  1. Hello,

Thanks for the reply myanezt, but what do you mean exactly? You run two different machines, but you have 2 instances of X-Plane on machine #1 and a third instance on machine #2?

I'm glad if it works for you, it would be nice though if it could also connect to the HSI (or whichever instrument) on the master machine. Do you mean that you can only use the GTN to view a moving map/terrain? You cannot use it to connect to autopilot or tune radios, transponder etc.?

  2. Hello Jean-Luc,

The goal is that I could use the master machine as the main simulator PC with the scenery view or in VR, and the second machine with a touchscreen to control the GTN750. Using the 750 on the touchscreen machine should also update everything on the master machine and vice versa. I assume this is not possible then since I doubt X-Plane itself could sync all the data of two 750s over network?

  3. Prepar3d might just be the future of computer flight simulation, so I strongly wish PMDG would at least seriously investigate/follow the options of porting the NGX and future products for it. Now that it seems that FLIGHT will be nothing more than a small flying game, where you only fly in Hawaii, Prepar3d seems like the way to go for the future.

  4. I bought it and tried it. It is nice and you can certainly create some nice lighting schemes with it. I was a bit disappointed though, as I thought it would also add better definition (terrain shadows) to the midday (noon) situations. The FSX terrain looses a lot of detail during the day with the flat shading.

  5. Hi Guys, I just read in several forums that for Sandy Bridge the recommended DRAM voltage would be 1.50. So I'm now running my RAM at 1333 with that voltage being scared of damaging the CPU again. However I have not found any official specification from Intel yet as to what is the highest recommended DRAM voltage for the 2600k. Btw, does your CPU run constantly on the overclocked frequency (in Glenn's case 4.6Ghz) or does it use the turbo mode (so it tunes down the frequency when not using much of the CPU)? For some reason when I overclock, even if the turbo mode is selected on, it will always run at the overclock even with little or no load to the CPU.

  6. I was using my computer (specs below) normally, when suddenly the power turned off. I couldn't power it up anymore. Something was clearly wrong. I started probing the components one by one. Changed the power supply, which didn't change anything. Tried another graphic card, which also didn't change anything. Then I went to get a new motherboard, as it seemed that it wouldn't turn on if the CPU EATX power cable was connected. After changing the motherboard, the power turns on, but the "CPU" LED on the motherboard lights up. I checked my processor installation again and everything was good, so I guess my 2600K just suddenly broke up on me! Now my question is, why do you guys think it failed? Was it too much overclock (the temperatures were always low and cooling was adequate)? Or could it be just bad luck? And what do you guys think, will it go in for a warranty after I've overclocked it to 4500Mhz? Going to get a new one soon... I would appreciate any input on this.

  7. Hi, Just dropping by to say that for the first time in my FS history (a long one), I can 100% rely on the VNAV and LNAV functioning as they should, and that they will obey all restrictions. It's amazing how accurately you've managed to model it. I must admit I thought we wouldn't see this happen in FSX. You guys have exceeded all expectations! I must also say that the sound set is so true to life that, when combined with the amazing graphics and modeling of the systems/flight model, it really makes you feel like you're "there". It's just pure joy from startup to shutdown. Like having your own real 737! Thank you!

  8. Got the freeze too today. I was setting up the FMC for the flight, and somewhere during selecting dep/arr procedures and going to the LEGS page, the displays froze. Actually I was still able to zoom in/out on the ND, but the mode change didn't do anything, and also selecting arpt or wpt etc. on the efis cp did not do anything. I could type in the FMC, but the text would not show on the scratchpad. I tried to save my flight and restart FSX, but the panel state did not save at all. However I did NOT experience any loss of textures or anything like that. Aside from NGX, I was running UT2, Active Sky Evolution (networked from another computer), EZdok camera and FSUIPC. OS is Win7 64bit and FSX version is SP2 (no acceleration). Computer specs below.

  9. The new key commands I created for the FO EFIS control panel are saving, but the ones I delete from the captain's are not, so they are always back to default after restarting. No problem with the terrain issue. If the performance is an issue, maybe in the future it could be possible to create and option to choose which pilot's ND displays the terrain?

  10. Hello to everyone enjoying this wonderful airplane! Don't know if anyone else has tried this, but I have tried to delete the keyboard commands from the captain EFIS control panel, because I want to assign it to the FO one. Everything works fine until restarting FSX. That's when I find that the captain EFIS key commands are back and conflict with the FOs. I don't have the manuals on this computer, but if anyone knows what I'm missing here, please let me know. Another thing I would like to know is if it's possible to have the terrain display on the first officers ND as well? Or is it not there in the real aircraft either? These are not too big of an issues to me, I just like flying from the FO side due to my controller setup and it would be nice to get around these couple of things.

  11. You always need to use just a bit, but not as much as you would need with no YD....Its just to keep the situational awareness up is all... YD isn't that important in turns as much as it is in straight and level flight to prevent a dutch roll in aircraft that are unstable in the yaw axis. See http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Dutch_roll
Ok thanks, that cleared it up to me. For some reason it has always been a bit unclear to me if the airliners need any rudder input at all in manual flight.

  12. 1. Flying manually is more fun, it offers more of a challenge, CWS was only used to reduce workload partially, makes it fly kinda like an airbus, at least that was what I was told about FBW on my airbus induction course.... 2. Yes, the YD is left on the whole flight, rudder is still needed but not alot, thats there to keep the pilot aware of how he is flying the plane.... Sorry if that's a bit simple...
Hi, Thanks for the answers! Could you elaborate a bit on the second one though. Do you mean you always need to use a bit of rudder in manual turns, or just occasionally if the yaw damper can't keep up?

  13. Nice video! Arises a couple of questions from me: 1. To my understanding, turning on the CWS offers autotrim and "bank hold". How often is it normally used? Since Nick said you need to pay a lot of attention into trimming the airplane vs. the MD-11, I would be curious to know why not just turn on the CWS after takeoff? 2. Is the yaw damper normally turned on throughout the flight? So even when flying by hand, you don't need to use any rudder input except in crosswind landings? In MD-11, the YD does not seem to be able to keep the "ball" centered, and I'm wondering if the 737 has actually got the first fully working yaw damper simulation in PMDG (or FS) history?

  14. Garuda Indonesia 737-800 WL. They now seem to have lot's of these in their fleet. Personally, I would love it if you would paint the PK-GMC one, as I have a 1:100 desktop model of that plane. I grabbed it at Jakarta airport and was thinking how great it is that we will soon be able to fly this plane "as real as it gets", thanks to PMDGs innovative and highly dedicated team.

  15. FSUIPC is a really simple tool to assign joystick buttons as key commands. Just set the keys in pmdg menu and then do the assigning to the joystick buttons through fsuipc. It does not work if you do it from fsx joystick options, as it simply assigns the joystick button to perform the function, instead of making it emulate a key press.

  16. Mark,Thanks for letting me know that. Last year's grounding of air traffic was something not seen before in the whole world due to volcanic ash, so I thought something could have been done better. On the other hand if you're not sure, it is of course never a good idea to try your luck, but rather be safe than sorry. So it's understandable they did what they did until they found out more facts about it.I wonder if the engine manufacturers are actually finding ways to make the engines less vulnerable to such air particles.

  17. Does anyone actually know what they decided is the right action to do in the future, if an eruption like last year's Eyjafjallajökull occurs? I remember reading somewhere that on many of those days the planes were grounded, they could've actually been flying, and if the same happened today, it wouldn't be as bad for the air traffic?

  18. Have you guys had trouble with the Warthog throttle at all in FSX? RSR got a Warthog the other week and he tells me that he can't get the throttle axis to work right in FSX - it's always limiting it to something like 42-97% instead of 0-100 like it should be. It works fine in DCS A-10C. I saw similar reports on some of the combat simming sites too.
I have not had any trouble with the throttle axis at all in FSX, and I must say the Warthog throttle is the best feeling throttle I've ever used. While I don't know how exactly does the throttle of a real jet aircraft feel like, I'd say this is about as close as you can get right now (if you don't count the $1000+ units). The only problem I've had with the Warthog is the throttle's microstick/mouse axis, which is erratic and unusable. This does not really matter to me though as I don't really need it for anything. For what it's worth, I have all the null zones set to 0 for the throttle and maximum sensitivity. It might also be useful to try to calibrate it through FSUIPC.
