From personal experience the phrase means that the Weather Radar option is not supported in FSX  Accell , all other elements are working perfectly , the wx system will work if you have that system installed in the main FSX folder , the discussion was animated when trying to get the FSX-Accell version for the PC6 specifically , while its was decided that the vast majority would be using FSX SE there were contrary viewpoints , its quite possible that decision will be revisited .

We are looking forward to closely following the upgrade process , the model , capacity and other particularities will be published , we will  get some pictures from the data center as well , there is room in the rack, I am absolutely blow away by the response to our fundraising drive, Thanks to you the task of choosing specific hardware can get underway as we can now afford to begin speeding things up around here , getting a new look is part of the planned changes .

AVSIM is not a static environment , change is a constant but the content is there as a record of its development over time, much good information remains for your use, I have little doubt there will be further changes given time , the objective is to give it time , your contributions are welcome .

Re ORBX , I agree , only issue is asking Tom for his opinion , Ill need to do some channeling during the next BOD meeting and see if that prohibition has outlived its usefulness .

Earlier in the thread I alluded to the Library database being the primary consideration in choosing the option to upgrade , the bandwidth and library software being separate in cloud hosting options from forums.

The 5K goal is the least expensive server upgrade option and also the path of least resistance for the Library database.

We had no point of view on the FS Labs issue , Staff are supposed to be non political , agnostic and have no stated preference or opinion regarding companies .

Having no discussion on a given topic is supporting a specific point of policy ( No Shitstorms Allowed )  , the subject went vitriolic in an instant , granted I read some awfully funny remarks at reddit as a result of our stance but much like EULA discussions AVSIM steers clear of litigious topic matter .

This topic is about upgrading  servers , if you have an ax to grind go to reddit , they can better appreciate flying sparks, our speciality is flying simulators

Sorry to hear about that ,  slagging developers has always been touchy as it tends to become something of a stone throwing free-for-all like reddit , that's not us , regarding moderation its a thankless job as you so ably prove.

Personally I do my bit to keep the lines of communication open but there are opposing forces at play that will forever be part of the scheme of things, we all want the same outcome , Improve AVSIM , lets start there .

Current donations and advertising are in equilibrium with expenses from our service provider for bandwidth and the rack space the servers are housed in , without extra revenue there is no upgrade  its as simple as that.  Complaints about response times and server down time are not going to see a resolution .

 There are no paid staff at AVSIM , there never have been, its a non for profit corporation and staffed by volunteers .

All funds go directly to maintain the webservers and bandwidth fees , they always have ,

Its ten years old and been running since 2009 , that is its principal issue , current CPU's are faster and can handle more threads , we are limited to 16 split between 2 servers at the moment , having a library database makes moving that to a cloud based host an expensive option as bandwidth usage factors into pricing and the library is a heavy user of bandwidth .
