Being that I'd have to drive 13 hours to see it I think I'll try flying it in the sim. I did drive down to Sante Fe, New Mexico to see the Ring of Fire eclipse last year. Most memorable thing about it was how cold it got when the sun's radiation was blocked. The air temperature did not drop, but I felt cold. Everyone was grabbing their jackets.

"As real as it gets"? I wonder if any of the flight sims are modeled accurately enough that the eclipse could be followed in a flight?

Very informative and interesting article Poppet. I knew that 2 sticks were better than 4 but not the reason why. Never heard of single/dual rank, Gear1/Gear 2 mode etc. Thanks for posting that link.

Nirvana Mark! Sorry, but I had a good chuckle from your question. If you look at my computer specs you'll understand. I bought all the components to upgrade my system to an 8700k when the CPU was released but never had the time to build it. They are still sitting on a shelf. Ray recently upgraded from the identical system as yours and has lots of posts about it. He will probably respond to you when he wakes up on the other side of the pond.

This is disappointing news. I've been looking forward to purchasing the new Concorde but I think I will just keep flying the P3Dv3 version. It is the only plane I fire up P3dv3 for these days. Yes I have the scenery level reduced but I am so busy just flying this beast that I don't have time to notice.

Just read your core performance post. I didn't respond to it as I don't know enough about those technicals to contribute. We'll have to wait for Bob Scott to see it.🙂

Did he happen to mention anything about
looking into the performance load on your computer orproviding manual options to operate the systems? For all of us potential purchasers you are our only link to information now Ray.Ted

Requests for news in the MSFS version are told it’s under development but nothing more. Certainly no previews and their website still has a 2020 copyright.
The quality and amount of discussion has dropped significantly Ted. Hard to know why that is. Perhaps because so much is automated there’s little for the user to do. I manually control pitch from the accel point to Mach 1.7 to give me something to do. Those who engage MAX CLIMB at the accel point have nothing to do but watch.
Shifting fuel rearwards and forwards at the appropriate points is handled by the systems which can’t be switched off. I really enjoyed that aspect which was quite challenging.
I agree with you Ray, handling the systems in the P3DV3 version was quite challenging but once you got the basics down it was fun. Sounds like you need to take Andrew Wilson out to dinner and have a good discussion over a pint or two.

Ray, I can't view the FSL forums either anymore but I remember there used to be a lot of very knowledgeable user to user discussions. Have all those folks given up on the Concorde?

Ray, I didn't realize you had that many BGLs.. I thought it was 150 but now I see that it was someone else who posted that number. Anyway, I'm glad you have a good working sim with 5.3 as you have been working a long time to get into the 64 bit Concorde.

Ray, With alI due respect, I don't think you can say at this time that 5.4 is to blame. Your testing has only shown that there is an incompatibility between 5.4 and one or more of the AIG bgls on your system. Whether some bgl or 5.4 has an error in it has yet to be determined. To keep the drama rolling in this thread you will have to find which one (or more) are the incompatible bgls with 5.4 by systematically removing half the bgls and testing again until they are discovered. Then the hard part starts of determining the cause of the incompatibility.
😁 I'm routing for you and putting on another pot of coffee.

I'd like to add Alex, developer of Little NavMap. He provides a superb freeware product with support that puts most of the payware shops I have used to shame.

If I knew it once, my old brain cells forgot it. Like you, I figured the issue was just my old system. I'm looking forward to trying this after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Great discovery Ray. This should be put in the P3D Tips and Tricks Forum after the comments fade.

If you can't find a 3D Printer to do it, from your pictures it looks like you could make a piece to do the job. Since it just holds the bushing in place you could probably make a holder that works out of a piece of hardwood with a saw, holesaw, drill, some thinking, and patience. Not too difficult and inexpensive.
Or...if you have an industrial supply store nearby that carries bearing holders you might be able to buy and modify something like one of these to work.

That settles it. I'm on windows 7 forever. I built and overclocked my current sim box in 2013 with the gracious advice of Nick Needham and it hasn't skipped a beat yet. Most reliable thing I own.

My experience has been that fluctuating frames were due to specific addons, mainly aircraft with complex systems.

Fantastic post there Bob. Very well written and a wealth of information you rarely see even on "professional" hardware review sites.

I haven't registered yet. Probably won't until Concorde is released. Until then I'm counting on you Ray to keep us up to date on the breaking FSL Concorde news. 😁
For you youngsters, let me introduce myself, and for you fellow old farts, perhaps this will wake up some sleeping brain cells dormant since the early 60's.:

That is why I never registered in the first place. Looks like I will have to give in....
Look for me in the FSL forums....my name is Jose Himenez. I am an astronaut.....😁

I do own the P3Dv3 Concorde and still cannot read the Concorde forums that I used to be able to until sometime earlier this year. I never registered on the FSL forums and I'm speculating that they now require you to register on the forums just to read them. I can read the announcements and General Forum but no longer the Concorde General Discussion or Concorde-X forums.
I don't usually purchase a product until I see in the forums that a product is performing acceptably and reasonable support is offered. Thank God, Tom Allensworth, and the volunteers here for the Avsim forums as more and more developers do not appear to want the buying public to be able to get this information from their forums.

Clicking on your link had the same result Ray, both the general discussion forum and concorde support forum say "You do not have permission to view this content". I guess you have to be a registered member to view anything on the FSL forums now.
That's OK, I'm sure I will hear about any news here at Avsim.
Thanks,
Ted

I can't get into the FSL concorde forums anymore. Do you have to set up an account just to read their concorde forums now or do I have my browser locked down to tightly for their site?

It wasn't when I was younger . Also I live in Denver. I only drove east across the plains once before to attend an Avsim conference in Wichita. Thought I was going to fall asleep at the wheel from boredom.
