  1. How about a coal sacker, a coke stoker, or a sock tucker? Any of those still around? EDIT: I was curious enough to do a "google dive" and enjoyed a few minutes listening to the "sagarrmaker's bottom knocker" song (and also just what it meant! 🤪
  2. Astonishing enough, there are credible reports of dictionaries being banned in some school libraries! How are the kids supposed to look up the spelling and/or meaning of some unfamiliar word? <sheesh!> 😮
  3. That was fascinating! I am surprised as well that this close of a look was allowed. Obviously, the "bomb run" was redacted.
  4. This is now my second winter here in Hot Springs, AR and I find it ironic that it is currently as cold as NW Indiana from which I fled seeking among other things a warmer winter! The little pond in my front yard is frozen over and covered with about 4 inches of snow. My cottage has two reverse-cycle window units that are just barely keeping me warm.
  5. I posit that these aircraft were finished on a Friday afternoon, similar to how defective automobiles fail!
  6. "Frantic," don't forget frantic! 😋

    Boyhood Stories

Thanks, Noel for sharing this short story. It's one that I believe hasn't been posted before! 🤔
  8. Small inputs for smoothest performance. I've never made such sudden, violent, and totally useless movements! 😆
  9. Fantastic, Noel. Happy 90th birthday my dear friend. I turn 75 on January 21st. I celebrated both Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve at the Grand Ave. United Methodist Church, who offer free dinner after a short prayer service. The food was fabulous! The Area Agency on Aging arranged for some Christmas gifts of some much needed clothing for me this year. The new tires on my ancient Camry will probably outlive me... 😄
  10. Putting the tree in a dog cage is brilliant!
  11. Better still, red-hot chili peppers! I could never have a cat. They are simply too destructive!
  12. I hope that I never tire of watching these flights! How exciting it all is. 😉

    Hallelujah

I remember the original from 2008. It was a total hoot! 😇

    I’ll be Back!

Ah, I see said the blind man. Carry on then!
  15. I can't imagine Elon being anything other than a weirder incarnation of the mischievous "Q..."

    I’ll be Back!

Since it appears to not be discussing a "real aircraft" where else, but Hangar Chat would it be in a "right" forum?

    I’ll be Back!

I'm not entirely sure that it is "click bait." Mentour has a similar story on his channel:
  18. Odd how the fighter pilots are "flying" as though they are in atmosphere rather than in empty space. Also odd that the wingman makes a gratuitous barrel roll just as the re-tasking is initiated. 🤔
  19. What a coincidence, as I was fourteen and sitting in my 10th grade Trigonometry class when the announcement came in. Being at that time a Cadet at Kentucky Military Institute, all classes for the remainder of the day were canceled, we hurriedly got into our formal dress uniforms, drew our rifles from the armory, and... ...held a memorial parade. It was a very solemn parade and ended with our bugler playing taps while all campus flags were lowered to half-staff. Afterwards we went into the Chapel for a memorial service. Such was typical for such a tragedy. To this very day, I believe that this was intended to be the Commandant's way of keeping us busy during the aftermath of this horrible event and allow us time to de-compress.
  20. Noel, I'm delighted to learn that you are having so much fun. I hope you never get tired of sim flying!! 😉

    Nuts.

You've reminded me of a song... "Nuts, hot nuts. You get them from the peanut man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, nuts, hot nuts. You get them anywhere you can! See that man over by the wall, he ain't got no nuts all! I'll grab me coat on the way out the door... 🤪
  22. The woman was standing in the golf cart taking pictures of the aircraft. No mention was made about a golf course.
  23. As I recall, I first remember reading A.E. van Vogt's novel "Empire of the Atom" around 1960. His book was released in 1956. Another to mention the concept of the Orion Engine were Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven in their novel "Footfall." Robert Heinlein however was among my favorite sci-fi authors and I was particularly influenced by his short story "Blowups Happen!"
  24. I suspect the woman's insurance adjuster will say "Whaaaat? You were hit by a plane???" 🤑
