  1. David, that is very kind, thank you. We appreciate your support very much! Cristian, Please use a callsign of your choice. However, it would be great if you added "Tony Radmilovich Support Flight" to your flight plan comments The way it works is that prizes will be allocated at random to both donators and flyers. Obviously if you both fly and donate, you have a chance of winning a prize in either category. I should point out that the major prizes are being reserved for donators, for obvious reasons, including that PMDG 777!!
  2. guys, just a reminder that the event starts tonight at midnight UK time (7pm US Eastern time - tonight Friday 18th)
  3. thank you to everyone for what you are doing. It is really appreciated. I will keep everyone informed of news on how Tony is progressing after his latest surgery. I will also keep you all updated of how the fundraising and event is progressing. thank you all Jane
  4. that is correct, thanks for that Chris! guys, for those of you who haven't seen it in the prize thread. PMDG are offering a free copy of their 777 as part of the prizes! Not only that, but hinted at an early copy for the lucky winner! (picked at randon from the donators), so a lucky winner is going to get very special access to this stellar release! Those of you who are donating, please PM me or email me at janerachel1 (AT) hotmail.com with your contact details and donation confirmation and we can put you in the prize draw for lots of prizes! Thank you everyone for all that you are doing. You are really making a difference! Jane
  5. Rob wears his wig every weekend. Have you not seen the family photos? so you should be fine Tom
  6. guys, those of you donating please put your email address into the comments as you make the donation, so we can contact you if you win a prize. If you have already donated or forget, please PM me with your email so we can add you to the prize draw bucket. If you are uncomfortable with sharing your email details publicly or have an issue, please send me an email at janerachel1 (AT) hotmail.com with your contact details and confirmation of donation. We want to keep track of all of you, Please note this is a temporary hotmail I have just set up for this purpose. Please note than number 1, after the janerachel in the email address. thank you Jane
  7. guys, here is a list of the prizes. I did it in a separate thread to offer proper thanks to all the donators! http://forum.avsim.net/topic/397124-win-pmdg-777-just-flight-flight-1-orbx-carenado-products/
  8. Guys, I just wanted to point out the prizes on offer for the Tony Radmilovich special flight on AVSIM. For those of you interested in the Boeing 777 from PMDG (and who isn't interested!), Robert Randazzo has announced that one will be given away during the course of this weekends Tony Radmilovich Special Flight on VATSIM and even hinting that the lucky winner (who donates to the cause) may also get an early copy before everyone else. For added good measure, Robert is also offering prizes of the full PMDG 737NGX package to four lucky winners. (yes this includes the 600/700 expansion pack). You can also hear Robert online discussing the 777 and new releases during the event. Here is a link to the announcement from Robert at PMDG http://forum.avsim.net/topic/397115-this-is-important-and-we-could-use-your-help/ If that is not enough, Flight 1 are also offering the fantastic prize to 10 lucky winners of anything from their store. These prizes will be picked from the hat randomly from the list of donators over the weekend. Thank you Flight 1, it is really appreciated. Yet, this is far from the end of things. The amazing people at Just Flight are also offering donators the chance to win anything from their store too! Thank you Scott, Dermot and the Just Flight team. They have also posted a lovely intro piece on their homepage. The list goes on, ORBX are also offering the pick of any of their products to donators picked out of the hat! Thank you very much to John Venema for this! The amazing Fernando at Carenado is also offering Carenado and Alabeo products! Thank you to everyone at Carenado! David Chester over at Addictive Simulations is offering copies of his AVSIM Bravo Zulu award winning Pitts Special along with copies of his VC10 and Trident! Thanks David! This is far from the end of the list! Thanks also to AVSIM for the huge amount of help they are giving us too ! How do you win these prizes:- Donators to the Tony Radmilovich appeal will automatically have their details entered in to the hat (please leave your contact email with donations! as you donate). Anyone flying with us over the weekend on the VATSIM legs of the tour event will also be eligible for entry into a prize draw! How do you get involved: The legs and further details are here. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/396708-pc-pilot-pmdg-orbx-sponsored-special-event-18-20-jan/ If you want to know more about Tony and his situation read here:- http://forum.avsim.net/topic/387354-tony-radmilovich-an-appeal-for-help/ I hope to see many of you both donating and flying with us over the weekend. The event starts this Friday at 12midnight GMT (7 PM Fri eastern)
  9. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Robert and the entire PMDG team for their amazing support and generosity for this forthcoming event. It means such a lot to us at PC Pilot. Tony is overwhelmed by the level of support he has received. (he is currently in hospital recovering from a further urgent surgery on his spine that took place earlier this week but we are keeping him in the loop) As Robert mentioned, the event is on VATSIM, all are welcome. The actual flights and timetable can be found here. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/396708-pc-pilot-pmdg-orbx-sponsored-special-event-18-20-jan/ Again, my sincerest thanks to Robert and the PMDG team. It means an awful lot to Tony and the PC Pilot team. Thank you! Jane Whittaker
  10. I would also like to thank Carenado for joining our list of official sponsors and prize donations. Thank you Fernando, it is very much appreciated!
  11. hey Ryan, Friday 18th all the best Jane
  12. Hey John, yep they are all large airports. They were deliberately chosen as such so people can fly whatever they want from a 747 to a Cessna. The PC Pilot team will be making heavy use of the PMDG NGX.
  13. sure, go ahead and let us know here so we can gauge numbers. Thanks for joining us, I appreciate it! I will be flying the P51 civilian at some point over the weekend too!
  14. As promised here is the flight plan. If any of you or your organisation would like to fly a leg please let us know and we can update who is flying and when. It is fine for more than one person or group to fly the same leg. We just want to get a grip on numbers. The first flight gets away on Friday night UK time 23.59, 18.59 US Eastern TIme. 15. I can now also, with great thanks, confirm the participation of Flight 1, who are also offering generous prizes for the weekend. Ten donators picked at random, by an independent third party, will be rewarded with the choice of ANY product of their choice from the Flight 1 store!
  16. thanks John, William, look forward to seeing you there!
  17. I am very pleased to announce that Just Flight have this morning become one of the official sponsors of this event and helping however they can, including prizes over the weekend. Thank you to everyone at Just Flight for their very kind support!
  18. Aharon, the schedules are being finalised today as it has taken some juggling around due to VA's looking to get involved with their flights, but I am nearly there. The main thread on the event is here:- http://forum.avsim.net/topic/396708-pc-pilot-pmdg-orbx-sponsored-special-event-18-20-jan/
  19. Gang, As many of you will remember the team at PC Pilot have been working towards creating a sponsored event in aid of Tony Radmilovich, to help repair his spine so he can walk again. The link to the intial thread at AVSIM is here. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/387354-tony-radmilovich-an-appeal-for-help/ I am delighted to say that in association with PC Pilot Magazine and our official sponsors PMDG, ORBX, Addictive Simulations, Buffalo Virtual Airways and United Virtual, the very kind (and appreciated!) support of the AVSIM team and many others we can now announce that a special series of flights will now be flown on VATSIM, starting 23.59GMT 18.59EST on the 18th Jan (next Friday). Pilots are invited to fly a tour of Canada and the USA on VATSIM, joining with PC Pilot writers and others from within the flight simulation hobby. The full itinerary will follow shortly over the next day or so. Not only that, the entire event will be broadcast using live streaming to Youtube and other broadcast sites who are helping us provide live cockpit video. In addition to cockpit video Peter Wright will be providing a realtime commentary and also interviewing many flight sim developers and simmers, in what we hope will prove to be an entertaining weekend. There will also be a series of competitions and prizes as part of the broadcasted events. This is destined to be one of the most exciting FS events in some time! How can you get involved? 1) Donations to Tony's appeal are more than welcome. Please see the links above and links we will be posted during the event and advertising during the live video feed commentaries. 2) Feel free to fly with us as a group flight on any of the post legs of the journey. The more people we have fly with us the better. Everyone of you is welcome to join us and have some fun for a really good cause. Competitions We will be running competitions during the live videocast, offering prizes from our sponsors, so come along and have some fun and win everything from the AVSIM Bravo Zulu 2012 awarded Addictive Pitts Special to the latest ORBX sceneries and much more! I run a VA can I get involved? Yes, VA's are invited to contribute by taking "ownership" of various legs for group flights with their pilots. For instance, Buffalo Virtual are kindly sponsoring the flights across Canada and will be flying these legs online in realtime with their pilots and aircraft. United Virtual are sponsoring some of the US city routes and will be flying those legs with their pilots too. If you are a VA and want to be involved with your members, contact us here. I am a developer / publisher can I get involved? You certainly can. You are more than welcome to get involved any way you see fit, from flying with us to competition prizes to being interviewed live during the videocast to discuss your latest products. Contact me here in the forum or via PM, or my PC Pilot email. However you can help will be incredibly appreciated. Thank you already to PMDG for their offer of being an official supporter and sponsor of this event. More sponsors and supporters are more than welcome! Can I publicise this for you? Yes please do! Wherever and however you can. A huge thanks goes out to AVSIM for their incredible support for this good cause. Thank you Tom, Robert and team! If you can publicise this anywhere, please help us out! Will you be flying Jane? Yes myself and an entire squad of PC Pilot writers will be taking to the air and we will be happy to meet you in the chatroom we are creating for the event to shoot the breeze! Of course, I got to pick the short straw with the graveyard shift over Alaska, but I will be back flying during daylight hours too (sleep who needs it!) The event will continue across the entire weekend, with each pilot handing the baton over to the next pilot at each destination in the USA and Canada. Those of you joining us freel free to fly an aircraft of your choice. The PC Pilot team will be flying the PMDG 737 NGX. Thanks again to Robert Randazzo and PMDG for their official support! Let's get together and have an awful lot of fun. More importantly, let us help Tony overcome his severe health issues by providing him with the care that he needs! Any questions, please feel free to ask! Everyone is welcome to fly and get involved. Let's make this a special weekend! The flight plan and timings will be posted here shortly, see you in the skies Jane Whittaker
  20. Hello All, I just wanted to give you all a quick update and another huge thanks for all of your efforts! The appeal for Tony is really gathering pace, but we still have a long way to go. Your kindness and generosity has been incredible, making me very proud to be part of this community. I have had contact with Tony and his wife Kim and they are overwhelmed, very emotional and incredibly grateful for the support of everyone. You are already making a huge difference, bringing some light to this dark period of their lives. There have been a fair few ideas for fundraising efforts. We will be talking to you all about a round the world flight shortly! Ideas have also been coming in from far and wide. Please feel free to send me a PM here if you wish to help in any way with some activity or have ideas to share. Thank you all for this magnificent effort, that reinforces my firm view that we have the finest community of people in the world. Thank you also to everyone at AVSIM for their continued support and generosity. You are all greatly appreciated. Jane
  21. Gang, If any of you have access to other forums (fora?) please could you repost this appeal (with moderators permission if required) - we want to spread it far and wide. We need community help on this! thanks! Jane
  22. can I also thank Tom and all the AVSIM gang for all their support, in letting us discuss this here. It means so much, thank you! We also welcome AVSIM and all other FS journalists to join us in the around the world support flight
  23. Gang, I am contacting you with some urgency with a request to publicise and help with a plea for help from Tony Radmilovich. As you may know, Tony is a key member of the flight sim community. He has written for the flight sim websites, PC Pilot, Computer Pilot and is an active member of many flight sim groups and clubs He is very very active in the community. Tony has suffered a devastating spinal injury and to make matter worse, fell from his bed during hospital treatment aggravating the injury. If that sounds dreadful, it gets worse, he is also suffering from life threatening infections. He cannot walk and is extremely ill. In addition to being a major light in our community, he cares full time for his blind wife Kim. He has run up enormous medical bills and still needing massive life changing care. Today, in desperation to continue to receive medical care and to maintain his home he has put out a request for help. I have spoken with Kim, his wife and been given permission to share his appeal with the community. Tony is in a really desperate state and needs help. His story and a request for help can be found at the link below. "Even though I have good medical coverage through my wife, the out of pocket expenses for surgeries, hospital stays and ambulance rides is in excess of $30,000 and I need ongoing therapies that are not covered in hopes of walking again. I have so many unpaid medical bills, my doctors won’t see me unless I can take care of them and with no income, it is impossible to keep up with them. The hope that we will ever have anything resembling a normal life grows dimmer and the realization that I can't earn enough money to help keep us afloat has been a staggering blow." http://www.indiegogo.com/p/119134 There are links in the story above as to how to help Tony. His friends, including myself are also planning simming events to support Tony. We will be giving more info as we formalize these events. Any, and all support from this wonderful community, in whatever way we can is really appreciated. We will also sort out a point of contact for all the efforts to assist Tony. thank you all for your time, and thank you in advance for helping Tony in whatever way you can, Jane Whittaker
  24. this appears to be an issue with the licencing disclaimer stuff. I had the same problem and sought assistance, despite having a valid login. If you open Windows Live from your windows start menu (not from in Flight), you can log in and you will likely be told that the terms of service will need updating since your last login (if you already had an account). Accept the updated licence agreement for temrs of service (for Live, not Flight) and the problem goes away, allowing you to open flight normally. If you do not accept the licence agreement update, you see the request to enter a product key from within Flight itself.. It has to be done from outside of Flight by opening Live from your programs menu directly. Flight gets itself all confused and prompts for the key!all the bestJane W (PCPilot)
  25. woah, hold your horses there, the PMDG and beta group provide an awful lot of support based on forum feedback (even if the support ticket is a more direct and preferable route for the team). What you are not seeing is the sheer volume of private interaction to forum posters with a problem that goes on behind the scenes. There are also some very diligent beta testers who read every single forum post here and raise any issues that may have been overlooked on behalf ot the poster (not me, I am afraid due to personal time constraints with other commitments). You really should not generalise when you don't see what happens every day behind the scenes. I am not criticising, just pointing out that there is a huge amount of team response to posts here.JaneRachel
