  1. It is already "tomorrow" here in NZ. 😉 3:15pm, Thursday 23rd Feb as I write this. Can't wait any longer!
  2. Wow. I'm excited by reading this post. Unfortunately, I've stumbled across it just as I'm about to head out the door for a regular Friday night catch-up with mates. I almost want to ditch them now!! Looking forward to seeing what my hometown airports of NZWN and NZPP (where I logged 25 hours in a C152 years ago) look like. Thanks for your work on this, Kelvin. If it's as good as I'm expecting it to be, I'll be sure to donate. 😄 Mike
  3. We have earthquakes down here in New Zealand, unfortunately, but I'm pretty sure they've got absolutely nothing to do with our weather. 😛
  4. Although I don't think it was intended to be, that's actually pretty funny. It sure made me grin.
  5. I couldn't agree more. I'm already using the image of the Caravan over the waves (a cropped version of it) as my desktop wallpaper on my MacBook Pro. Loving the shallow DoF for this very reason.
  6. Ah. Okay, thanks. Not at all where I expected, as the lush green hills of NZ couldn't be any more different to what you'd find in the Middle East (not that I've ever been to Oman)!
  7. Wow. These latest screenshots are just stunning but this particular one really has my eyes popping. I see it's been talked about a lot already in this thread and I can understand why. I'm not sure exactly where this is, as there are no obvious landmarks (those hills could be anywhere!) but it could easily be any number of places around where I live in New Zealand. I've flown into Wellington Airport (as a passenger) probably a couple of hundred times and those choppy seas and the hills in the background are kinda what you'd expect to see when approaching over Cook Strait and into the northerly "breeze". What I also love about this shot is the shallow depth-of-field that you'd expect from a long lens (something that's also been discussed in this thread). I worked as a TV camera operator for 25+ years, so I'm really appreciating this screenshot from a cinematic point of view. It really is quite dramatic and it makes a change from the "flat" screenshots that we've been so used to in the past. Loving it!
  8. Nonsense. If anyone's got anything even slightly negative to say about one particular thing they've noticed in a video, they shouldn't be required to also give feedback about the other 99% of the video just for the sake of it. How ridiculous. In my paid employment, I'm part of a project team that's rolling out a new smartphone/desktop app that lets volunteer firefighters and their brigades know exactly who is responding to emergency incidents. Although I'm not a software designer, developer, or tester, I'm always encouraged to give the rest of the team feedback (even if it's negative) as the application is developed. I think it's a game-changing product that I would loved to have had in my hands when I was an operational firefighter 10 years ago... but it wouldn't be half as good if no one was allowed to point out some of the areas that were a bit lacking. That feedback has been more than welcomed and the product has subsequently been refined and improved. As far as MSFS in concerned, I'm totally amazed from what I've seen so far and I couldn't be more excited about finally getting back into flight-simming after so many years (I quickly got bored with FSX). I've been keenly following its development since the day it was announced and I think MS and Asobo are doing an absolutely outstanding job. However, that's not going to stop me from posting negative feedback (no matter how trivial it might seem to others) if I feel I need to. It actually helps the developers and it shouldn't automatically be seen to be "complaining". I can't remember who made the "RC simulator" comment (and I'm too lazy to scroll back to find it) but, when I first saw that particular screenshot, I immediately thought that something didn't look quite right with the overall scale of things (particularly the grass). So, when I read the comment that "it looks like an RC simulator", I thought to myself, "Yes! That perfectly describes it!" There's definitely something amiss with the scale in that screenshot that does, unfortunately, make the aircraft appear somewhat miniature (just like the "small" buildings next to the overly massive trees in one of the New York City screenshots awhile back). None of that changes my view that, overall, MSFS is shaping up to be an absolutely stunning product and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
  9. Nope. Four vids. They're in the same location as previous updates (scroll down past the screenshots, which have no updates this time).
  10. I am and I can tell you that it definitely works.Unfortunately, I'm right in the middle of my busiest time of year for work, so I've had very little time to "play". Looking good so far, though. :)
