  1. Rob,

I'm also in Ryanair livery, prior to pushback at Rhodes LGRP ready for the journey to Liverpool EGGP.

    Regards,

    Mervyn

HI Mervyn, did that trip IRL just a fortnight ago, nice views of the Alps there and back

  2. I am having elevator trim issues. It is way too fast right now and results in basically being untrimmable because any trim input from me results in 600 feet or more of climb or descent. Anyone know a fix to this?
hey IMC, try editing the Comanches aircraft.cfg file thus :elevator_trim_effectiveness = 0.25 // default 1.0aileron_trim_effectiveness = 0.25 // default 1.0rudder_trim_effectiveness = 0.25 // default 1.0I've got a CH HOTAS setup with buttons mapped to the trim - changing those values means that more key/button presses are required to change the trim value a given amount. If you've got a "centre-wheel" mouse you can also hover over the (overhead) elevator trim lever and slowly "ratchet" it up and down.101 hours in the ES Twin Comache now :)hope this helpsGreg

  3. In FS9 it is possible to set the spot distance from the aircraft and also the altitude. Is that possible in FSX? I know I can use the + and - but the further away I go using this method the more things become distorted.I just want to set it for say a 1000 feet so I can then have a good view of the airports.regards,Richard.
Hi Richard, unfortunately unlike FS2004 there is no easy way to set "spot view distance" in FSX, my understanding is that distance information is buried in each aircrafts *.mdl file and can't be easily edited. Some addon aircraft have quite distant "spot view" because its necessary for the modelling of aircraft special effects.Workaround - in spot view hold control button and zoom in or out using + or -, this prevents the "zoom" and will slowly move the "point of view" in or out. It can't be saved though and resets the *.mdl default each time the plane is loaded.Greg

  4. It looks like a UTX-USA issue guyswith settings FTX-OFF and all FTX folders de-selected, and with UTX-USA ON heres some pics near central Minnesotahttp://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp55/Lo...nnesota_gps.jpgwith top down view - no lakes..http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp55/Lo...ota_topdown.jpgNow if I switch UTX-USA OFF I get the same picture. However if I completely uninstall UTX-USA ( yes I've saved email order Nos etc :) ) the lakes returnhttp://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp55/Lo...pdown_noUTX.jpgobviously need someone to confirm thisLongers

  5. Thanks Bill - that seems very straightforward I didn't realise the Acceleration SDK version was standalone !I was going by the fsdeveloper wiki which says that "A prior version of the SDK must be present on your PC before upgrading to SDK SP2."Time for an update to the wiki ?*** edit ***the wiki also states that SDK SP1 is included on the Acceleration DVD (which it is :)) to allow the user to install the Acceleration version without needing the RTM version. The trouble is if you click on the SDK SP1 exe it still asks for a prior version to be installed first !Greg

  6. I got stuck with this for a while too, using FSX/Acceleration. The steps I took to get a working SDK in this case.1. install SDK from FSX Deluxe DVD2. install (double-click) sdk.msi in the SDK folder on Acceleration DVD which is the Acceleration version of the SDK <---- this had me stumped for a whileIf FSX and/or SDK is installed into a non-default directory then ...3. Configsdk.exe sets up the registry entries and ..4. edit the dll.xml in - C:Documents and SettingsUSERNAMEApplication DataMicrosoftFSX (for WinXP) or C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSX (for Vista)to point to the relevent directorymore info here - http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?...ation_%28FSX%29Greg

  7. Hello all, seeking clarification.I'm using FSX Acceleration/SP2 and therefore also using the SDK SP1a as stated here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/esp/cc743171.aspxThe page states that SDK SP1a is used "to develop add-ons that are strictly for use with the Acceleration Expansion Pack". It goes on to say that SDK SP2 is used to create add-ons that are for all Flight Simulator X users - by that I assume it means RTM/SP1/SP2/Acc.Therefore, if I suddenly (=miraculously) became talented enough to begin creating stuff for FSX, if I wanted "stuff" to be compatible with FSX RTM/SP1/SP2/Acc. I would have to update my SDK SP1 to SDK SP2 ?Hope that makes sense ?Greg

  8. Hi Zevious, I run in windowed mode when using some FS9-ported/non-FSX native aircraft where the cockpit tooltips become "blocky" and illegible in my FSX/Accel(SP2) setup.I like to see the tooltips in some of these planes because it gives me info about trim tab positions, engine gauge readings etc, helpful in micro-managing for endurance flights :) This is only cure for this for my system (GeForce card), short of going back to SP1 ...I must admit though, having to go into windowed mode is slightly annoying ..Longers
