  1. This "new" 1.2.3 version did not work for me either but I have the older 1.2 version working OK most of the time. Sometimes when I get near the active the GPS part of the overlay of the airport disappears but I'm close enought to the active to find it on my on. I'm just going to use it as it is for awhile. It sure makes finding my way around an airport a LOT easier when using the ATC from RC4. jerrycwo4
  2. I'm not sure just what you are referring to. I have the two payware airports that you have to use with Aerosoft AES ( I forgot who made them) and I dont have any problems with the scenery. Could you explain a little bit more? Thanks jerrycwo4
  3. I've been flying from Vancouver to (near) Whistler Mountain in two differant ways. There is a small lake with seaplane landing near by(CAE5) and also I've been flying into Pemberton (CYPS) which is close. The people that are going there from Vancouver by air (FOR REAL), what airport are they flying into? They, the 2 flights, are two of the most beautiful flights I've ever flown in 12 years of Flight Simulation. jerrycwo4Whistler Mountain is at approx: 50-07 N, 122-56W
  4. Idid receive the following email from DBS if anyone else uses this program. It makes using Radcr Contact 4 a joy to use !"When you run Database update tool - you not need wait while bar access to right side - database tool exit automatically when done anf if yopu not see warning messages - tool finish succesfull. If 1.3. not load with 2004 - use 1.2.3 version (http://www.dbsim.com/aptgps/dbs.aptgps.2004.1.2.3.zip). This version not support external GPS."jerrycwo4
  5. Tried a flight to CYVR- Vancouver, B.C. and neither "GATE KEEPER" or DBS's "AIRPORT GPS" would show any data (gates/runways) there. If you have either of these programs would you give it a try and see if they work for you. Thanks jerrycwo4
  6. Aug... there it is. I clicked on the UT icon and it brought up the window but it siad it was, "Version1....". On a hunch, I right clicked in the upper blue part of the window and it gave me, "About Ultra Tarrain SET Up" When I clicked on that it said," Version 1.3" Thanks for the help. It was kind of hard to find. I really like this program. I think it did for the "Ground" what REX and GE Pro did for the sky and clouds. I have not decided if I like the Residental Roads as yet. jerrycwo4
  7. Just a note. I key, "Ctrl/F12" to bring up the radar then click on the small green light to turn it on. I check the wind direction mostly and then turn it off and remove it from my visable monitor. jerrycwo4 ( I checked once and it did use some FPS to leave it running, but not so much on my new computer.)
  8. Could someone give me the link for this gauge? jerrycwo4
  9. I've understood that there is no pushback tug for FS2004. Of course some aircraft have them built in, you can use AES at certain airports that are equipped for it, or sometimes I just have to use the old, "SHIFT/ P" to get my aircraft pushed back. I've even used the reverse prop feature on certain aircraft to pull me back. jerrycwo4
  10. Update.Since I ALWAYS install a Window's "Restore Point" I just used it to go back BEFORE I tried to install that update 1.3. It put me back to where I was. If you don't use the "Restoe Points", you should ! It has saved me a lot of problems. Its like that old program, "GO BACK" used with WINDOWS 98, but it does about the same thing. I'm going to wait awhile before I try that new up date again. Anyone else have the same problem ? Thanks jerrycwo4
  11. Anyone using DBS Studios Airport GPS? I just downloaded and installed Update 1.3 for FS2004. After the installation I had to "run" the Airport Database Module about 15 times before the "blinking cursor would go all the way across the "status bar" from left to right. When I tried to start FS2004 I go a nasty message stating that I could continue with Fs2004 but that some aircraft or software would be disabled. When I clicked on the DBS "icon" at the top of the FS2004 window, Airport GPS was gone ! It was no longer there. I'm going to uninstall the program and reinstall it and only put update 1.2 back on until the company fixes the problem. I think it is a Japaneese company as their english is pretty bad. jerrycwo4
  12. I just finished installing UT FS2004 USA on my computer. I think this was the hardest, most difficult download/installed I have ever made in 12 years on computers. I just dont see why it has to be so complicated !!!! I even installed the latest update 1.30 ( I think). Could someone please tell me where on the computer to look to VERIFY that I have version 1.30 installed? I cannt find it. Thanks jerrycwo4
  13. Thanks for those great replies. It will take awhile to go through them. Problem is I had a PERFECT flight this morning while using RC4 and Flight Deck Companion (FDC). I seem to have more perfect flights when before each flight I RE-define the path in RC4 to the "flights/weather" folder. but I should NOT have to redefine this path every time I fly. Thanks jerrycwo4
  14. You might be a good person to ask as I still do not have an answer to this. Why would a person put up with the much poorer performance of FSX when FS2004 runs so good on new modern computers? What so special about FSX to you over FS2004? Thanks jerrycwo4
  15. Recently I installed the newest version of RC4 but it is not working correctly a lot of the times. About every 2-3rd flight when instructed to contact the tower, ground or someone else that person will not answer, they just keep telling me to contact _____ and I key the #1 key, but they never will answer. Also strange, sometimes the radio will automaticly tune it's self and sometimes I have to do it myself. Nothing is consistant ! Of course after 15 minutes of fighting to get the radio to answer up, my whole flight is ruined and I stop the whole mess. I really like flying with RC4 but at this current state it is totaly un sat. It seems to happen more often when I'm also using Flight Deck Companion (FDC) but I'm not 100 % sure about this yet. I might check out that other ATC program,FS Flight Commander to see if it will work better. I could always go back to FS 2004 ATC. Anyone have the same problem? Thanks jerrycwo4
  16. I could not tell from their website. IS UT USA now available on a DVD rather than downloading such a big file? jerrycwo4
  17. I have a copy of the old "Shadow Gauge" that lets you turn your aircrafts shadow (and all other aircrafts around you) OFF and ON by just clicking a toggle switch that you put into your aircraft's panel by modifying its panel.cfg file. If I could do it, anybody can do it. I did NOT make this gauge. I only saved a copy of it when I first installed it a few years ago. Back then I flew 99.9 % of the time in the Chase view mode, and not in the VC mode that I now do with 3 monitors. It really looked strange to be overcast and have a bright shadow under your plane. ) You know you do get better frame rates when this shadow is turned OFF. Now its easy to turn off and on. I do not know how to upload this gauge here to the Avsim librbary and it might not even be legal for me to do so because I dont own this gauge nor did I make it. Until someone tells me how to upload this gauge, I'll email it to you if you'll send me a PM (private message) jerrycwo4
  18. OK, when Manchester is ready for AES do I need to UNINSTALL "Manchester" and then put a check mark in the box that asks me if I have AES during the installation prosses? jerrycwo4
  19. So you are saying that UT enhances GE Pro and it does NOT replace GE Pro? When I look out of my aircraft's window at the ground, it will look "better" or more real like than it does now that I ONLY have GE Pro ( and some mesh) installed ? jerrycwo4
  20. Good bye to an old friend. When I joined the US Navy in 1960 in the middle of the Pacific ocean all we had was celestial navigation and Loran "A". Then, Loran ( LOng RAnge Navigation) took a long time to get a fix and the accuracy was questionable, at best. Then Loran C came along and it was a superior navigation system, then came OMEGA, then GPS...... jerrycwo4
  21. I've been talking (email) with the Gate Keeper's author, the guy that made it. He had a need to assign a DEPARTURE gate from his departure airport and a flight plan OUTSIDE of Fs2004. His program has NOTHING to do with an ARRIVAL gate at your destination airport. The only thing his "arrival" button can do is to show you the LIST of the gates at the destination airport, not assign one. It cann't assign one or keep one open for your parking when you arrive at your destination airport. I can put an arrival gate number at the destination airport with Radar Contact 4, but as yet, I'm not sure that this also keeps this gate open for me to park there. Anyone know how to make sure FS2004 keeps your arrival gate OPEN for you until you get there? How do you do it? jerrycwo4
  22. A lot of us have the "missing" file that he says he needs, but I guess you have scared us off, me to. I to, paid a "mint" for all of my AES stuff, but I'd help him if I could know for certain it was a legit need. jerrycwo4
  23. Mon Feb 8 ( Yea SAINTS) Just found this this evening. I'l get back to you. jerrycwo4
  24. Yes I have REX installed, but I had this problem with flickering BEFORE I installed REX. Like I said I fly with three 26" monitors and even with the most powerful computer that I could buy I could still get the flickering. The "system" CPU, Graphic card etc just can NOT keep up. My new computer (4.01 GHz CPU) was made by Jetline and he set it to me with the FPS set at 45 and that's when I'd get flickering in complex views. I experimented with the FPS setting and found that most of the flickering stopped when I reduced the FPS from 45 to 26. Even now with some complex views/ aircraft I get a little but after leaving the complex views the flickering stops. I also found that when the flickering appears , and it's ALWAYS on my right hand monitor ( I have 3). that I can "undock" an active Garmin 500 GPS and drag it over to the flickering monitor and the flickering STOPS immedataly ( but then I found that the FPS drops from 26 to about 10-13. I have learned to live with this situation. My 3 26" monitors are worth it. jerrycwo4
  25. I have never understood just what UT does. Does it make the "ground" look differant that the "default" ground or does it take the place of a program like Ground Environment Pro or other "ground scenery" programs? Thanks jerrycwo4
