  1. GaryGB:Many thanks!!! I used Filemon and found out that EnditAll wasn't ending it all. I had a couple of applications coming on and off which was causing about 95% of my problems. Most of the hesitations are gone. Still have some when looking at downtown Seattle, New York and etc. but then the fps are real low also in those instances.Once again thanks again.Mike
  2. I have all background programs shutdown. I even use "Enditall" for that. There is zero in my icon tray. Anti aliasing is completely off. I am not using real weather. Even so I still get the hesitations.Mike
  3. Even at higher FPS 20 - 30 the sim experiences large random hesitations. When its not doing that it flys smooth. It appears that something is downloading when this happens. I've tried reducing sliders but the problem still persists. Has anyone figured out how to get rid of these without lowering the quality of the sim so much that it is not worth flying?Mike
  4. I have P4 3.2 ghz HT, 2 gb dual path RAM, 6800 GT 256 mb and FSX works pretty good for me except in places like Tokyo or New York City. I went to the screen that has the choice of program or system cache to see where to switch it. LOL....I found out that it was on system cache all ready and I didn't even know it. As far as I know I didn't conciously set it there. It's apparently been there for many months since the last time I reformated. I have never had any problems. Maybe thats why the sim is running well for me.Mike
  5. I took those shots while using the FSX real weather generator.Mike
  6. It looks like it is some kind of haze layer which does cover in some areas. Is there something causing it that can be corrected?
  7. Same here. Autopilot won't work. Can't get it to follow gps and there doesn't seem to be any vertical mode button (there is a dial but no mode button to engage). This sucks!Mike
  8. Except in the detailed cities (also detailed airports) I can run FSX now between 15 - 30 fps with fairly dense autogen and scenery complexity. My system is P4 3.2 ghz HT, 2 gb dual path RAM, 6800 GT 256 mb with a lot of the suggested tweaks implemented including reduced sized textures. But I've noticed that in detailed cities no amount of tweaks so far or adjusting sliders brings the fps higher than single digit. Tokyo is one of the worst. So there is something else, probably the detailed buildings and other objects for one thing. Is anyone working on a solution for these? Can anything be done? I don't have the knowledge to do it but maybe someone else does.Mike
  9. It is the last tweak that could help alot. Are you going to do one for the large buildings for big cities like Las Vegas? These really crush frame rates.I'm about ready to give up.Mike
  10. I've tried all of the tweaks out there (including reduced texture sizes). I have tried simple clouds. I've tried varying all of the FSX.cfg settings. I've tried with sound disabled. Nothing will get rid of the big hesitations. The sim is unflyable for me even with decent fps. I've been f*****g with this sim now since the 17th with no improvement in this regard. This is crap!!!!Back to FS9. FSX gets put away along with CFS3 as a waste of money.Mike
  11. At either fps locked at 20 or unlimited I am getting major hesitations. My framerates are anywhere from 15 to 36. There are no constant microstutters. The plane will fly smooth and then I get hit by a big hesitation. Sometimes the frame counter will go down about 10 fps or more when it happens, sometimes it doesn't. There was one instance when I was in exterior spot mode facing out from Salt City International to the great salt lake (just terrain, few trees and water and no buildings) and the fps was about 36 when I had a 2 second hesitation and the fps went down to 1.2. Afterwards it went back up to 36 fps and the plane was flying smoothly until the next one hit. This is getting really discouraging because I feel I'm getting close but still the plane is unflyable, even at high fps. Please help!P4 3.2 ghz HT, 2 gb dual path RAM, 6800 GT 256 mb, XP home.Tweaks:Fiber Frame Time Fraction is @ .33, Texture Bandwidth Mult @ 100, Autogen Den @ 1500 for trees and 1000 for buildings, Poolsize @ 1000000, 5000000 or 10000000 (hesitations on any setting), default.xml to .bakEverything else is default game.Mike
  12. Vllekm:Have you completed the autogen building textures yet. Please post these when you get them completed. Thanks!Mike
  13. Well, I just looked and the master switch was all the way to the left but the individual sliders were all the way to the right. Wierd? I adjusted all of the individual ones to the left and I will try again. Thanks for your very quick reponse.Mike
  14. Radar Contact 4 is great and I use it constantly. I have one question concerning speed of the speechI have the latest patch and I have all of the sliders set to max for speed of talking for all categories. The speed of speech for anything dealing with my flight is still much slower than the speed of speech dealing with all AI flights. Is this correct? The speed of speech for the AI flights is more like what it really is. Is there anyway to speed up the rate of speech for my flight to match that of the AI flights?Mike
  15. Great stuff guys. I will try the suggestions. Thanks once again!!!Mike
  16. Thanks for the help!! What I was doing wrong was manually trying to enter the IGS freq of 111.9 without the course setting. I have Vile's Kai Tak 98 plus the freeware which significantly increases the building autogen. Framerates are about 20 - 24 and scenery looks pretty good. I've tried Mole's freeware Kai Tak but have a slide show with that one. Just took off from Kai Tak on Rwy 13 using radio navigation and HSI steered to TD VOR @ 115.5 and climbed to 4500 ft at 240 knots. Then turned to CH VOR @ 112.3 at 4500 ft and 240 knots. After CH turned onto the 270 radial and then at 7 miles past CH with the NDB 268 pointed north I made a turn to 45 degrees while slowing down to 210 knots with some flaps. Upon capturing the localizer @ 111.90 pushed LOC followed by APP when capturing the glide slope and began slowing down and dropping flaps and eventually gear until at VREF + 10 and flaps 30. Close to the turn I disabled Auto Pilot and Throttle. As suggested above I cheated a little to the left in the turn toward the visual reduced speed to VREF close to touchdown and nailed it on the center line. Wind was crossing from the right at 16 knots. I then repeated again. What a fun challenging approach! I can understand why real pilots sweated this one while almost joining the adjacent apartment building dwellers for tea. Any suggestions on my approach would be appreciated. Thanks again everyone for the great suggestions!Mike
  17. The FMC is not accepting the Kai Tak RWY 13 IGS freq @ 111.90. Everytime I try to input into the NAV/RAD on line 4L for ils or even into VOR #1 I get invalid input. Its on my game because the default aircraft pick it up and I can make the approach but the PMDG 744 won't. Is there a way to put it into the FMC data base or am I doing something else wrong? Please help, I would like to make this approach with this great addon aircraft.Mike
  18. Not the picture of the coffee cup! But at least the voice of the FA bringing it in to the cabin, with maybe the sound of the cockpit door opening. I also noticed that when on approach and the FO turns on the seat belt sign, there is no FA announcement that the "Captain has turned on the seat belt sign and .........".Mike
  19. I just finished a great flight from KABQ to KDFW using FS2 Crew 767 in conjunction with Radar Contact 4. What a great combination!!! FS2 Crew 767 is wonderful. Some questions.1. During the B&D check when I set the VOR 1 to manual and to a VOR fix, when I go to the FMC FIX page it shows nothing. How do I get the VOR 1 manual setting to show on the FMC FIX page? Or am I doing something completely wrong?2. When I call up the FA for coffee or food, they say OK but there is no arrival of the coffee or food. I sure miss that part (Like it is in FS2 Crew 737 and ATR). Anyway you could include it an upcoming patch? Or maybe I should just fire the FAs. :D Thanks!Mike
  20. What happened was the keyboard button I had the main mapped to simply would not work. So I changed to another keyboard button and it now works. Thanks for your help. So far FS2Crew 767 is great.Mike
  21. Every time the clock was below 14 minutes. I'll try again later.Mike
  22. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong. I've set and re-set my main key several times. I've gone through the tutorial 3 times. But when I get to where I must push the main key to start the before engine start check list, nothing happens. What am I missing? Please help. Thanks!P.S. I have the 737 and ATR FS2Crews and I always struggle on the learning curve...LOL. I guess this one won't be any different.Mike
  23. Bryan:If not the PMDG 747-400 which aircraft? The only other big iron one that I think would be worthy of FS2Crew would be the Dreamfleet 727 (assuming they would give you the SDK) but that is an old aircraft and would finding a pilot or pilots for help be easy? It would be kind of interesting to incorporate a flight engineer into the FS2Crew. My vote would still be for the PMDG 747-400 even if you have to use the mini-panels. I still fly the 737 a lot with the mini panels and enjoy it just as much as the ATR. I just click the mini panels off when not using them. I would stay away from anything by Captain Sim but thats just my opinion. Some other possibilities would be the Coolsky MD-80, Feelthere ERJ 145 (great systems, although the VC is not great) and the Aerosoft King Air.Mike
  24. The sound is much, much better now. I can clearly hear ATC loud and clear without having to put the sound sliders way over to the left. The exterior sounds are much better also. The 747 400F is great! Thankyou!Mike
  25. Forgot, my sound is onboard by Sound Max. No seperate sound card is being used. I've tried sound acceleration from basic to max with no apparent improvement.Mike
