  1. I'm currently running 4.1 with no complaints (aside from ESENT, but that's another story). I use Rift some of the time for takeoff/landing. Addons are primarily comprised of v4 compatible items such as FTX, a few ORBX airports, FlyTampa, and ASky. I have UTII installed and working also. My general question is with regard to users' experience in migrating to v4.2, updating the client and/or content, or going for a full purge and reinstall of P3d and all add-ons (I have quite a few but not yet so many that I would rule out reinstalling them to be a ground-up "clean" state). Are some of the bugs of which I've read impacted by update vs full reinstall, etc? Better to hold off in others' opinion or go for it....? Thanks!
  2. Yesterday I suddenly began getting crashes out of P3d4.1. In my case flying the P777 out of OTBD. No add-on scenery in the area, no add-ons active besides UTII. It consistently occurs just about 5 minutes into flight/just after takeoff. I've noticed that EVERY time P3d stops responding in the event viewer I'm seeing ESENT errors: "The beta feature EseDiskFlushConsistency is enabled in ESENT due to the beta site mode settings 0x800000" It may be coincidental, but seems odd that the pattern appears to be an ESENT event (two) at the same instant that P3d hangs, and one immediately after the apphang even. All four occur in the same second. Very frustrating as I'm not certain if a windows update caused this but it seems to have begun all at once.
  3. Lol, agree. Obviously Techno's prices haven't hurt their sales overseas, and the Simmarket price is actually less than the Amazon.jp cost when converted. I really don't understand the furor over costs. As has been said, if it's too costly there's no requirement to buy. I do a TON of flying out of Tokyo and so already purchased some time ago with no regrets. Yes it was slightly more than my FlyTampa airports and isn't up to their standards, but to compare it to stock scenery is rather silly. Ironic IMO that there's so much anger at a 50.00 scenery addon to our 200.00 video game in which many of us fly 100.00+ addon aircraft
  4. Did the trick- thanks for the advice!
  5. Hi, thanks for the reply (work got in the way). I just noticed that I have the -400D in my simobjects folder but B747-400D_GE.air is missing (probably explains the missing -D). Ops center has updated my installation a few times, but is there a quick way to restore this missing file? Thank you!
  6. Hello all, I suspect this is another case of user error but I can't seem to find any references to the -400D in ops center or the livery downloader. Is this simply because none have been created or did I miss something right in front of me?
  7. HI Keith, Just trying to clarify vs v3 CLS ports, did you purchase the v4 version directly from Just Flight and you have all cockpit sounds? Thank you!
  8. To follow up, I found from old installations that the bgl's in question are "Lamp_xx" (I think 15 total) that create the massive taxiway lighting hit. I'm not seeing a huge framerate drop when these are active, but as I noted my load times were crazy. I just deactivated those bgl's to save my load times- the runways retain their lighting but there's definitely something lost compared to the sea of taxiway lighting in the default scenery (as artificial as it may be).
  9. Hi Chris, I suspect it's the lights bgl and related light effects for the entire set of taxiway lighting- In my sim it's not visible unless I drop the view level down to zero, at which point they become visible in the distance (suggesting my airport/afcad elevation is off and slightly above). In going to test a change in the afcad I found the stock airport has 280+ aprons, meaning the latest version of ADE won't compile (254 max). I'll do some cleanup and then see if I can isolate the bgl that hosts the lights- my frame rates didn't take much hit, but my load time here at night literally went through the roof (from about 20s to almost five minutes!). Nothing's simple eh?
  10. Not at my sim pc now, but this rings a bell from my FSX days at RKSI. I remember there being a massive hit when the massive taxiway lighting bgl/texture went active. I haven't happened to be there at night in v4 yet but will take a look this evening. Related, are you seeing any terrain bleedthrough at RKSI in p3d? The airport works well for me but at one narrow spot between the terminal and runway ends I see ground textures through the pavement (I also have FTX installed)
  11. Is there any update on the DC-10 in v4? I've combed the forums but can't seem to find a definitive answer here or in JF's forum. Seems hit and miss, but I'd like to avoid a purchase/refund just to find out....?
  12. Lol, that may be even a little generous. The (admittedly small) LDS team moves at their own rate certainly. Moving house recently I came across a handout from Avsim Conf 2004 announcing their 757. 2018 now means the sim has taken notably longer than the 757 did from 727 replacement discussions to first delivery. I loved, still do, the 763 in X dated textures and all. A study-level 75/67 sim is badly needed in our hobby; too bad it'll never be targeted by the likes of PMDG (by their own statements).
  13. So an update- the client is working flawlessly with the following exception; I have had to go through and reassign all my custom repaints even though they were shown correctly prior to the 2016 schedule update. It seems that somehow that may have voided the assignments displayed by the client by breaking the database's assignments (I'm guessing). For example, I had all a320's mapped to the FAIB models and none showed. Going through, deleting the assignment and then reassigning exactly the same aircraft caused them to display correctly. (no aircraft titles or .cfg files changed). While this is less than thrilling, and worries me about losing all custom assignments again, at least I'm on the path to getting my AI visible!
  14. I also have the UT2 client working with v4, but my issue is that I only ever see one or two UT2 aircraft. Somehow it's not populating the sim with planes even though every traffic setting is at 100% and the framerate limiters are set to unlimited/off in UT2. I have hundreds of assigned repaints to the FAIB FSX native models (and some of the newest P3D models) but none appear except for the occasional plane. Anyone have any ideas?
  15. Thanks, I made the edit and it SEEMS to have a minimal effect- I was seeing one 757 at SAN; in UT2 I reassigned the 757 (stock) to one of the aircraft in my second simobjects folder. After restarting traffic the (now) 767 is visible. Unfortunately this is the ONLY aircraft visible at SAN...?????? I've check all my traffic settings are at 100% in UT2, and have no framerate target set in P3D. I'm at a loss now.
  16. Struggling with UT2 in P3Dv4 here... I have many AI planes in a folder separate from the default UT2 Aircraft simobjects subfolder. I'm at a point where I have UT2 working correctly, but none of my "nonstandard" aircraft are visible in P3D. My simobjects.cfg contains the following: [Entry.10] Path=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft Required=True Active=True I added a subsequent entry as follows: [Entry.11] Path=SimObjects\P3D Native AI Required=True Active=True No matter what I'm not seeing the many aircraft that should be in-sim from this folder. I suspect I missed something rudimentary, but can't find anything. Also, my P3D config file includes an additional Simobjects entry under the MAIN section (I see these start at .1 instead of .0 as in fsx.cfg, is this correct?).
  17. Hi Scott, thanks- been away from my sims for a LONG time (two kids will do that!). Agree, too bad!
  18. I've been having problems accessing his repaint site, anyone else getting stuck in an redirect loop when visiting?
  19. More often than not the carriers are highly sensitive to having any aircraft bearing their logo/name while on the ground, in repair following an incident. Frequently logos are painted over or otherwise covered even while AOG teams are en route, and scrap/replacements are carefully controlled. Whether it makes a difference is debatable (and no reporter would ever be fooled), but it's been an m.o. for decades presumably to reduce the reaction by the uninformed public in the area.
  20. "along with a bunch of other prep work to ensure the engine does not rotate during the flight. The lack of lubrication under pressure would be heck on the bearings, and would obviate the whole point of hauling the engine along" I understand in layman's terms why this would be the case; the question it raised in my mind is if the same is true for an engine that is shut down in flight some hours prior to arrival (ie: the BA 744 that continued onwards from LAX on 3). Is a shut-down engine still protected by other active systems/connections while it windmills in flight, or is similar damage inflicted by said windmilling at cruise (of course in addition to whatever caused the shutdown)?
  21. "And all we had left was this one bolt...." B) Thanks for posting- these incidents so often (understandably) escape public documentation.
  22. Thanks guys, will try to catch a video of the behavior as the steps to reproduce seem to be setting up for normal flight. Will post here and to a ticket once I'm able to capture it. Now what are the odds it'll be like a noise in the car- obvious until at the service drive?
  23. I've been through many trim related discussions but have not seen a report of my current issue. Frequently the Alt Trim handle will spike to the full nose-down position. This behavior occurs either during the initial takeoff roll, or (most often) during final approach; it's frequent enough that I have one of my interior views centered on the handle so that I can anticipate and correct it before digging a hole in the runway B) I've updated via ops center, have no axis assigned to trim (via sim nor via FSUIPC, I use keyboard cmd), etc. Further, I've not even found an option to shortcut an axis or command to the Alt Trim handle. It's been relatively easy to circumvent now that I watch for it at the suspect times, just wondering if this has been seen.
  24. Beware the specs and FAQ: In response to a question about 120hz at 1080p versus hz at 4K the response was as follows: "Hi That is correct, it runs 4K off 30HZ Regards" This puts it squarely in the realm of 30hz 4K monitors that were universally panned for their jerky/blurry mouse and window performance as pc monitors. Minimum for a smooth experience at 4K on pc is 60hz, and some newer models are now bettering that by a good margin.

    777-300 Freighter?

And we saw how that played out with Fedex/UPS and the a380F....
