  1. As a case in point, I bought the MD11 FSX and FS9 bundle pack. I installed and activated both but I only use FS9 because I cannot get satisfactory framerates with FSX, but in the future I may have a computer that can run it so I bought the MD11 bundle. So indeed, statistics may not tell the whole story of the popularity between FSX and FS9.Renzo
  2. Hello,I have noticed that with the FS9 MD11, after I get the message to add drag by deploying the spoilers, almost immediately the engines start spooling up, even before the add drag message disappears. This is quite diffferent behaviour to the 747. Anyone else had this issue?ThanksRenzo
  3. Thanks for the response Bryan. With regard to the green button and PN issue, I think the confusion has arisen because of the wording of page 55 of the manual which advises user to right-click the green button until an 'F' appears in order to skip the PN function. I do have the dashed lines but thought it was an 'F' that I was looking for. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.An update that would deal with the transponder issue would be great and I take your point about the ASDE-X system. Just been reading about it on the Vatsim website.I guess I am on my own with regard to the FO arming the spoilers issue. Oh well, can't win them all.RegardsRenzo
  4. 2. With regards to question no.2, I have re-tested right-clicking the green button on the Climb and Clean-up page and you definitely get 'hdg' and not 'F'. However, this relates to FS2Crew Md11 FS9. I also bought FS2Crew MD11 FSX. On this version, the 'PN' does indeed change to an 'F' when the green button is right-clicked. So it would appear to be a FS9 FS2crew issue.YoursRenzo
  5. Thanks for the reply Bryan. Regarding your responses:1. I have asked in the Vatsim forum and it seems agreed that Vatsim controllers like the squawk mode to remain in standby until taxiing towards the runway for takeoff. This is no small matter as many of us fly online under Vatsim rules. I know that after the FO has switched the squawk mode to C, you can turn it back to standby, but that rather undermines the purpose of having a FO to assist. Not only must I remember to turn the transponder back to standby but then I then have to remember to turn it back to C mode whilst taxiing. Maybe some other Vatsim flyers can chip in with their thoughts. In otherwords, I now have more work to do then if I hadn't installed FS2Crew in the first place! I am not knocking your excellent program, it's just that the FO switching on the transponder before take-off and off again when leaving the runway was one of the best features of FS2Crew as it was something I didn't have to worry about whilst trying to taxi the aircraft. If you would consider an option to change this with any future update, I would appreciate it.2. I will recheck the problem with the PN button tonight to ensure I am following your instructions correctly.3. With regard to arming the speedbrake, this function is normally the Captains's responsibility and so for realism (as well as the problem with my hardware), I would prefer a verbal reminder from the FO rather than him taking the function over. These issues aside, another excellent product. All the best.Renzo
  6. Hello,I have just bought Fs2crew for the FS9 MD11 and have three querstions:1. The FO seems to turn on the transponder 18 mins before engine start whilst at the gate. With FS2crew for 747, FO would put transponder into Charlie mode whilst taxiing for take off. When you fly with Vatsim, they seem to prefer that your transponder remains in standy mode whilst at the gate. If there a reason why the FO does this so early and anyway to change this?2. The manual states that if you want to arm Nav and Prof on the ground rather than FO do it after take off, cycle to 'climb and clean up' and right click green PN button until it says 'F' for flaps. However, when I do this, right clicking cycles the green button between 'pn' and 'hdg'. 3. Finally, the FO arms the spoilers if you forget to do so, which is a nice feature. However, this causes problems with my Saitek axis assigned for spoilers, so I would prefer he didn't. Guess there is no work around for this and I must just remember to do it myself before he does, but no harm in asking.Nice program and sorry for daft questions.Renzo
  7. 1. Is there a click spot in the 2D cockpit for the GA function (as with the 747)? I have allocated a key in any event but was just interested to know.2. When I activated a go around on a missed approach into EDDF, the autopilot automatically changed to heading select. In due course I changed back to nav mode, expecting the autopilot to follow missed appoach waypoints preprogramed into the FMC. But it didn't, instead choosing to fly to waypoints found earlier in the approach. So I used the 'direct to' function to redirect the plane to the missed approach waypoints. All a bit confusing. Yes I have read the manual but that is even more confusing.3. Any chance someone could give me a dummies guide to using the MD11 FMC in a missed appaoch?ThanksRenzo
  8. If there was a problem with the Navigraph data, then I would have expected the trnasitions not to appear in the 747 FMC either, but they do. I know tha tis not conclusive evidence of anything, just a thought.Maybe I am not operating the MD11 correctly. In the 747, you select your runway in the Arrivals page for EDDF and the approriate STARS appear on the left in the FMC and the transitions appear on the right. In the MD11, you slect the runway and the STARS are on the left but it states 'no trans' below the STARS and the transitions do not appear whatever I select or don't select in terms of runways or STARS.Perhaps if someone has time, they could check out the approach page for EDDF so I can work out whether it is Navigraph, MD11 or me that is the problem.(Dan, just noticed the second part of your post. I didn't notice a second page setting out the transitions after selecting a STAR for EDDF. I will check it out this evening. Thanks for your input.)ThanksRenzo
  9. Hello,I have installed the latest AIRAC cycle from Navigraph and it seems I have no transitions available on the MD11 FS9 FMC on arrival at Frankfurt. Just to test that the AIRAC is ok, I checked with the PMDG 747 FMC and the transitions appear as usual. On the FMC, my last waypoint is Osmax and after selecting for an ILS25R approach, I would expect to see an Osmax STAR and an Osmax Transition available but the FMC just says 'no trans'.I expect I am doing something wrong.Any advice?ThanksRenzo
  10. Hi,Just successfully installed MD11 for FS9. When I load up the plane, can see cockpit fine until Fixes/routes box finishes loading and then screen goes lack and FS9 restarts itself. No problems with MD11 for FSX nor any problems with any other PMDG product on FS9.I do not have a 'no cd crack'.Any advice would be appreciated.Renzo2.7 processor4gb Ram8800 Nvidea graphics card
  11. HiNo solution that works for me. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Problem only in the air and did start after I installed FS2Crew but there is no logical reason why this addon should affect the spoilers, apparently.RegardsRenzo
  12. Thanks for input. I think I understand the rationale now.Renzo
  13. Thanks Harry for sorting that out. That was indeed the issue. I do use dual monitors though so that is why I had ticked the multi-monitor option. Is there something I am missing here? Is this a bug or should I be doing something different with opening and closing the SD DU when using dual monitors?RegardsRenzo
  14. Thank you Bill. However, when I click on the 'SD' clickspot, only the SDCP and whatever corresponding control panel from the overhead panel disappears. The SD DU remains and cannot be closed by clicking the SD clickspot.I guess I am only left with the option of a re-installation.Renzo (aka Pod)
  15. Just a small panel problem. When I click on 'SD' I get the two windows opening, which I think are the SD and CP (I could be wrong). But when I click on 'SD' again, only one panel closes and the other remains open. It is the SD panel that remains open (ie, the display panel) and the only way to close it is to right click on the edge of it and choose the close open. Shouldn't both panels open and close together when using the 'SD' clickspot?ThxPod
  16. Well, having bought everything that PMDG has ever released, having also paid over 250 Euros for the MD11(FS2004 and FSX edition) and printed manuals, I feel entitled to express my opinion.I wasn't going to say anything because the MD11 has been so universally applauded but I find the 2D panels of the plane a complete disappointment. I am not talking about the functionality of the plane which is, no doubt, second to none.It is a cartoon plane and I think visuals are very important part of the immersion. It looks less like a real cockpit then the PMDG 737, which was released over 8 years ago (I think)and on an old platform.Visually, look at Digital Aviations's Piper Cheyenne's overhead or Ayres Cockpits for Falcon 4 to see how realistic panels can look.Visually, it also a complete backward step from the PMDG 747, whether FS2004 or FSX.But that is the end of my rant. PMDG is an excellent company and I have no other complaints. But I hope the 737 NGX will be different as this is my most early anticipated plane.Cheers all.Pod.
  17. Hello,I purchased and installed MD11 and FS2Crew for FSX as a package and it has installed correctly. However, straight after installtion, my Saitek Joystick is nolonger detected by FSX. Well, the hat switch works but the buttons don't. The buttons configure ok in game controllers, but are not detected by FSX.I know this sounds weird, but the buttons also now do not work in FS2004 and nothing was installed into this game.I should say that I have been using this joystick without issue for over a year.Ok, so this maybe not be strictly a PMDG issue, may be Saitek, may be FSUIPC, but with your vast knowledge and expertise, I hope some of you may be able to make some suggestions.I have tried:1. re-installing Saitek software2. sytems restore on the computerI run windows Vista 32.ThanksPod.
  18. Bought FS2crew for MD11 FSX as a package and it has installed fine but Start Centre (sept 08) doesn't detect MD11 and neither does start centre (may 08).Any advicePod
  19. Thanks for the advice. I think I am going to get the HP w2207h - Flat panel display - TFT - 22". I like the adjustable height. The resolution is exactly as you say, hopefully this is enough to look good with the new MD11.CheersPod
  20. Just to clarify, I want to know what the minimum resolution I should buy to get acceptable results with the MD11 in FSX or FS9?Anyone?Pod.
  21. I am about to invest in a new monitor in anticiaption of the new MD11 and I could do with some advice.I would like to get a 22" monitor but what resolution and refresh rates should I be looking for? Anything else I should think about? Thanks.Pod
  22. I haven't tried using the spoilers in the virtual cockpit but I will try.I will also check out my throttle calibration and report back. Thanks for the advice.RegardsRenzo
  23. I know this is a long shot because noone else seems to have experienced problems with the spoilers on the 747 for FS9, but I have just started to periodically lose control of the spoilers during flight. I can extend them but not retract them, either with keystrokes or the mouse or my saitek yoke configured with FSUIPC.I can solve the problem by saving the flight and then reloading it, which is strange. The problem first appeared after installing FS2Crew but I am assured this program has no control over spoilers.I have done all the normal things, checked for conflicts etc, tried not activating FS2crew, but to no avail. The spoliers work fine on the ground, but after a while in the air, they stop responding.Any advice would be gratefully received.Renzo
  24. Thanks Bryan. As your keystrokes and those of CPflight are hardcoded, I am never going to fully solve the problems of running both pieces of software together, but I would like to see what compromises I can make.I have decided not to use the FSCrew keyboard assignments as a whole, beacuse they would render my MCP unusable, so I have just manually added the assignment for the 'decrease autobrake' and the doors. Obviously, I will miss out on some features but I am still don't understand why I lose control of the speedbrake during the flight. This is only an issue when I use FS2Crew. Does your program exercise no control over the speedbrake at all?Anyway, thanks for your input and hopefully, when I get around to using FSX, I may not have some of these issues.CheersRenzo
  25. Hello,I have owned RS2crew of PMDG747 for a while but stopped using it because of keyboard conflicts with my CPFlight MCP.However, I thought I would give it another go and all seems to be fine so far, execpt in realtion to:1. Speedbrakes - if I extend them during flight, I lose further control of them and therefore cannot stow them again.2. If my FO helps during engine start, he pulls all of the starts, even thought I tolf him to just start 3 and 4 and then he switches all the fuel levers to cut-off after the engines have all been running for a while.I am sure these are keystrokes errors. Just one last question, in the start center, if the 'restore PMDG key assignments' appears in red, does that mean that FS2crew key assignments are operative, or not as the case may be.Many thanksRenzo
