I saw this a few days ago and found that if I turned down one of those radius sliders (can't remember which one as I am at work but I think it was the top left one) this went away. I am guessing that that setting exceeded what my card/CPU could produce, although not sure really. It is over the ocean and so should be easier to draw than over land, but anyway, turn that slider down one notch and it will go away.

My install seemed to go without a hitch. What indication did you get that something went wrong?

P3D V4 - Can't get rid of microstuttering
beachdog2001 replied to Boeing100's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Basic maybe, but you might consider defragging the drive with a professional defrag program if you are not using a SSD and haven't done it in a while. Did wonders for me after all the installation of new P3Dv4 stuff. Forgot about defrag and drive had gotten to 20% fragmented. -
Performance difference between Nvidia's SSAA and P3D's own?

Are you guys doing these tests with dynamic lighting enabled? -
For me, downgrading drivers did not help, but upgrading to the newest driver 382.53 made all the difference in the world on the 747, no frame drop at all with dynamic lighting enabled and all lights on, 8XSS enabled, 980GTX. Wow, good find, whoever discovered that. Bill Barrette

Is this the right time to upgrade to Windows 10?
beachdog2001 replied to darth_damian_000's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
My understanding is the i7 7700k cpu/ASUS Strix motherboard I got require W10. This is why I upgraded. Now that I have, besides having to relearn how to do simple things all over again, W10 seems OK. I thought W7 was excellent also. Because I upgraded from a i7-3770k/W7 to 7700k, impossible to say if W10 is faster because, of course, it is now waaay faster than it was. -
V4 dynamic lighting FPS hit
beachdog2001 replied to chapstick's topic in PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II
Could also be that this dynamic lighting thing is one of those forward looking next gen hardware things, kind of like FSX was in its early days; no one had a system that could run all the sliders to the right at first, remember? Then came the i7... If FSX had been designed to fully run with then current hardware, it never would survived 10 years and would have sucked by now, or soon after. Now with dynamic lights off and not getting any lights at all? That is something else and shouldn't be. My system (i7-7700K/980 GTX) as well for some who knows what reason gets hammered 50%+ with dynamic lighting on and all other sliders to the right with the 747 sitting at the gate at KLAX but I still have landing lights showing and the area is lit up with dynamic lighting off. Haven't tried a flight yet, will do that tomorrow, but if I want dynamic lights, I am going to have to turn other things down, like autogen radius, for example, a big fps killer. Nothing wrong with that it seems to me. If this option can be better optimized by LM or PMDG in the future, great. But I guess I don't expect to be able to run this new simulator with all sliders to the right and all boxes checked with my current hardware. Two years from now? Who knows? Do I want to wait for LM to get this right before I can use P3Dv4? No. What I AM going to do is uncheck that box for now and enjoy a very smooth flight with detailed scenery and AG out to the horizon with AS16/ASCA clouds, detailed airports, moving cars, no OOM's at 30 fps with most of the other sliders full right in the 747. I will leave full autogen radius, 4096 textures, full dynamic reflections, full right and far shadows, and dynamic lighting for the future. Just sayin'... Bill -
Won't be long now and we can see how v4 runs with actual complex addons. Should be quite interesting now.

ActiveSky 16 close to v4 release

Do we have to reinstall the HD ASCA file I wonder? Anyone seen anything about this? -
Anybody seen FPS at Heathrow in V4 yet?
beachdog2001 replied to glider_uk's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I was playing around last night at Heathrow coincidently and on my system the auto gen radius has a big effect, most of the other sliders, not so much. Fps went from 15-20 with AG radius full right to 45 fps+ on the middle setting on my setup, so clearly a big impact (sitting at the end of 27L, all other Scenery sliders full right). Of course, this make sense, right? Drawing all that AG out to who knows how far away has just got to hammer the system. Actually, even at 1/2 setting, there was plenty of AG and everything looked great to be honest. Could be we need to recalibrate our expectation of what this slider is and means and how we use it. -
Please help me fine tune the flight controls in P3D V4

I turned the sensitivity down to like 10% on all the axes and it seems to work a lot better, Saitek yoke and pedals. -

Prepar3D V4 addons compatibility list
beachdog2001 replied to ark4diusz's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Looks like Ultimate Terrain Xtreme products will be upgraded to P3D4 free of charge, according to their forum. New installers should be available before release of P3D4. How about that? So GEX and UTX will be free. Now I wonder about Scenery Tech landclasses. Nothing new on their website since 2009. Bill Barrette -

I only get this error now after a certain, but variable number of switches between full and windowed screen viewing. I just save now before switching and this problem is now just an annoyance. Doesn't seem to matter what aircraft. Bill Barrette

How to change the NGX's default instrument screens?
beachdog2001 replied to roarkr's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
I think you can use the save panel option in the FMC to do this. Go there and select Home Cockpit and the panel will load in every flight with this setup. Bill Barrette -
Level D 767 for P3D Now Available
beachdog2001 replied to ZKOKQ's topic in The Level D 767 | Wilco PIC 767 Forum
So far, everything seems to work without any real trouble at all. VAS is like 2.2 GB, lol and plane and liveries look great. I am a United guy, so I got the new post merge and blue and white tulip liveries installed and easily so. Andre's VC mod works and looks good, door opening gauge works, gauges are very sharp, aircraft runs at like 50 fps on my 7700K system in the virtual cockpit, lol. Same exact great plane as you remembered from FS9 and FSX, just P3D. Of course, VC is dated looking, but...still...one of the best addons ever made for flight sim, so I can live with it for now. Oh, one thing...need to update the nav database; it is from 2007. I searched through my DVD backups and found a more recent database for the LDS. Thanks to LDS for this present out of the blue! -

I got the winglet version to work by installing them manually. For some reason the winglet texture gets added to the non winglet texture folder and aircraft.cfg. I didn't get an error though when I first tried it. Had a winglet version that I was installing. This update is the best news I have had in a long time. Bill Barrette -
Wow, something to watch during those long hauls. Nice find. Do they have these for the 747 as well? Haven't really searched the site yet admittedly. Bill Barrette
