  1. I recently had a problem witn MSFS Update Manager getting stuck in "checking for updates" mode after an update in progress accidentally got interrupted.

Here's how I solved the problem:

1:  I googled "how to completely uninstall MSFS from my computer".

    2.  One of the solutions that came back said to rename the Community folder to "Test_Community" and run MSFS.  This did not fix the problem.

    3. Next I renamed the OneStore folder "Test_OneStore" and this DID fix the problem.  I got the normal Update Manager window that included an update to be installed.

    4.  Before installing the update I attempted to track down  the specific file or files in the OneStore folder that were causing the problem by renaming each folder, one at a time, top to bottom dated 3/24/23 (the date when an update got interrupted accidentally causing MSFS to get stuck in the "Checking for updates" window) adding ".tmp" to each file and then running MAFS.  I got to the 12th file when I got the normal MSFS Update Manager.  I left these files renamed with ".tmp" and ran the update.  MSFS has  been running normally since then.  It wasn't necessary to remove the ".tmp" because MSFS generated new files to replace them.

    5. Before closing MSFS and restarting it to confirm that the problem was fixed I used Content Manager to update any file with a pending update.

    6. MSFS is now running normally.

  2. If you didn't have rudder pedals, you could, in past versions of FS use auto-coordination to operaed the yoke and rudders simultaneously.  Does MSFS have this as well?  I'm unable to use my rudder pedals, at least for the time being, after having my right foot amputated two months ago.  I lost my left foot in 2018.  I hope to be getting a prosthetic for the right foot in a month or two.  In the meantime it'll be difficult to operate the rudders via the keyboard.  With prosthetics I'll be able to operate the rudders (but not the toe breaks)..

Sorry, can someone move this to the Tips and Tricks forum?

  4. I've tried all the suggestion none of which worked unfortunately.  MSFS is still stuck in "checking for updates" mode.

Tried to reinstall MSFS  over itself but Microsoft Store wouldn't allow it.  Uninstalling MSFS doesn't actually removes MSFS from one's compter.  It only removes it from the list of installed software.  You can reinstall it ONLY from the Microsoft Store and only takes about 20 minutes which only restores  MSFS to the software menu.  I originally installed MSFAS from 10 dvd discs which took at least 10 hours.  I want to  remove MSFS completely from my PC and reinstall it from scratch....

  5. Ok, deleting the "part" files from he OneStore folder didn't fix the problem. Neither did logging off my Microsoft Store account, restarting my PC and logging back on to my Microsoft store account fix the problem.  I don't know how to log off my X-Box account (I didn't know I had an X-Box account, I don't recall setting one up when I installed MSFS 2020 (from dvd discs)...

It's looking like I'm going to have to uninstall MSFS and reinstalling it.  However, if I do so will my community folder get fdeleted (will I have to reinstall all my addons)? Any other ideas before I resort to this?

  6. Well, it's not a problem of having too many folders.  I've not used MSFS 2020 much so I don't have a lot of third party addons installed.

It's been quite some time since I last accessed my Community folder.  I'll have to do some searching to find it again.

If all else fails, I'll follow Kt069';s suggestion.

Of course one sure solution is to uninstall MSFS 2020 BUT that would be the last resort given how long it takes to install the premium edition!

  7. When I ran MSFS 2020 last night I attempted to install an update but it got interrupted.  When I attempt to restart MSFS it is stuck in "checking for updates".  How do I fix this?  I tried googling "MSFS 2020 stuck in "checking for updates".  One solution starts with "Open your Microsoft Flight Siimulator folder.  Only problem is I can't find it! Whee he heck it is?  IN any case I need help to fix this problem!

  8. Just tried to load MSFA 2020 after installing a couple of UK2000 scenery.  Last week I had trouble with a Windows 10 update.  I almost had to do a PC Reset to get my desktop running again.  Managed to get it running with a restore point recovery.  I tested MSFS 2020 and it loaded without any problem.  But I just tried to run it  and got the message "Something went wrong launching your game" and gave the error code  (0x80070002).

How do I get MSFS 2020 running again?

  9.

Thanks, Elder!  How did you ID your CRJ700s:?  I can see, for example two planes at KONT that are missing textures.  One appears to be a small jet like a CRJ the other is a Large commercial jet but I can't tell what it is.  Also, 3 or 4 commerical jets at EGJJ are missing textures, but again, I can't tell what type they are...

  10. I've noticed a few days ago that when I setup an aircraft at a commercial airport at least 3 or 3 aircraft UT populates the airport with are lacking their textures.  I thought this had been caused when I added some new aircraft to FSX so I uninstalled UT Live and re-installed it.  Unfortunately this didn't fix the problem.  Aircraft with missing textures are still appearing.  Kind of kills the "real as it gets" feel!  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Any idea as to how to fix it?

I posted this problem on the UT Live support forum a couple of days ago but have yet to get a response....

  11. I have a problem with the 2D panel for the QW Ultimate 146.  In the latest version the RJ 70/85 and BAe146-300 use a that has two small MFDs on the left side of the panel and a large MFD in the center.  When I load, for example, a BAe146-300 I get a message in both of the small MFD: "ERR_Startup Error Unable to start QW146-1": The middle MFD has several randomly arranged yellow dots?.

The question is, is the panel corrupted or do I have to power up the panel (and if so, how do I do that)?  Any help would be appropriated (I post a message on the QW Ulitmate 146 forum a couple of days ago but have yet to get a response)!

  12. I discovered a weird problem with the Meigs Airport in the FSX default scenery a couple of days ago (while trying to insall a freeware version of Meigs).   I was going to add some screenshots showing the problem but I can see anyway of doing that.  The problem is that a huge multi story building is straddling the runway and there are trees and bushes sprouting up all over the tarmac and runway.  What the heck is going on here, and more importantly how to I remove the building, trees and bushes?

  13. I put FSAUDIO.DLL in my Windows 10 windows\sysem32 folder just as I had in my Windows XP windows/system32 folderso the Tinmouse 737-200 would run in FSX.  When I load a Tinmouse 737-20 in FSX on my Windows 10 system I get a ,message saying that FSAUDIO.DLL failed to load with error 0x7e and said to put FSAUDIO.DLL in the windows/system32 folder and to restart the appp,  But, as I said, I had done that already..  Has anyone else had this problem?  Actually, the Tinmouse 737-200 appears to load and run ok (so far as I can tell with it sitting at a gate).   How do I  fix the problem (or do I even need to)?

  14. I've tried multiple time to install 737 PIC in FSX on a Windows 10 system.  The installer starts up, asks what language to use then starts preparing the InstallWizard then disappears and stops dead in it's tracks.  I've tried installing it as administrator and with WinXP, WinVista and Win7 compatibility.  Nothing works.  Any help would be appreciated!
