  1. Purchased this and the King Air for v4, both look great. Now we just need Eaglesoft to deliver the Challenger 605! Regarding the max 250 IAS. The Mustang is a VLJ. It doesn't fly as fast a Small, Medium and Large Jets. VLJs cruise in between the speed of fast jetprops like TBMs/Cheyenne/King Airs and "Full" size corporate jets. What really matters is the TAS/GS. 240 Indicated at 35K is a decent speed. Not Phenom 300 or Citation X Fast. But pretty good for a VLJ. The Mustang is comparable to the Phenom 100 or Honda Jet. Ironically the older Lears are the same size as something like the Mustang but aren't VLJs as they cruise high and fast.
  2. Casablanca! - Long Over Due. Hope FSDG upgrades this to full fledged version instead of lite. Auckland - Overdue as well but there have been many changes to this airport ala O'Hare which make it difficult for a developer without knowing what the final design will be. I'd really like to see Burbank KBUR and an updated KPHL.
  3. Uhh Why Not? Leo only brought the MD-88 style pink config to P3D. A shell of what the Maddog 2008 was with literally every Maddog Cockpit config imaginable. I can understand skipping on the Cool Sky EFIS Pro Version. But their Original 1980s Super 80 all analog blue layout will be awesome and the DC-9 will be a welcomed improvement over the Skysim. I love the Leo Maddog. But in v4 It just feels incomplete without the option of the Blue, half analog or full analog variants that used to be available in previous versions! That said it is by far the best MD-88 style sim ever made. Which leaves Coolsky to be able to fill the gap with their original Super 80 config version. Which in my opinion is the most enjoyable version of the Maddog.
  4. I'm gonna hold out for the Titan or Ti version even if the standard 2080 is a big gap over the 1080Ti. I always wanted the Titan now will be the chance. Sounds like the Titan and Ti version won't arrive until 2019 though, right? Bummer that NVIDIA is drawing this time frame out so long. If there is enough of a price difference between all these chips that they target different folks budgets and needs. As it is it's unprecedented how long this current 1000 series has been around for without a successor. Typcially series of GPUs dont last as long as this generation has. So an upgrade is long over due at least it sounds like it will have been worth the wait. Hoping AMD can bring NVIDIA some legit competition as they have done to Intel.
  5. Sounds good. So after a brief test I locked 30 fps with the 30 fps limiter and used an eye candy Corporate Jet addon that is notoriously hard on FPS. That FFTF setting really did the trick with the aforementioned 64 thread AM setting. Think I'll stick with this new config as opposed to unlimited, no FFTF or AM. I'll also have to play around with the AM and see how few threads I can get away with and still lock 30 fps. But the thing with these AMD TR chips is they are primarily geared towards multithreading which is where they shine on CPU intensive tasks. On the 2990WX the single threaded performance is comparable to the 18 Core i9 7980XE, Multithreaded more than double the perf. But due to the architecture of the TR chips they split all that work across the cores. Its really 2 Ryzen CPUs fused into one so it may be beneficial to actually leave all the theads enabled on AM for me. On an i7/i9 its a different ball game. As both these top dog CPUs get the job done but get there in different ways. Also I have always wondered is there a particular part of the P3D cfg that is ideal for placing the Job Sceduler header and the solo AM setting for it? I actually placed it this time right after the MAIN section. I have also put it at the very top and bottom of the cfg in the past when using it as well. It seems to be working really well after that test so I'll just leave it after the MAIN section I guess....
  6. Thanks Steve. Yeah makes sense. I can confirm that with HT enabled without AM I did see lower FPS on my 1950X. Which is why I ran it without HT and without AM and got the best performance. On the AMD 2990WX. I'm curious to see how it runs with HT enabled. And to get all 64 threads I calculated my AM # to be : [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=‭‭4294967292‬ Pretty insane. On my 1950X without HT the number would have been 65535. But I saw no improvement with AM in the CFG on so I left it out. I'm gonna try the 32 Core HT Enabled AM setting as above with my new CPU in V4 with 30fps limit and FFTF of 0.1 and see how it goes.
  7. Longtime Simmer/Developer here. Pardon my ignorance but what's LP? I actually just upgraded from the AMD TR 16 Core 1950X which I got in Aug 2017 to the just released 32 Core 2990WX. Ran the 1950X without HT so it was just the 16 cores. But giving HT a go on the 2990WX for 64 threads. Multitasking and speed of Audio/Video encoding is absolutely amazing. No plans to overclock it as it will go up to 4.2 on its own even though I have a great TR specific liquid cooler. Running my 32GB of DDR4 at 3333 and CL15 with SLI 1080TIs. Unlimited as always been the smoothest experience for me. Even when I had 3+ yr i7 3770K build until last Summer. As whenever I set to 30fps I basically get half the FPS I normally get. In FSX and now P3Dv4 I have always gotten the best experience with no Affinity Mask setting and Unlimited FPS with Vsync Off in the Sim but with it Set in NI. I did get issues when running time accleration on my 1950X after about 10 minutes of 4x the ground starts getting very blurry when doing long haul flight tests. And I have to refresh the scenery when going back to 1x. From what I've gathered from this thread (I run a 27" Dell TFT U2711 w/ DP at 60hz) limiting to 30 FPS with FFTF of 0.15 for the best balance of frames and texture/autogen would be ideal? I have never tried using the FFTF setting when limiting FPS. Perhaps that's why It never worked out for me. Also I can run at 30hz but find the sluggishness of the mouse unacceptable to me when not in FS and switching back and forth not practical. But have used the 60hz with half refresh rate Vsync in Nvidia Inspector as that has provided a very smooth experience even with unlimited FPS in P3Dv4. I'm gonna try limiting to 30fps and playing with FFTF. Great Thread.
  8. I really hope to see the Challenger 605 see the light of day. Long overdue airplane for the FS world.
  9. United actually has just as many RR 757s as they do PW. Don't forget Continental had a large RR only 757-200 and 757-300 fleet.
  10. Where'd you get the INS in your DC10 from? Care to share? The DC10 HD from JF sadly has no INS. And for that reason I'll refuse to use it until it has one. I actually regret buying it truthfully. The exterior model is nice but thats about it. The sounds are bad. VC still leaves a little to be desired in some areas and the FDE : it feels awfully light on the controls you can do stuff like raise the nose at 90knots etc. Hoping JF improves this for 747. Same thing has held me back from purchasing the VC-10 which I want badly. But i'll keep waiting for the VC10 Pro version with the INS.
  11. You're parsing words my friend. I simply said think of it as an analog FMS if there was such a thing, which there clearly isn't. I didn't say it is one or the other. The context of my response was regarding using an INS and used that wording as an example to compare and contrast new to old. Technically speaking you are correct. That and all the complex gyroscopes it has to triangulate its position in the world. They do the same job an FMS does today. Another good comparsion would be MS DOS to Windows 10 for example. Back in the day a French Panel designer did the Litton INS for his popular and extremely well done A300B2/B4 panels. It worked more like the primitive L1011 CDU FMS then it did a CIVA INS. I never quite spent enough time to figure out how to use it. It worked radically different then the CIVA from what I recall. The Littons weren't really that popular IRL. The CIVA INS and offshoot INS' from competitors that worked similar to it were hands down the most popular units on 60s to early 80s era widebody airliners. 707, 747CL, DC10, L1011 (Non-CDU Equipped), A300B4 and the Soviet IL86s which had CIVA like units on the Navigators station.
  12. The INS really isn't all that hard. Think of it as an analog FMS that has space for up to 9 preset waypoints with their exact lat long position. If you need more you start replace the waypoints you flew over already with new ones further down your flight OR if you have dual/triple INS like these birds had. You set each INS in sequential order and switch over to the other INS' when you've flown all the waypoints on a particular one (Used to do that in the SST Concorde for example it works great) I personally love INS and VOR/NDB flying when using classic airliners. It makes it fun and forces you to think. Your head is the moving map, picture intercepts etc. Its great stuff. But it would be nice to also have an FMC for some late 90s and 2000s era 747 Classic type flying. Ala KLM, Martinair and the Freighters.
  13. It's been out awhile. I can live without the FMS (VOR, NDB and Radial DME flying is great) but just wish it still at least had the option for the SP-177 forward facing autopilot. There's also a complete lack livery availability for it which is a shame. So it's 2D pop ups (Like I do in the Skysim DC-9 for example) for the pedestal mounted A/Ps. Unless you are a camera wiz using the pedestal mounted A/P in the VC really stinks on a desktop PC FS environment. But the model is great and the engine sounds are fantastic.... made by one of the best Sound Guys out there.
  14. You guys did a great job with the 737. Shame about the FMS but maybe at least the 177 without the FMS would be a nice trade off down the road. Only thing is it would be nice if their were more liveries available. Namely for some of the Venezuelan and other South American outfits that still fly this bird with the SP77 config. Mike did a wonderful job with the sounds as always as well. Best, Emil S.
  15. They updated it to 4.3 but there is sadly no SP177 or FMS if your planning on doing those fun Canadian freight runs. The older SP77 is well done however. But strictly VOR/NDB navigation.
  16. Hoping the -72 has the Honeywell FMS. And/Or the option to fly Older 72s and 42s that were just radio navigation, no FMS. Good luck on the bird Milviz.
  17. Had the iFly 744 for FS9 which I used until I switched to P3D4.1 as my personal sim outside of development work and it was incredibly well done. Although not a fair comparison to the FS9 version of the PMDG 747 which was much older. Same thing with the 737 had the iFly 737 for FS9 and now the NGX in P3D and visual wise it's no comparison in favor of PMDG but iFly actually simulates more systems than the PMDG NGX in the Navigation dept. Properly working RNP approaches without the work around incremental RF waypoints to draw the arcs, iFly draws the RNP arc like the real thing does point to point without the workaround RF points. Also another thing the iFly does is it is GLS/GBAS capable which the PMDG is not. GLS is increasingly growing in popularity world wide it will eventually replace ILS particularly when it becomes upgraded from Cat 1 to Cat 3b certification. Pretty soon you'll even have RNP approaches coupled with a GLS straight in final segment that at some point could be fully flown under the AP, really cool stuff. If GLS and RNP isn't that big of a deal visually, depth of core systems and soundset wise the PMDG QOTSII has an edge over the iFly. But that is to be expected for the pricepoint. PMDG does fantastic sounds, particularly from the NGX onwards. Well produced, mixed and mastered. Great fidelity and implementation.
  18. Chaseplane Smooth Camera and Static Views don't work either.
  19. Let me remind you I am NOT an AMD shill and have used Intel my entire life. My previous 3770K based rig was terrible with FSX/P3D platform. I Got the 3770K right when it came out years ago and finally upgraded to the 1950x in the Summer of 2017. I usually upgrade PCs every 3-4 years. Now, let's not get carried away.... 10-20%? With a Threadripper or even mid-high tier Ryzens? I doubt that very much. Remember the GPU plays a big role here too. P3D takes advantage of multiple cores for background processes and scenery loading etc. Unlike the FS9 days it's not just only about single threaded performance. Granted ESP is till single thread/clock speed biased... but the Threadrippers and other Ryzens do an outstanding job. And when paired with a 1070/1080 type card. They among the top of the top. These new AMDs overclock nicely with maintenance free closed loop CPU coolers like the Corsairs. Even at the stock 3.4GHZ on the 1950x which it will turbo-boost to 4.0, the 2 metrics you noted are a virtual wash on the top line AMDs vs Intels with the Intels a slight edge. Multi threaded performance the Threadripper line beats anything Intel has to offer except their $2000 18 Core Extreme which has a lower base speed than the 1950x BTW. And even then the Multithreading peformance is marginally better than the Threadripper at a $1000+ price premium. I'd take the 1950x and a 1080TI with that extra 1000. The X399 was the hardest to get chipset mobo 2nd half of last year for a reason. The Threadripper system was simply a better value in the higher end performance segment and does better in overall computing. I do sound design so I need fast encoding/decoding and the 1950x delivers it in spades. And as I said it runs P3D/ESP the best I have ever had by far. I think had you held out for that mobo a little longer you would have been extremely happy with the 1950x. Easily overclockable to 4GHZ stable on a good cooling setup. On the otherhand though I am glad I did not end up waiting for last winters Q3/Q4 7th Gen Extremes to be released as they've already been passed over in favor of the 8th gen architecture and I wouldn't have ever had the privileged of seeing what AMD has been working on all these years. We have finally, for the 1st time in many, many years. Maybe since the early to mid 2000s virtual 1 to 1 parity with the AMD/Intels. And it's great for us consumers. It's a shame people seem not be open minded and trying something different. This thread should be renamed "Best Intel CPU for running P3D" loi. All jokes aside. All of us have benefited from this new found parity in the CPU world. Hopefully in a year or 2 if AMD can close the gap to Nvidia as they have done with Intel it would be a dream come true. Competition drives these companies to put out the absolute best they can and for the consumer it's a win-win.
  20. Surprised to see NOT ONE recommendation for any of the new Ryzen chips which have comparable and in many cases better performance for price than quite of a few of the intels. I've used Intel chips my entire life. This past summer decided to give AMD's new Threadripper 1950x top of the line 16 core CPU a go. Upgrading from a 3770K. I got it in August as my 3770K was on the way out and didn't want to wait for Q4 '17 i7 Extreme's to be released. Let me tell you the ESP platform has never run better. I run it with a Zenith Extreme Mobo, 3466mhz CL15 DDR4 32GB G Skill Ram, 2 GTX1080TIs in SLI and have my OS and P3Dv4 on 2 separate Samnsung 960 EVO 2TB m.2 SSDs. I'm able to pretty much lock 30FPS even in the most intensive areas with the entire Orbx Global and FTX suite, Open LC, FS Global 2018 FTX with lots of addon scenery. It's also phenomenal in multi tasking (best I have ever used), Audio Mixing/Mastering/Editing and Encoding/Decoding as well as Video Encoding/Decoding. Not to mention being able to record P3D with OBS with virtually zero FPS loss. Really an awesome alternative to some of the top tier Intels and I'd do it all over again if I had the choice. No regrets heading over to AMD for the 1st time.
  21. Hendrik, As Scott noted. That is virtually an empty weight 787-8, only 300,000lbs. That's 200,000lbs less than MTOW. The 787 only ever needs TOGA at high altitude airports like Bogota and Mexico City When Over 400,000lbs or within 25,000 lbs of MTOW near sealevel. Most of the time on sub 3000 mile routes it's TO1/2 + a hefty assumed temp added on top of that. We simulated both the GENx and RR Trent EICAS' and unique engine readings. So the TPR on the Rolls is a bit different scale with TPR and a lower relative LPC fan speed than the GE which is all N1 based. The RR also has a tiny bit more power particular on the -9 so it's usually TO1/2 on that as well. Ben, We modeled all of the A/T modes you eluded to and they work as they should. VNAV ALT is also modeled. Arming VNAV prior to takeoff and engaging the autothrottle to set the thrust ref you'll see all of these respective A/T and VNAV modes activate at all the correct phases from spool up to 400ft agl.
  22. VNAV Descent is based on our internal performance specs for the airplane. It will behave differently based on the variant, engine model weight etc. VNAV will work in the real thing with or without wind forecasts. The wind forecasting makes it more precise, sure. But in the simulator environment I think you'll find that it more than gets the job done.
  23. Hi Eric, There is a minor work around the wind forecast problem. For those of you with PFPX, it calculates all the fuel based on the winds aloft along the flight route. And if you use Active Sky I can assure you the fuel will be exactly what you need for the flight. Most 787 operators land with 50 to 140 minutes of fuel left on board depending on the length of the flight. 50 Min is about 9000+ lbs of fuel. QW787 Dispatcher has a fuel calculator for fuel required. We paid a lot of attention to the fuel burn accuracy during development
  24. Auto Step and Manual Step Climbs are part of the product. Winds Aloft forecasting is not at this time.
  25. Would LOVE to see somebody take up the following : Since we have a decent current AAL Super 80 livery, these 2 always overlooked would be great. Early AAL Circa 1980s Super 80 with the aluminum polished tail like the 727s were, black nose and Super 80 titles up front on lower fuselage, non-cone. 1990s-Mid 2000s AAL Super 80, Grey Painted Tail with black nose with/without Super 80 title up front, Cone model. Continental, Insel Air and SAS would be nice as well.
