  1. In Active Sky 6 there's an option under "Startup and General": Start Paused (Refresh to Start).I can't find that one in ASX, and that's a bit annoying. I never fly realtime (if I did I'd do nothing but night flying), and I move around a lot, so ASX is almost always in the wrong place at the wrong time at startup!I would love to have the Start Paused option in ASX too ...Eagle
  2. Gardermuen (funny ATC pronouncement in ASX) is actually one of the airports that is quite well done in stock FSX Deluxe version.Combined with Cloud9 Flesland you could have a pleasant flight over the mountains and end up in very scenic aerea in the western Norway. Also there are some nice freewae addons for Norway.I
  3. I don't understand that either. I did it all the same and noticed that FSX wrote back the exact same lines to the cfg. file as before, only I had to activate aa and af through the user interface again.Like Allcott says, make sure you don't lose those settings in the cfg file youv'e so carefully proveded it with ;-)Eagle
  4. Hi folks! Now with all these cewl environment and weather options I would like to fly a good fighter. Anyone tried the new Alphasim Saab Gripen?Hope it's not a framehog with all those glass instruments! The refresh rate in Alphasim VC's usually are very good, but is that also so with this modern instrumentation? And how does it feel to fly?Eagle
  5. Hi,it was not easily set up, but when I finally got it set up I am very pleased with it. Don't know if this is the correct procedure, but this is how I went:1. Loaded ASX on the client and went to departure airport from Map2. Clicked "Report" in ASX and clicked "Install X Graphics Textures"3. Started FSXBoth FSX and X Graphics are on the client. This is what I got, I am very pleased with it (even with 128 textures):http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...58901&mode=fullEagle
  6. Actually I am up and running now, thank you!!!But am I happy with the situation? Eh ... no.But before I get started:1) From what I've seen running FSX and XG on the server the result is absolutely stunning
  7. >The ip should be the server IP address or servername if ip>dynamic in both the simconnect.cfg and the simconnect, xmlI didn't know that, but even with this setting (I tried both currently assigned ip and machine name) it still won't connect>>The simconnect.cfg should be placed in the root of your My>Documents folder on the client not the server.>It is ;-)>Port 500 should be opened on any firewalls you have, both>server and client.>I have done nothing to "open" it, but the MacAfee firewall is off on the server and the Win XP firewall is off at the client.>The simconnect.msi should be run on the client (you can find>it on the server in the following location "your FSX>installation pathmicrosoft flight simulator x sdkSDKCore>Utilities KitSimConnect SDKconfig>I have ran that.>Please tell us how you get on.>>Thanks>Carl Hackman>http://www.hifisim.com>http://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg
  8. Thank's Chris. Maybe I'm dim, but could you please explain in a more pedagogic way:1. Do this2. Dot that3. etc.Thank you ;-)Eagle
  9. Oh no, does this mean that we who suffer from this somewhat toxic water can't use Wx Influenced textures yet?Eagle
  10. Well, I went through the whole process again, making sure everything was set up right
  11. I do take a trip to an island very often, in the sim, in a Beaver. And I need a map.
  12. Hi,with ASX on the server everything is working like a charm, but when I try to use ASX on a client they doesn't seem to interact. Everything is set up according to help description, firewalls and virus protection off. Please see attached log files.Eagle
  13. I am with you on the developer POV, he has done a tremendous job on the addictive Navigator. However, the default map is beyond stink, I simply do not fly at all whith this as the only option. FSX has been out for a looooong time, and I simply couldn't stretch my patience any longer. So I went out and looked for an alternative, and found one. This actually reminds me of my own professional situation. Right now I have two choices
  14. These are the "Save as" options:FSC/FSRadar ContactSqualkboxOldSqualkboxNewPMDG 737PMDG 747IVAOLevelDIt is a separate program, not a module, so I don't know if it it runs while the sim is running. There is a setting somewhere in FSX where you can tell fs not to stop on task switch, but it has never worked for me in Vista. I think most people use FSC on a separate computer, which is extremely convenient. Do you have a laptop, old computer or intelMac at hand?Eagle
  15. Ulf,my last flight wasn't a very successful one I must admit, but that might as well be pilot error.I managed to insert SID/STAR in the FMS, and to my knowledge the waypoints looked fine. Speed/Altitudes in the SID/STAR waypoints are highlighted with magenta color in the flightplan. For some reason I couldn't get the vnav managed. I pushed the Alt knob (to give it to the computer, as they say). But all I got was a Idle thrust pitch controlled descend. Maybe I did something wrong along the line, I'll be glad if someone could help me out here.Oh, and regarding an earlier post, I said that I forced the decsend phase from the FMC. That's wrong, I must have been thinking about the app phase ...Eagle
  16. I still have some stuff to try before I can answer to all of this. Actually, I am gonna try a flight from Gardermoen to London tonight to test SID/STAR functionality. As for the LNAV I am sure it will work with SID/STAR considering the fact that it follows everything else in the flightplan. But i haven't tested VNAV yet. What I know is that it activates decend (or you can force it in the FMC)*, and it decelerates when it's supoosed to. Also a fully automated landing is possible. The only thing I am not sure about is how to operate the FBW system after touchdown (in the real thing). Should I push the sidebutton on the stick (z) when the nosewheel hit the ground, and then apply reverse thrust?I don't know what bugs that are in question (and I would rather not read the review over again) but if you list them here I can see if I can give you some answers, one by one ...I read somewhere that the fmc doesn't tune in the ILS according to flgtplan, but it does, as long as the runway is selected in the arrival page in the FMC.The nose-drop if you disconnect the AP on approach didn't occur on my flights, maybe it has something to do with FSUIPC.*On the side: I have noticed, both with F1 Maddog, PMDG 737 and this Airbus that if you start decend according to flightplan you never reach target altitude before the approach phase. So I always end up forcing decend some 10-20 miles before the calculated point. Is this normal, or am I douing something wrong?Very exited about how my SID/STAR test will turn out, just have to finish downloading and installing some HiFiSim stuff first :-).Eagle
  17. Seems like the Wilco/Feelthere Airbus don't have much status in the community. Maybe because of a buggy first release and a not very popular distributor ...However
  18. Tired of waiting I bought FS Commander instead. The first impression wasn't the best, but after getting into it it turned out to fill the gap after FS Navigator! In fact there are things I even like better with it.Also I have FS Commander on a separate pc, connected through Wide FS. By placing both Active Sky and FS Commander on a separate pc I take some workload off the main pc, and besides it's incredibly convenient! So: if you have an old pc, laptop or Intel iMac, why not use it?Eagle
  19. Thanks Paul, the review was (as always) part of the reason why I finally decided to buy it. And the fact that they have sorted out the bugs. No serious problems except that I never have managed to exit the sim or change aircraft from the Airbus without a CTD. As long as I can complete a flight before the sim crashes I can live with that bug, but it is annoying, I like to do a VFR flight from the destination airport after an IFR flight, w/o any changes in time/weaher etc. :-).Eagle
  20. Yes, I know about that, looks fantastic! Reality XP is one of the things that I miss in FSX.But while we wait for that one I think the FT Airbus is a very fine alternative. As far as I know it is the only airliner for FSX with an FMC and advanced systems, am I right? With autogen off (which is ok for IFR flying) I get very decent framerates as well, even with my oldish single core box :-).Eagle
  21. True enough, but things are starting to show up now. Since I got no responses for my request I just went out and bought the Feelthere Airbus, and I am very pleased with it! The FBW works in a intuitive way with a audible response when moving the throttle from one mode to another, the FMC works well for my way of flying, all the important stuff are there, and I get some help to calculate fuel/weight/vspeeds etc. (don't like to dig into schemes to find that info). The systems works fine and are complex enough. All in all a very nice Airbus. I only wish there were a SAS Scandinavian Airline livery available for the A321 ...Eagle
  22. Me too, :-jumpy I've been flying both my new airliner (Wilco Bus) and VFR, and no tweaking whatsoever lately, here are some shots from the western fjords of my lovely home country:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...58175&mode=fullHowever, those tweaks you mentioned may work for me too, so I wonder if you could provide me with some more details, like what section to put the SmallPartRejectRadius and maybe what / where Genreloaded trees from Adnan Arif is.EDIT: Never mind, I found the tweaks and files in the forum, trying it now ...Eagle
  23. Hi,now that my FSX finally runs ok, I'd like to fly some airliners again. I used to have fly the PSS Airbus. The new one should have systems that works well, a good FMS, and feel good to fly by hand as well. Also it is important that the FBW system works properly, and it mustn't be too heavy on the framerates. I think I also have to add that I can't stand bad graphic work, that's why I like the PSS 2D panels so much ...Too much to ask for maybe?Eagle
