  1. I purchased Just Flights Tommy when it first came out, and found it to be ok. The real Tommy is alot less stable than in the sim, but Rob Young (I'm pretty sure he's done the air file) has done a good job of it. It flies right on the numbers - maybe alittle too well :( .Instruments are FS9 default, textures are not all that great, and I believe you can only install it 3 times, then you have to pay a fee of some sort.I believe I have only 1 installation left lolI have around 17hrs in the Tomahawk, and completed all my basic training in it before moving onto the Warrior/Archer. Having recently flown a Cessna 152 - I can honestly tell you (many will disagree) that the 152 is a joy to fly, but the Tommy will make a better pilot out of you! It's a great little plane!!Good luck with your flight next week!! Have a great Day/Night where ever you are! :-wave http://www.3dflite.com/dac/img/BANNER1.gif Student Pilot - YSBKC152/Tomahawk/Warrior/Archer/Duchess66.3 hrs Total
  2. Carenado had one. Don't remember the link. It was an old version, I think FS2000/02 ?? so a lot of its animations don't work. Have a great Day/Night where ever you are! :-wave http://www.3dflite.com/dac/img/BANNER1.gif Student Pilot - YSBKC152/Tomahawk/Warrior/Archer/Duchess66.3 hrs Total
  3. My way of getting around the black box is to select my aircraft in window mode then once selected, get back into full screen mode.Otherwise I reduce AA to x2Q, select my bird, then change back to max AA.Its a pain! but what can you do..... 4. At the moment End of Daylight is around 17:22 local. By that time it's quite dark, and if it's overcast, 17:00 feels like End of Daylight! But I think 15:30 is definitely too early! 5. I've installed VOZ1.2 today and WOW!! Thanks again!!Some one e-mailed me last week asking some questions regarding Bankstown airport. I've lost that e-mail and your e-mail address. Sorry!! If you wish, e-mail me again and I will get back to you ASAP!! 6. Today I installed a set of 1GB Kingston DDR400 and everything is working just fine! Thank you all for your help! One more thing...For all those out there using a Gigabyte 7600GT that are having problems using dual monitors :Gigabyte released a new BIOS that corrects this problem, and it works great! You can get the new BIOS here : http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/VGA/BIO...GV-NX76T256D-RHLook for version F12 Have a great Day/Night where ever you are! :-wave http://www.3dflite.com/dac/img/BANNER1.gif Student Pilot - YSBKC152/Tomahawk/Warrior/Archer/Duchess66.3 hrs Total
  7. Windows is freezing up aswell. I had a read of the manual and the mem config I have is OK but by the looks of it doesn't support my RAM. So I will be getting 2g's worth of Kingstons next week and will report back again then. Thanks for all the help guys! 8. Hey Koorby,I have to tell you that the previous version has made a huge diference to my sim experience, and I can't wait to get 1.2 up and running!!I use the sim quite alot to practice my nav skills. I can't wait to test it out tonight when I head out to Mudgee.A big big THANK YOU to you and the team!! Have a great Day/Night where ever you are! :-wave http://www.3dflite.com/dac/img/BANNER1.gif Student Pilot - YSBKC152/Tomahawk/Warrior/Archer/Duchess66.3 hrs Total
  9. Don't quote me on this, but QANTAS requires landings to be hand-flown, except on a few occasions for pilot currency, and equiptment test. I think I would prefer (as a passenger) that airlines make their pilots hand-fly rather than automate the whole flight. It would keep their skill levels up!As a general pilot I'd prefer to hand-fly the approach - as a working pilot i'd prefer an automated approach. :-lol Go figure! Repaint Help

Hi Joe,I use MW Graphics DXTBmp along with Photoshop for all my editing, and save them as Extended Bitmaps - either DXT3 or Extended 32 bit.Just to save you alot of headaches - if you haven't already, check your Aircraft.cfg file and make sure its referencing the correct texture folder. It's happened to me before, and had i checked that first i would have saved myself alot of time and heartache! :-roll Have a great Day/Night where ever you are! :-wave http://www.3dflite.com/dac/img/BANNER1.gif Student Pilot - YSBKC152/Tomahawk/Warrior/Archer/Duchess62.2 hrs Total
  11. You should try and find a job here in Australia! With only Qantas and Virgin Blue flying domestic, and a handful of regional airlines, it's almost impossible! My only chance of building up my flying hours past the minimum requirement of 150hrs for a CPL, is to get a C210 endorsement and get a job dropping sky divers up at the top end of Queensland, or move out to Western Australia, or Northern Territory and work for mining and oiling companies! Only problem for me is that for the next two years I need to be in Victoria finishing my degree!I have heard and read several times that there will be a huge demand for new pilots in Australia in the next 5 years due to a large number of pilots retiring and, the lack of local (Australian) students. This should be great news to me. But how will I survive the next five years? The only thing I can come up with is not to worry about the future of my aviation career. I fly because I love it, and not because I want to have a huge paycheck. Today, wanting to be a pilot is like wanting to be a Hollywood movie star. If you love what you do you will keep at it regardless of what it costs you. If you don't, you should consider taking on another career.Anyways...It's not all as bad as it seems in aviation. Take India for instance. Jet Airways, Air Sahara, GO, King Fisher, they are all taking Indian pilots with only CPL, 200hrs, 25 twin time (15 in plane, 10 in sims), and a type rating (ATR, A320, B737). Most of these guys (if not all of them) fly all of their 200hrs in C152's!!!! Its crazy!! And for ex-pats, they want CPL with 500hrs and must be twin endorsed.India is definitely in my plans... Have a great Day/Night where ever you are! :-wave http://www.3dflite.com/dac/img/BANNER1.gif Student Pilot - YSBKC152/Tomahawk/Warrior/Archer/Duchess62.2 hrs Total
  12. I've removed all drvers using drivercleaner as per instructions, and re-installed them, but the problem is still there.I have also disabled the SBLive! from the BIOS, tried several other display settings combinations in and out of FS9, deleted the fs9.cfg file several times, but still nothing.I've also just noticed that NView is not allowing me to use dual monitors. Its recognising both my monitors but only allowing me to switch between them but not use both at the same time! weird... :-newburnWith Transform And Lighting ON, the comp. crashes immediately during the day time and requires a reboot. During all other times (Dawn, Dusk and Night) it will continue running with stutters for no more than a minute then crash, and requiring a reboot. As I type I am downloading the latest NVidia Beta drivers; fingers crossed, it may work. The motherboard drivers seem to be the latest. If anyone out there has a Gigabyte 7600GT PCI-e (the pipe cooling version) and isn't hving any problems i'd luv to know your settings! All help is greatly appreciated! 13. I knew i forgot something... sorry! The computer freezes and i can hear a really loud noise coming from the speakers (like static noise). Ctrl Alt Del does not work and required a push of the reset button... also i forgot to mention the motherboard comes with on board Sound Blaster ( Live! 24-bit). 14. G'Day!I have just installed a new m/b (MSI K8N Diamond) and a new GPU (Gigabyte 7600GT 256mb PCI-e), and for some reason I can't fly during the day!!I have been playing around with the display settings in FS9 and in the Display Settings panel for the video card, but no luck. What I have found is that by switching off AA, Render to Texture and transform and lighting in FS9, and leaving all my card settings to default, I can fly during the day (but as you can imagine it doesn't look all that good). The moment I switch on Render to Texture OR add some AA, I can no longer fly by Day.The strangest part is that leaving everything switched on and AA maxed out, I can fly during Dawn, Dusk or Night....Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!System specs : Motherboard: MSI K8N Diamond CPU: AMD64 3200+ RAM: Generic 1536mb (2x 512mb, 2x 256mb) HDD: WD 80gb ATA, WD 250gb SATA GPU: Gigabyte 7600GT 256mb PCI-eDirectX 9.0c - Office XP Pro - Fresh installation of FS9 Have a great Day/Night where ever you are! :-wave http://www.3dflite.com/dac/img/BANNER1.gif Student Pilot - YSBKC152/Tomahawk/Warrior/Archer/Duchess62.2 hrs Total
  15. Nice Spiral dive (-: "I have run through all the possible causes for my problems, including wind, fuel, turbulence, rudder, auopilot and joystick, and I even re-installed my fs2004 copy to a different harddrive, and removed the original, still to have the same problem."Maybe you have already tried this, but just incase you haven't, try adjusting the torque effect slider. 16. Excellent, excellent!!!Great aircraft, great answer, thank you!Rafal, good luck on your project, either one (707, 741) is great! I love those old analogue panels, really keeps you busy! Have you given any thought about the instruments?? Will you be going real analogue instruments, or using CRT/LCD screens to show them on?? 17. I agree with Lou. When I begun my flight training last year I was determined to do a "Professional Pilot degree". But after talking to several (current/retired) airline pilots, I was convinced on taking a degree not aviation related. Their advice was pretty much what Lou says above. Airlines don't care if you know about the history of aviation, all they care about is your ability to fly, your experience and your attitude. The advantage of having a non-aviation degree is that if you don't get into an airline, or for some reason you lose your airline spot you still have something to fall back on.Next year I begin a double degree in computer science and aviation. The aviation side of it is strictly PPL/CPL/ATPL subjects only, nothing on history or anything non-essential like that. Even so, I am trying like crazy to finish my CPL subjects and exams before the end of the year (I take my PPL exam this weekend or Tuesday the latest... fingers crossed :D ) so that I can concentrate on my ATPL at Uni.I think I
  18. G'Day!Here is a video of my first solo nav...http://3dflite.com/dac/vid/FLYINGTHEWARRIOR.wmv Keep an eye on the weather as it deteriorates the closer I get to my destination. I eventually had to divert when I reached Aeropelican and cut straight thru to Cessnock to the west. This video was taken last year during my early training...http://3dflite.com/dac/vid/FLYINGTHETOMAHAWK.wmv There more videos coming soon of a flight in the Duchess shown in this photo, and also some circuits at Bankstown in an Archer.http://3dflite.com/dac/P1010009.jpgThanks for watching, Have a great Day/Night where ever you are :D
  19. Just one thing to remember, when reducing power its Power (Throttle), Pitch, Mixture, and when increasing power its Mixture, Pitch, Power.I just recently completed my twin endorsement on a Duchess; a typical circuit for it goes like this....Line Up T/O - Mixture - Pitch - Power fully forwardPositive rate of climb - Gear Up, Flaps Up, 25" MP (power/throttle), 2500RPM (pitch) maintain blue line (85kts)300 feet AGL - left fuel pump OFF - check fuel pressure, right fuel pump OFF - check fuel pressure500 feet AGL - turn crosswind1000 feet AGL - turn downwind (usually we make an almost continuous turn from upwind to downwind or begin turn at 800 feet AGL) set power 20" and 2300RPM (will give you around 120kts) and make downwind callEstablished downwind

Hi Rayek,Have you considered Australia?I am currently flying out of Bankstown (YSBK) in NSW. Here you can enjoy some great weather and cheap flying. Bankstown is also a relatively large airport for GA, so you hardly ever have to wait behind traffic.
  21. Good stuff!! Is there any way we can see a screenshot ?? :9:-wavehttp://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gif http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gifDiego CoslovichWebsite: http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/index.htm (under construction)E-mail: elche@ihug.com.au
  22. Jorge,Is that GMAX or an FSDS model ?If GMAX then i would use poly select, UVW Map and Unwrap UVW modifiers for texturing. "i have run into problem when i apply junt one texture to the fuselage it is harder to align the texture"What kind of problems ? and could you please explain by "it is harder to align the texture" ? Do you find it harder for painting or texturing ?? :-hmmm I have kept my fuselage in 1 piece and divided it into 6 sections for texturing using the modifiers i mentioned above (front left, front right, middle left, middle right, rear left and rear right) without any problems.I hope I can help because that is 1 mighty fine model you have there!!! and i would love to see her up in the virtual skies!!:-wavehttp://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gif http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gifDiego CoslovichWebsite: http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/index.htm (under construction)E-mail: elche@ihug.com.au
  23. Hi Jorge,Is the first division perfect from every angle ??Heres what i mean...I've cut out a door out of my fuselage and depending on what angle you view it from the edges can/can not be seen...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/85232.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/85235.jpgCan i ask why you've decided to cut the fuselage into three parts ??That Lear is looking awesome!!! :)http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gif http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gifDiego CoslovichWebsite: http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/index.htm (under construction)E-mail: elche@ihug.com.au
  24. If thats the case it's fooled me too because the right gear seems to be compressed more than the left.... go figure :-hmmmhttp://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gif http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gifDiego CoslovichWebsite: http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/index.htm (under construction)E-mail: elche@ihug.com.au
  25. Hey Brad,Your contact points look ok to me so i'm think your key-frame animation might be wrong ?I've used different retraction/extension times for each Main gear before and never had any problems, but i did get better results by placing the retraction/extension delays into the animation itself. Also, an article that i found and still find useful, is Contact Points 101 for Compleat Idiots at The Sim-Outhousehttp://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?loc=articles&page=cphope it helps, if not... oh well i tried :-violin :-wave http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gif http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/Genera...a_fl_md_wht.gifDiego CoslovichWebsite: http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~elche/index.htm (under construction)E-mail: elche@ihug.com.au
