  1. Washington National is the preferred domestic airport for commuters and tourists alike for travel to the Washington Metro Area. The airport is only 3 miles south of the National Mall and due to this features a variety of scenic and unique approaches/departures for aircraft departing or arriving at the airport. It features a variety of flights from North American flights ranging from regional to transcontinental. This month, we visit the United States capital as part of the Cherry Blossom Fly-In 2018 event held by the Virtual Washington ARTCC. 2. The Eurostar line is a high-speed train that runs from London City Centre to Paris City Centre in just under 2.5 hours. It travels in a tunnel under the English Channel at speeds of up to 300km/h, but is it more fun or faster than flying? This month we are going to find out how fast you can fly the same route. Departing London City (EGLC), your mission is to navigate the busy London airspace, cross the English Channel and land at Le Bourget (LFPB) with the Canadian Xpress Bombardier Dash 8-Q400, Embraer E190 or British Aerospace Avro RJ100 freeware or payware aircraft which are available to all pilots regardless of rank but only for the challenge. Join Canadian Xpress today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won including: Any Aerosoft Download Product from: The March 2018 Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress pilots from March 3rd until March 29th, 2018 so join Canadian Xpress today by visiting http://CanadianXpress.ca . *Canadian Xpress accepts 50% of your VATSIM, IVAO or other Virtual airline hours with no limits.
  3. Fly the Mayday Tour with the Canadian Xpress The Canadian Xpress Mayday tour features 30 episodes of the popular Discovery Channel series Mayday, which investigates air crashes, near-crashes, hijackings, bombings and other disasters. Mayday uses re-enactments and computer-generated imagery to reconstruct for its audiences the sequence of events leading up to each disaster. In addition, aviation experts, retired pilots and crash investigators are interviewed explaining how these emergencies came about, how they were investigated and how they could have been prevented. Each leg starts at the departure airport of the accident flight and ends at either the intended destination or where the emergency landing took place. The Canadian Xpress Mayday tour consists of 30 legs that must be flown in order and includes 48 different airports located around the world flown by no less than 18 different aircraft from the Beechcraft B1900D to the Airbus A380-800. Needless to say, the whole Canadian Xpress fleet will be put to the test! Join Canadian Xpress today by visiting http://CanadianXpress.ca and fly the Mayday Tour! *Canadian Xpress accepts 50% of your VATSIM, IVAO or other virtual airline hours with no limits.
  4. In that case, it is indeed a valid reason. Regards,
  5. I never understood why a paint kit is not released at the same time as the aircraft. Yet another aircraft sitting in the hangar doing nothing.
  6. Some people head south in the winter to escape from the cold weather. Others, actually flock to the cold and snow. This month, we are following seasonal route to Telluride (KTEX). At 9,078 feet above sea level, Telluride is the highest commercial airport in North America. At this height the air is much thinner and aircraft behave much differently then at the airports that located at lower altitudes. Due to the height of the airfield, aircraft size are limited at this airport, so turbo props or the small corporate jets are ideal for this event. Canadian Xpress would like to invite all pilots & virtual airlines to join us on Saturday, February 24th at 10h00est (15h00z) and 21h00est (Sunday 02h00z) for our February 2018 fly-in where we fly from Denver (KDEN) to Telluride (KTEX). This is an open invitation to all pilots no matter what your flying experience to attend this Canadian Xpress event that will be flown on the VATSIM network. See you all on Saturday the 24th!
  7. Hailed as the 'Queen of the Skies', the Boeing 747 was embraced by every major North American carrier since the first model rolled off the assembly line in 1968. As airlines renew their fleet, they are switching to cheaper, more efficient models. The Great Queen’s time has passed in this part of the world. On January 3rd, 2018, Delta Flight 9771 took off from Atlanta on its final Boing 747 flight and the final 747 to be operated by a North American passenger carrier. That flight took aircraft #30269 an 18-year-old 400 model to its retirement home in Arizona where it will be stored and used for spare parts and eventually some point in the future will be broken up for scrap. This month’s challenge is to recreate that flight where you will fly the Canadian Xpress freeware or payware Boeing 747-400 which is available to all pilots regardless of rank but only for the challenge from Atlanta (KATL) to Pinal Airpark (KMZJ). Since the aircraft is to be flown with its 346 seats empty, typical fuel calculations will not apply. Join Canadian Xpress today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won including: Any Aerosoft Download Product from: The February 2018 Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress pilots from February 3rd until February 26th, 2018 so join Canadian Xpress today by visiting http://CanadianXpress.ca .
  8. The PGA Tour 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open will be held from January 29th to February 4th, 2018 and Canadian Xpress will be the carrier of choice to bring golf fans to Phoenix, Arizona. Pilots should plan their departure time to land at Phoenix Sky Harbor Intl (KPHX) around the same time. Canadian Xpress would like to invite all pilots & virtual airlines to join us for our January 2018 fly-in on Saturday, January 27th where everyone is to arrive in Phoenix Sky Harbor Intl (KPHX) around 11h30est (16h30z) and 22h30est (Sunday 03h30z). 11. This month, we fly one of Canadian Xpress Cargo's most profitable cargo routes the Coquihalla River run. Departing from Vancouver you are to fly to Williams Lake making stops along the way at Hope and Kamloops. You also have the option of transporting passengers up this route along with cargo for this challenge. The amount you carry depends on the aircraft you select, but some of the runways are short and between mountains, so make sure you’re not loaded to heavy as the extra weight will slow you down when you need to make some quick turns. We have a fuel contract at Vancouver and Williams Lake, so plan your fuel for the whole trip. Refueling along the way is NOT permitted. Don’t forget to unload about 25% of your cargo or passengers at each airport along the way. Join Canadian Xpress today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won including: Any Aerosoft Download Product from: The December 2017 Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress pilots from December 3rd until December 29th, 2017 so join Canadian Xpress today by visiting http://CanadianXpress.ca . *Canadian Xpress accepts 50% of your VATSIM, IVAO or other Virtual airline hours with no limits.
  12. This month, we return to St. Maarten where on the 6th and 7th of September 2017 the island was hit by Hurricane Irma (Category 5 at landfall), which caused widespread and significant damage to buildings and infrastructure. Saint Maarten is not back to its pre-Irma beauty, but the island is cleaned up and back in business and ready for the tourist season. Canadian Xpress would like to invite all pilots & virtual airlines to join us on Saturday, November 25th at 10h00est (15h00z) and 21h00est (Sunday 02h00z) for our November 2017 fly-in where we will depart Miami (KMIA) and head to Princes Juliana International (TNCM) for a spectacular approach over the famous Maho beach where aircraft fly just feet above the heads of beach goers as they enjoy the white sands and clear waters of the Caribbean. 17. This month we fly one of the busies short haul routes there is in North America, maybe even the world. With flights leaving ever 45 minutes all day long, the short 45 mile hop from Vancouver (CYVR) to Victoria (CYYJ) is very popular way to connect the mainline to BC’s provincial capital. Your challenge this month is to fly that route with the most passengers you can in the most efficient way with the Canadian Xpress Bombardier Dash 8-Q400, DeHavilland Dash 6-Q300 or Cessna C208B Grand Caravan Freeware or payware aircraft that are available to all pilots regardless of rank, but only for the challenge. 18. The Edmonton to Kelowna run in our early years of FlightSim use to be a Friday Night staple in the FS community. With its old offset and back course approaches, it really tested a virtual pilot’s skill. Years has pasted since then, and Kelowna has seen number of upgrades, which include removing the offset and back course approaches, we all loved so much. This month, we relive that flight from all those years ago, even without that crazy mountain approach it’s still an exciting trip to make. Kelowna can handle aircraft up to B737 in size, and WestJet makes daily trips on this route using their fleet of Q400s. Canadian Xpress would like to invite all pilots & virtual airlines to join us on Saturday, August 19th at 10h00edt (14h00z) and 21h00edt (Sunday 01h00z) for our August 2017 fly-in where we will fly from Edmonton (CYEG) to Kelowna (CYLW). 24. Kai Tak Airport was the international airport of Hong Kong from 1925 until 1998. It was officially known as Hong Kong International Airport from 1954 to 6 July 1998, when it was closed and replaced by the new Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok, 30 kilometres (19 mi) to the west. It is often known as Hong Kong International Airport, Kai Tak, or simply Kai Tak, to distinguish it from its successor which is often referred to as Chek Lap Kok Airport. In 2013, the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal was opened on the site of the former airport's runway. With numerous skyscrapers and mountains located to the north and its only runway jutting out into Victoria Harbour, landings at the airport were dramatic to experience and technically demanding for pilots. The History Channel program Most Extreme Airports ranked it as the 6th most dangerous airport in the world. Canadian Xpress would like to invite all pilots & virtual airlines to join us on Saturday, June 24th at 10h00edt (14h00z) and 21h00edt (Sunday 01h00z) for our June 2017 fly-in where we will fly from Manila-Ninoy Aquino Intl (RPLL) and head northeast to Hong Kong Kai Tak (VHHX).
