P3D V2 Master Compatibility List (Closed)
shortspecialbus replied to Bob Scott's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
The spitfire seems unable to load fluids, and as a result is unusable. -stefan -
Has anyone had luck with the accusim spitfire in 2.1? It worked fine in 2.0, but in 2.1 I can't load fluids or starter cartridges and it's basically unusable as a result right now. I know it's not supported in P3Dv2, but I figured I'd check here if anyone had any luck with it. I installed via EMT and have the 1.6 accusim patch. I also opened a thread at a2a but the initial response was just a request to contact LM, which I guess is fine, but not really very helpful or likely to be fruitful: http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=38765 Anyone have any ideas? -stefan

That's on the addon manager and migration tool to fix or update, not lm. Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk

P3D 2.1 - ALL current issues fixed, patch is on final
shortspecialbus replied to rippy's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Unfortunately for me, and from what I've read a number of others, merely having SLI enabled will prevent P3D from displaying anything, or on the rare occasions I can coax it to display things, there's some horrendous display bugs (textures won't load, drawing the entirety of terrain or other things as that bluish gray color.) I was really hoping for the patch to have SLI fixes for that stuff. Maybe even if it doesn't have optimizations, it'll at least fix that stuff. We'll see - I'm really hoping for tomorrow because if nothing else I'm really tired of OOMs constantly. -stefan -

Can you find a source on that? Not to be a jerk but I haven't seen anything explicitly stating that, although I suppose maybe its absence from the fix list is evidence enough :( I'd really like that, I have SLI 4GB 670's that I'd like to make use of. -stefan -
P3D 2.1 - ALL current issues fixed, patch is on final

They've stated that it's going to be an approximately 100MB patch. I don't think they intend to do a hotfix model with small patches very often like Opus, for example, as they're primarily a military contractor and our market is a tiny, tiny subset of the money they depend on. -stefan -
I don't believe you'll be able to do so, and honestly I can't really think that you'll even bother with the effort once you load it up. You'd really have to go out of your way to see it, I think. -stefan

I guess check your spam folder? Most people haven't had an issue, so either their stuff is temporarily broken, or it's getting eaten by a spam filter or other such thing. Try it with a gmail address for now - you can always change it later. -stefan

It does in the sense that it's difficult to remember which 2.1 thread had which information or conversations that you were paying attention to. -stefan Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk

It's easy to disable - just uncheck the entries in the scenery library, assuming they're there. If they're not there, it means it installed it into the world scenery and that's a huge pain to find and rename (rename whatever the mesh files from whateverhteyare.bgl to whatevertheyare.lgb or something, simply to stop their loading temporarily. I manually install my fsgenesis mesh into its own folder so i forget that it normally installs itself to a stupid place. Sorry about that. Also, once you determine if it is the mesh or not, you can decide what to do - I wasn't implying to leave it disabled. -stefan

Or just a rudimentary low poly version that will cast the appropriate shadow. I don't think it will be a huge deal. Think of it like shadow puppets - it doesn't have to look good as an object to cast the appropriate shadow. Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk

stuck right rudder on launch of p3d v2 flight
shortspecialbus replied to theskyisthelimit's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
My guess is its seeing another joystick somewhere, or maybe an unconfigured throttle quadrant or something. If you're using p3d itself to do controls, check to see what all I put devices there are. It's likely it grabbed a throttle quadrant axis and assigned it to rudder. Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk -
I can also confirm that it's a small bit of text that's basically transparent. I can't say I've ever noticed it unless I looked for it. It's completely unobtrusive and unless you're looking for things to be angry about you won't see it. -stefan

I was one of the unlucky few who basically had an unusable P3Dv2 on release. After seeing all the posts from others about running out of VAS very quickly, I'm very skeptical that any PMDG planes will be able to run well at all, not so much in terms of frame rate but in terms of running out the VAS nearly immediately. I have no personal experience with this, because as mentioned P3Dv2 had far too many issues out of the box for me to even try it long enough to have a VAS issue, but I will say I'm concerned. Unfortunately, switching to 64bit is not only difficult but is incredibly likely to break a significant number of addons. -stefan

System Woes and Warts - A little background
shortspecialbus commented on Tom Allensworth's blog entry in Tom Allensworth's Blog
Layer 4 blocking makes more sense than htaccess, if you have access to it, which most larger sites should. There's a lot of options here still. -stefan -
They are not memory leaks. Memory leaks are a very specific thing and this is not it. It's simply overloading the memory, in a sense.

"Man with no performance charts never flies." I'll take slightly inaccurate just so I can feel happy about having something in PFPX - the crazy winds in FSX (even with Opus) tend to ruin fuel planning anyways. Not that I'm rushing you. (I am) -stefan
-
Slightly slow RAM shouldn't be causing that - certainly not on the order of 4-5 seconds. If it's thrashing swap, that would be a thing, but you'd probably notice that and you shouldn't be doing it anyways. It's possible something else on your PC is either thrashing disk or causing you some grief. You haven't installed any weird daemons, have you? It's also possible that something like Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% or whatever could be creating issues, although that's probably unlikely. You didn't download any SUPER ELITE PERFORMANCE BOOSTER A++++ things, did you? -stefan

Thinking of trying DX10
shortspecialbus replied to flyinion's topic in DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help
Could you try posting your water settings in case it doesn't come down with the theme? I'd love better water. I have my P3D water looking amazing but DX10 water in FSX still looks awful. -stefan -
Anyone know the current status of KPHX in DX10? I'm considering purchasing it but can't find anything current about DX10 with it, and unfortunately I kind of need that. I don't care about night lighting as I'm doing megasceneryearth 2.0 and don't fly at night. -stefan

Largely correct, except you've ignored one of the massive color changers and that would be whatever's suspended in solution. A lot of mud in the water, regardless of what's on the bottom, will make it brown. Plankton will make it green. And so forth. I'm ignoring the gist of your statement in order to be technically correct, which I'm told is the best kind of correct. -stefan

After having no issues whatsoever for several months, I started getting g3d.dll and StackHash crashes today. I didn't change anything at all. I tried updating FSUPIC to a newer version (I was several minor updates old) and no help. I see several other threads in the last few days as well about this. I wonder if there's something weird. -stefan
