  1. Looking for a old school prop- liner to use in P3d. Considering JustFlight's Connie or DC-6B to be used with FSEconomy. I have the A2A Stratocruiser but it's not working in P3dV2.4. I'm using the Flight Replica's DH-114 Heron and like it but I'm looking for something a bit larger and faster. I want a good VC with at least fairly accurate systems modeling and great sounds or aftermarket sounds available. I know PMDG has a DC-6 coming but it might be awhile before it's available for P3d. Your suggestions recommendations wanted....thanks in advance.
  2. It would help if you told us what type of aircraft you want? GA, Business, commercial, military, vintage, etc?
  3. Since this topic is back Alive I'll throw in my .02c worth... I would not buy any new yoke regardless of price that does not use Hall magnetic sensors instead of Potentiometers. I have a PFC Saab Desktop yoke and while it's nice I honestly don't think it's nearly as precise as my MFG rudder pedals. So much so I asked PFC if they could upgrade it to a hall magnetic sensor version and was unfortunately told hat the upgrade would cost as much as a new unit and i would be better off selling what I have to buy new.
  4. I have the Reality XP 430 and hardly used it, was hesitant to buy the new GTN 750 but glad I did; it's awesome!
  5. Another thing is to review the load sheet the Metro by default is loaded down heavy which is going to require a lot more power. Lighten the cargo and fuel load if you can. Trying to take off fully loaded in hot weather and it'll wallow like a duck with butt full of buckshot.
  6. Yes I really like it a lot much better than the older Garmin units in that I was able to pick it up and just "figure it out" without having to watch tutorial videos etc. The only setback is that the data set is dated and prohibitively expensive to update.
  7. Flight one forums got me sorted. In a nutshell using the Panel Id Toggle function of FSUIPC and the following Panel ID numbers you can assign any key press or hardware button/switch you want to open and close the 2D gauge window. 750U1:14401 750U2:14402 650U1:14403 650U2:14404 link to the thread below http://www.simforums.com/forums/button-or-key-command-for-2d-pop-up_topic51143.html
  8. See the Problem is F! didn't assign a default key command to trigger the pop up window of the GPS nor did they provide for any sort of install option similar to Hi-Fi's X-gauge wizard which allows you to amend the panel of the aircraft your installing the gauge to. IMO this is a huge gaff on an otherwise excellent product. At the present any aircraft that has more than your standard Shift+#1-9 2D pop ups in it's VC forces you to use the "alt" menu to bring up the GTN uless you go into the panel .cfg of the aircraft and re-number and re-configure them. I mean good gracious why couldn't they have given the pop up window a keyboard command? :Black Eye:
  9. Ok Thanks that helped a lot and I almost marked this as solved but you have shown me is how to make it persist while changing views. A huge step in the right direction but, I'd still like to be able to pull it up and close it out through assigning it to a key press or button via FSUIPC.
  10. I bought the F1 GTN750 and am getting acquainted with it however one thing that I find a bit annoying, and it seems to be by design, is that each time I switch views in the VC using Ezdoc the GTN will disappear and I have to call it back up by either the alt-view menu path or pressing F10 then going back to the VC and pulling down the GTN stack. Is there a way to assign the GTN view to a button or key sequence so that if I want to bring up the Garmin unit while in the VC I just press it? Surely they made it like any other 2D pop up you can call up by pressing some sort of Shift+ command? Thanks for any help, I did browse through the manual but didn't see anything related but could have missed it.
  11. If anyone is interested in the METRO its 78% off at Simmarket one of the biggest discounts there and a absolute steal for 8 Euros! I like the plane but I should have held out for the seasonal sales...
  12. Noel you didn't mention it but do you happen to have Flightbeam's KSFO installed?
  13. Noel if your not put off by not having a native installer or a modern FMS then the Cool Sky DC-9 is an absolute Gem of a short/medium haul airliner and works flawlessly for me in P3d.
  14. Sounds good I'm just waiting to get my user name and account password. I have other aircraft I can use to get my feet whet first I just hope I don't have to ask anything from HES18 over there on their forums....geez what a grouch!
  15. Hi Keith, I decided to take the plunge and register for an account too. I didn't see the Saab Safir in that list do you know if it's usable within FS Economy?
  16. Nice Brian I'd love to try your packs as well, might inspire me to break out my mike and the old SB Wave studio Software. I made a set for myself and used it with FS passengers several years ago and it turned out great. I had my wife read the flight attendant script in both English & Korean since that's her native language and it was really convincing on flights to and from Korea. It was a shame I lost it in a hard drive crash...should have burned it to disc for backup; live and learn.
  17. +1 I've got no dog in this fight as I do not plan on installing the Steam version of FSX but I can tell you first hand that the exposure on that platform has got to be good for our hobby. My 12 year old son who has little to no interest in Flight Simulation made mention that a couple of his Steam buddies were playing FSX and said something to the extent that he didn't think kids like that sort of game? He has not asked to download it but it'll be the quickest $13.00 I've ever spent on a "steam game" for him if he does. Back on the topic IF there has been some modifications made that reduces VAS I really can't see how this isn't a good thing for everybody. My hope is that if it does turn out to be a genuine game changer with regard to VAS usage that LM can find a way to implement a similar process to hold us P3d users over until a 64bit version is available. Cheers
  18. About 10x productivity increase from LR so that at least 2% of Tony's list is accomplished in 2015. The Glacieral pace of improvement is what really drove me away from XP10 in the first place. Of yeah...and Nicolas T over at the org to just .....fade......away.....
  19. Yes I agree but some folks will like the look and enjoy these textures so for them it's a good thing. I'm sticking to TD 2048 clouds for the time being. To be honest some of the cloud sets from F1 FEX and AS2012 are as good as anything I have seen so far.
  20. I updated without much fuss but when doing so it gave me a message that some .dll files were not found and so world cameras wont work. Not a big deal to me since I didn't use them anyway but curious if it's just me or if anyone else got the same message?
  21. Aghh, yeah right, the old Open GL vs DX debate competition is good but in big business David usually doesn't fare well against Goliath Which is fine by me if it keeps performance up! Reminds me of the old Car's tune... "If the illusion is real let them give you a ride, if they got thunder appeal, let them be on your side" Let the Good Times Roll
  22. Interesting,..perhaps this is why they look so much like XP10 clouds to me? What I'm not quite able to follow is if these are truly 3d volumetric clouds then how is it they can improve performance? Isn't this the exact reason clouds can be so system/fps intensive on the XP10 platform? I'm not trolling here or trying to turn this into an XP10 vs P3d thread I'm just curious. Truly 3d volumetric clouds with improved performance would really be exciting and a reason to switch/purchase but, to me it sounds like having your cake and being able to eat it too? I would love to hear REX's thoughts/position on this or be pointed to another thread or discussion that talks about their direction/intent with regard this product/tech.
  23. I think I'll pass on this; when I look at the screen shots to me they look alot like XP10 clouds? Not necessarily a bad thing but, I'll hold off and see if they are able to integrate it into the TD GUI. I agree with the others who question REX and their marketing methods this release seems like a complete polar opposite to REX SIMAIR; I hope in the future they'll find the middle ground. I have been a bit hard on REX when it comes to SIMAIR and a bit critical of Latitude too but truth be told I am a fan of their products and appreciate the fact that they can take criticism from Simmer's without getting heated. IMO I would have liked to see them make good on 2014 being the year of SIMAIR than to release another stand alone texture pack.
