  1. Hi there!Unfortunately the Helsinki New York route is no longer operated with MD 11, but with A330. Surely you can still do it in the sim though. :)Next year all the MD 11s from Finnair will be gone, as they are replaced with A330/A340, and later A350 XWB. Sad indeed. :(I was also sad that KLM is no longer using 747 on the Kuala Lumpur/Jakarta route. I occasionally travel that route and always liked the fact that they use my favourite plane (747-400)
  2. Hello,My s turn issues with PMDG MD 11 were solved by disabling all turbulence in FSUIPC.
  3. Check out the website: http://aerowinx.com/Release is planned for 2010. I'm sure there must be people here who used to enjoy the old PS for DOS :) I recall Robert Randazzo was the ATC voice in that sim.
  4. The reason I, and many others have separate ultra-wide visuals is that we could have a big view of the world, more close to that of a real airplane. Just imagine, 3 monitors acting as "windows" of the cockpit, and 1 monitor for the instrument panel below them. This just wont work with a VC only airplane, since VC forces you to contantly change the eyepoint from looking down, looking forward, looking down again... and so on. Very impractical for manual flying. If you change the view so that VC shows both the instruments AND the outside view, the whole idea of a separate visual is gone since the instruments will block a large part of the view. As beautiful as the VC of this plane is, its no use for me without a functioning 2D panel. Ok, its not a disaster for me if I have to skip buying this plane, but if this is also the trend for all future products, then it is a disaster, lol.Anyway, I undestand that PMDG cant make their design desicions based on requests from some marginal group that have wide visuals and instrument panels below them, but its a personal loss for us that we now grief in these forums ;) I have also read disappointed comments about the missing 2D panel in a Nordic flightforum in my own language, so I'm not the only one.
  5. Thats correct. VC is good if you only use single monitor (which is probably the majority of users), but there are still users with multiple monitors, who have a separate visual and instrument displays. Thats why 2D panel is not entirely history yet. Lots of people still need it. Another thing is that with complex aircraft with FMS etc. it can sometimes be difficult in VC, to start programming the FMC and clicking all those switches, especially if you want to hand fly at the same time. It would surely be nice to know that at least the new version of NG will still have 2D panels.
  6. Too bad there wont be a 2D panel in this product, but is this also going to be the case with the NG 2.0 ?
  7. Thank you for the preview Robert! The airplane looks astoundingly beautiful! I see that Vin probably rendered the textures in the 3D software, "baking" all the nice photoreal effects and shadows to the virtual cockpit. Excellent work!If possible, could we see some shots of the 2D panel as well? I fly with multiple monitors, so 2D panel is the one I use most.It looks very interesting, and I will surely keep supporting you by getting this plane. A nice change from flying big jets.
  8. I believe it will land there, provided you know how to. ;) At least Yeti Airlines operates the aircraft, and they fly in the Himalayas.
  9. Hello Luis,Thanks a lot for continuing work with SbuilderX! It is my favourite scenery design tool, and I'm glad to hear that there will be the automatic tile downloading function for different zoom levels. Is there already some public beta available of the new version? I would love to try that out.
  10. Hello,Does this mean that for FSX, this issue is impossible to overcome and probably wont get a fix ever?
  11. Yes, it would be really great if this gets fixed. The popping is totally ruining the immersion of otherwise great depiction.
  12. Hi Jim,Yes, I'm using the SP1 Beta. Still, the weather schemes change suddenly, for example, an almost clear conditions may exist, and then suddenly some thunderstorm clouds pop up right in front of the aircraft.I hope this gets fixed and the cloud popping wont happen anymore.
  13. Hello,One of the problems with ASA in FSX is that the weather around you suddenly changes in a second. This is particularly visible with clouds, when they can suddenly appear or disappear. Is there any option I should check in ASA to prevent this from happening? If not, will there be a fix soon that will take care of this problem?

    737 Ngx

Hello,We can only make guesses, but considering that the MD-11 took around 4 years to develop, I would guess that the NGX would take around 2 years, keeping in mind that right now they are still working on the FS9 version of the MD-11. Why not as long as the MD-11? Because PMDG already has knowledge of the airplane, but its still a complete remake from ground up and not an update of the previous product.
  15. You dont really need thousands these days to upgrade to a system that runs FSX well. After a year or two (I'm sure the NGX will take at least a couple of years to develop from scratch) you can get a system that runs FSX well for a ridiculously low price.I agree with Matthew that its time to move on. FSX is a superior product in many ways.
  16. I agree with Matthew, it would be nice to be able to fly the queen with the same fps as MD-11. :(
  17. I'm not an FS9 user anymore, but great to hear that those who still are will soon get to fly this plane too. Also good for us FSX users to know theres an update coming to an already very perfect simulation. How are things going with the NGX product by the way? Now that one of the programmers has left PMDG, I hope this product is still going strong in development? Can't wait for it, even though MD-11 is keeping me busy right now, and NGX is probably still a few years away (my guess). :)
  18. Susan,If the stabilizer trim moves a certain range (a certain amount of units), that warning will sound. Try holding down your trim buttons for a long time and you should hear this warning.
  19. As a 3D modeler who is not affiliated with PMDG, I would like to state my opinion, which is that the MD-11 is not only techically, but also visually a step forward from 747X.But as any professional graphic designer knows, sometimes the client wants things that actually look uglier. :)We all have different tastes. Perhaps the MD-11 cockpit design just doesnt please your eye? You can blame McDonnell Douglas for that. ;) But in terms of accuracy and visual quality, the PMDG version is by far the best in their line. And they managed to do it with incredible frame rates!I feel a bit sorry for the team, because this is the best airline simulation so far for FS, and they have to read these comments. They have really done an amazing job brining out the MD-11.Btw, to the complaint that the panels look too cartoonish: I disagree. They look very realistic and are in perfect balance with how FSX looks like.
  20. Thank you for the very detailed answer Markus!I also thought LSAS can sometimes make things more difficult, but perhaps its just a matter of getting used to it. :) And there must be a reason why its fitted with the aircraft.
  21. Will there be a paintkit to add your own face to the set? :D
  22. Hi,While learning this great airplane, particularly the hand flying part, I came to wonder if in real world the pilots use the manual trim (yoke trim switches) during normal operations when LSAS is active and operating normally? As the LSAS is limited to small inputs below 1500 AGL, it could sometimes be necessary to manually trim the airplane if I'm guessing right? What I've experienced in the simulation is that there is mainly no need of manual trimming so far, but I'm only in the beginning of my MD-11 career.I also wonder if pilots find the MD-11 easy to fly, cause so far I've found it a little trickier in some situations than the 747, or espacially the LvlD 767.
  23. UPDATE:The problem was the latest Norton Antivirus 2009!Uninstalling it made the problem go away. I have no idea though how it could cause it.PMDG can put this info down in case someone else experiences a similar problem.
