, weeks ago someone posted some of those pics (photos) from the same magazine. I´ve also read the whole interview ( 4 Pages)that the FlightXpress-Team did with the MS-Developers, if no one believes or thinks he knows almost everything about FS10 lets wait until autumn 2006.And yes, the interviewed developer from MS said the available hardware in autumn 2006 will not be sufficient for FS10, the same as FS9 was released, no one had the hardware to play on a sufficient performance level.Ron
  24. From the German FlightXpress Magazine, which interviewed some MS Developer on IFC Blackpool 2005:Release Date:Autumn 2006 ?Name: FS10Performance: The Hardware available on release date will not be sufficient for FS10, maybe in 2 years (2008). FS10 will use DirectX10 (new graphic features in FS10 will be Bloom, Bumpmapping, special Reflections, new hardware shaders HLSL 2.0 etc).Lefteris Kalamaris (PMDG) said in this Interview the PMDG 747 has already some features only available in FS10 on board, and needs only to be activated. (Who knows)!!!I have seen some very nice screenshots from FS10 in the FlightXPress Magazine. Airplanes are reflected on wet runways, also the sky. Much better autogen and scenery design (Buildings and sky reflected on a lake). Looks very impressive.Hope this helps,Ron
  25. Hans, can you confirm that your other applications also seems to load slow and need more times than before. My suggestion is to check whether your harddisk is running in DMA5 mode or not, do this in your system configuration. I would give you exact instructions how to check your harddisk settings but i
