  1. No kidding, is that what that's for? I never knew.that. I had to restrain a lot of my old friends in the home, from standing there, pressing the button incessantly. I tried putting a 45 rpm record in mine but it didn't fit. A mate told me it had an electric eye inside that could read it. I think he might have been pulling my chain. Jon
  2. Thank you for that information. Another little known, fact: A wet duck, never fliy's at night. Jon
  3. I heard it on the Wireless, that's what happens when you turn it on its side. My electricity bill is high enough. I don't want to waste it Jon I took the side off the box once and it didn't happen then but with regard to your post, they wouldn't have done that back in WW2. I think they had buckets of cheap electricity back then. Jon Maybe all the electricity tipped out. See? Jon I understand what you're saying but that would be like doing a BIOS flash in DOS. Too risky but thanks for your help. Jon One of the other reasons I don't want to do it before checking with you people. Do you think it might stain the carpet? Jon
  4. Will all the electricity run out? Jon
  5. Rush out now and buy a 34 inch wide 21.9 aspect ratio , ips display, subtle curved monitor. Has facility for a vesa mount and will give you more real estate for work or a completely transformed gaming or fs experience. I'd even go so far as to recommend one of these monitors. If you have a strong gpu. Jon
  6. I bet it looks seriously, great and that you're justifiably content with your choice. I fully accept and acknowledge that. 21.9 adds more dimension to scenery products. Nothing can make the work of ORBX or any scenery product, for that matter, shine, as it can on a 21.9 aspect ratio monitor. If you are sight impaired, as I am, the Asus p348q, is not only an ips display, curved monitor and very expensive. It is worth the money. Flight Simulation is built for 21.9 monitor. I am also more than happy with the evga 1080 driving the graphics. I make a bold statement in saying, I believe 21.9 is the evolution of monitors. The 3440 x 1440 resolution of my 100 hz monitor makes things so crisp and clear. The added ability of the screen to eliminate 'blue' light lets you leave the monitor after a session, with relaxed peepers. It's unbelievable. I've had mine for a few weeks now and my flight simulation experience becomes better and better. Jon
  7. I shoot in RAW with a Nikon D90. The 3440x1440 resolution does not change any aspect ratios it's merely 3 times sharper. The screen is 100% RGB gamut. Some have complained about the subtle curve of the screen for photo editing and illustrator work but I have not experienced anything negative to date. Back to the flight simming: I have not taken a flight since I bought. I spend a lot of time ogling scenery and aircraft models. Flying tonight, though. Jon
  8. I can fit 3 full documents side by side, I can have 20 tabs open. I work a lot in photoshop and coming from 2 monitors to one has been one of my most pleasant computing experiences. If your graphics card has grunt, This monitor, you will take to your grave, as I will.
  9. I tossed up between a 4k monitor and the one I purchased. 4k are better but require some serious graphical computing power. So does the Asus but the 21.9 aspect ratio has me completely sold on this format. The future of monitors I believe. My advice would be to upgrade to a powerful GPU. before contemplating my monitor or the excellent Acer equivalent.
  10. I bought a Asus PG348Q Ultra widescreen monitor today. Last week I bought a EVGA GTX 1080 8 gb card. I've had it 4 about six hours and it has transformed, everything. Flight Simulation is just totally built for this combination. I'm sight impaired and the resolution is crisp and well worth the huge cost if you're sharing my affliction. Seriously, it's a lot of money but this is the best upgrade I've done in 30 years of computing. It might sound like I'm skiting but I'm not. Bottom line: If you want a completely transformed system, this combination is freakin unbelievable and I'm not exaggerating. Heads up. This is the way to go. The card is churning some excellent frame rates but it's in the rendering I've noticed most difference. Happy Camper.
  11. This might explain 2 instances of a drop to single digits on a flight from egcc to eddf, I recently flew. I can't remember it happening before so I'll check the updates. Great info. Jon
  12. I go along with you 100%. I love the IXEG 737 Classic. Having said that I share the OP's opinion, too. I'm not going to point out any specific developer but it has happened twice, to me. The aircraft look sensational but not all of them deliver what is expected in the systems. I now deeply research every purchase. Jon
  13. Not only that! When I was younger, an Estonian Migration Tool was a pick or shovel. That Construction Company also operated in China but they changed the second name to Election. Jon
  14. Well said Rob. My point, absolutely and sloppy could be a better term. My perspective is documented above and I'll stick by it. I can imagine the intricacies involved with correcting code and I empathise but Developers alienate people like myself who are used to paying for add-ons that are 'ready' for market and I resign myself to paying, with the expectation the installation will be seamless and a pleasant experience. In the last 2 months I have purchased add-ons to the tune of AU$ 1000.00. The 350i is the only one I've installed that has raised my ire. Jon
  15. I have not received any content errors, other than scenery ORBX files that need updating but never an aircraft. I spent way too long doing battle with the inadequacies of FSX and I'm not going to start agonising over who's generating the errors. I have not used default aircraft since FS9 so I am unaware of any content error logs created.when installing the default aircraft. None registered when I recently re-installed P3Dv3 into a virginal Win 10, BTW, the only errors listed in the 853 anomalies, were generated by the 350i, none pertain to any other add-ons I have installed. So, maybe the 350i does work in v3 but with so many error reported, I don't consider it unreasonable to question the validity of Carenado's claim that it is compatible. Jon Thanks for that. Is the CEL considered to be a good or a bad thing? Jon
  16. I would stop advertising this aircraft as being compatible with P3Dv3. Where I come from its called false advertising. I purchased in good faith, having confidence that Carenado was a reputable developer. They most probably are because they've been around for quite a while but we 'promise to make it compatible in the future' doesn't wash with me. Test the product within the platform, iron out all the bugs, beforehand. Then their compatibility claims will not come back and bite them on the bum, as in this case. Jon
  17. If I was Carenado, I would stop advertising this aircraft as being compatible with P3Dv3. I have a LM P3Dv3 Content Error Log which is too large to paste here (tried twice). I have 853 errors reported. The aircraft starts ok, I can program the fms, alla that but with that many reported errors I'm going no further trying to find out what doesn't work. Off to flightsimstore to get a refund. Jon
  18. I was having the same problem and a kind soul directed me to open FTX Central v2. Bottom left go to settings, then the tools tab. Scroll down to FTX Global VECTOR Config tool. Open it and go to the Airport Elevation Corrections tab and run Auto Config. It fixed my problem. Jon
  19. Your advice was spot on and much appreciated. I vote, You, GURU. Jon Shearer
  20. I have updated my os to win10 and instead of my dvd copy of fsx, decided to install the FSX Steam edition. I re-downloaded the PMDG 737 NGX 800/900 as well as the 600/700 expansion so I would have the latest versions of each to install...which I did. My installation has a peculiarity in that the course and heading readouts are 3 digits in the 2d panel but only depicts 2 digits in the vc making it impossible to set either from the vc. Has anyone experienced this behaviour before and found a solution to correct it? I have run a couple of repair installs but the problem persists. Jon Shearer
  21. I look forward to Her day of release. The Icon.
  22. Hi Everyone, I am about to re-populate my P3D3 with all of my ORBX/FTX products but as I have just performed that exact task with FSX Steam product, I'm noticing a few instances of old FTX Central installations, appearing on my desktop. FTX Central 2 appears, as well. Does this activity affect the accuracy of the installation in any way? Yes, I am aware I should install the latest version and have done so. With the worst internet speeds imaginable. Jon
  23. I was aware of this but chickened out, not knowing how LM had worked their voodoo in P3Dv3. Pleased to see you're more intrepid than me, Dan. Also, it look like I have become a Flight Simulator Collector. I have 5 of them, now. When is all of this upgrading going to rationalise?. Jon Shearer
  24. Yes, I have the boxed set of DVD's. They are working on new installers but they've run into a few snags. Pilot's Guys are 'all over it'. Looking forward to when they're ready. On a connected note: Having so many add-ons to install has really made me take a good look at my organisation of Keys and Folders and bringing them all together to make the process run smoothly. FSX and P3D v1.4 are looking fantastic with all the add-ons installed. I've decided to go the whole hog and install all of it into P3Dv3 as installers become available. Jon Shearer
