  1. (...)

I am amazing how many customers experience this bug but never reported, why?

    Robert Rodriguez

Because it is relatively minor, very sporadic and tough to find the correct setup for reproduction if you don't know what to look for in the first place.

Plus, I don't understand your issue with PMDG support. The NGX is considered mature from a software lifecycle view, and we can count ourselves lucky if we see yet another update to the NGX at all (which I hope we will since it is a very popular addon, simulating a very popular aircraft).

  2. This was indeed actually a bug in our LNAV algorithm that was already fixed in one of the 777 updates (SP1 I believe). Looks like the fix didn't make it backwards into the NGX code though - I will let the developers involved know about it.

Great that the error was identified. I used to fly the NGX a lot and I am now getting back to it. I used to run into the problem described here occasionally and wondered why rhe otherwise perfect NGX would screw up here.

Any chance that we will see an update/patch or do you consider no more changes for the NGX?

    Thank you

  3. I don't know what the Flysimware guys were writing up there, but it is supposed to work as follows on the Lear 35A:

Fuel feed from the tips and wings is automatic. First you will notice the tip tank quantity drops as this fuel is pumped into the wings by the Jet Pumps. The wing quantity does not reduce until after the tip tanks are empty. Each tank has a gauge. If the quantities do not add up exactly, the total reading is the more accurate. However, I personally operate on the least indicating amount (individual gauge totals versus the Total reading).

After the wing quantity starts reducing it’s time to take some fuel out of the fuselage fuel cell. We refer to this cell as ‘the bag’. Select the FUS TANK transfer switch to XFER. The Crossflow Valve will automatically open and the Fuselage Tank Transfer Pump will start pumping fuel down into the wing cells. This will continue until the fuselage cell is empty at which time a fuel pressure switch will sense there is no more flow and the EMPTY light will illuminate. The Fuselage Tank switch must then be selected to OFF.

(From: Flying the Classic Learjet, by Peter D.  Condon).

For me, in the Flysimware Lear it works exactly like described by Mr. Condon. Also, with 2.6, the transfer light will not stay lit but only momentarily light up so as to indicate the transient valve/switch disagreement, as it should be.

  4. I get the same thing using v2.6 and in P3D; flying at FL430, at about mach .780 and using AS16 and ASCA.  There were active thunderstorms in the area and I suspect the oscillations  may be a result of sudden changes in barometric pressure due to the storms.

Just an update in case anyone is interested.

Seems to be a common issue for other guys too:

    http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/pitch-oscillation.437205/

I played around with the parameters given in the thread (mainly pitch stability) and have the unwanted oscillations reduced to a level so that I trust the Lear to fly about an hour or so without me being in the seat and holding a hand at all time.

  5. I found the the Mach hold to be a bit aggressive when changing attitude in order to maintain the mach number.

Up to now, I have only seen excessive pitch down in a Mach hold climb which temporarily resulted in a descent, but not the other way round.

Maybe the auto pilot needs some more fixing so that it won't descend during a climb or vice versa when trying to chase the assigned IAS or mach.

Because I found the mach hold to be generally a bit unstable with regards to attitude, I usually do a V/S climb after FL290.

Depending on how you did your SPD light fix (I assume you did it the obvious way), it should not have anything to do with that at all.

  6. Hi Dave, was away for a few days.

I will see if I can trouble shoot the load manager.  Not running any other addons other than ASN (now upgraded to AS16, but doesn't seem to be weather related and behaves the same when AS is not running.

    Thanks

I am stumped then. Controller calibration is fine as well?

  7. That is generally very true. However, what you can do sometimes is make character for character changes. For example, if the bug is a simple character error that shows up in a text editor, for example a + sign instead of a - sign, you can make that switch with the text editor, but you have to be very, very careful. What you can't do is anything that will change the size of the MDL file or the location of the bits in the MDL file, since it has been complied. Even an extra space will render the file corrupt. So if you are ever temped to try this, the first thing you must do is BACKUP the original MDL file!

    Al

Al, I think we're both on the same page here. I am used to fix stuff in addons, no matter if it means hex-editing MDL files, editing .air files or make fixes in XML gauge code

  8. Yes, I see the same thing. Apparently the AP IAS/MACH light XML code doesn't check to see if the AP is in the VS mode when passing through 29000ft.

I would expect this will get fixed at the same time as the windshield heat light bug is fixed.

    Al

For the time being, I fixed those two issues myself for my personal usage.

  9. Hi,

finally got hold of the new 2.6 version of the Lear via Simmarket this evening.

Two issues were springing right in my face:

    1.

Green windshield annunciator light is on when switch is off, and light is off when switch is on.

    2.

When climbing or descending in V/S mode and passing through FL290, the SPD mode button will light up due to the IAS to MACH or vice versa change. This is clearly wrong and should not happen when climbs/descends are not done in SPD mode.

  10. There are different versions of the Lear35A. For those with the manual 3 position switch the Lear35A manual says:

    "Aircraft 35-107. 35-113 & Subsequent not incorporating

AMK 91-2. Aircraft 36-032 & Subsequent not incorporating

    AMK91-2.

The WSHLD HT switch has three positions labeled ON, HOLD, OFF. In

the OFF position, no windshield airflow is available. In the ON position, the

control valve is fully open allowing maximum airflow to the windshield. The

HOLD position is used to stop the control valve in any position between fully

closed and fully open. If a change in airflow is desired, set switch to OFF

or ON until desired airflow is obtained then set switch to HOLD.

    TO ACTIVATE THE SYSTEM

    1. WSHLD HT Switch - ON. The green WSHLD HT light will come

on when the control valve begins to open. If the red WSHLD OV

HT light comes on, the overheat shutoff valve will automatically

close until the windshield has cooled, then open again.

    2. To reduce flow in the event of excessive noise or system cycling:

WSHLD HT Switch - OFF, until flow is acceptable, then HOLD."

There is a setting for the green WSHLD HT light in the interior.MDL files that apparently didn't get changed when they went to the 3 position windshield heat switch.  I expect it will eventually get fixed.

I have been flying this a/c 3 or 4 times per week and like it more every time.

    Al

Thanks for confirmation. So it's a bug.

Well - one of the disadvantages of baking almost everything directly into the binary .MDL file instead of having the logic externally coded in XML gauges: we can't fix problems ourselves.

  11. Depends on the manufacturer, but generally yes. might be a bug for that reason.

So, I did some reading in "Flying the Classic Learjet" in order to shed some light on this.

When operating in AUTO mode, the green windshield ann light is indeed supposed to come on. I may cite:

"Placing the system in the automatic mode is accomplished by pulling the IN NORMAL/OUT DEFOG knob out and placing the AUTO-MAN switch in the AUTO position which opens the defog shutoff valve. The green WSHLD HT light on the readout panel will light."

I have not yet tried if it works like this in the new 2.6 version since I got the Simmarket update information only this morning.

It may not be a bug after all, but some great modeling of an intricate Learjet 35A detail

  12. Agreed, this is one of my current favorites.  I just recently added the FSFX immersion pack, totally worth it.  And if you haven't gotten the REX radar yet, its also well worth it!

Got the rex radar already. Also flying with theF1's  GTN 750.

Like I said before. The Lear 35 is currently the only addon I am flying, and as things go, it is likely to stay that way.

A superb package which perfectly meets my simulation needs.

  13. Using the loading screen manager, light/medium/full fuel options make no difference to roll issue, nor do any combination of loading passengers, bags or cargo.

Have you double-checked with what FSX/P3D reports as fuel/pax/cargo load? Somehow, I don't trust the custom Lear load manager.

Are you running any addons, like Accufuel etc?

  14. I checked the download from the use store and it's the 2.6 version, guess it's out!

It's out?!? Well, I've got to wait for Simmarket to update the download.

I noticed with ver 2.6, the green Windshield Heat annunciator light is on when the switch is off, and goes off when the switch is on. That seems backwards to me?? The windshield heater makes quite a racket, so I leave if off unless needed, which means the green light will usually be on. I believe the Windshield Heat light was off when the switch was off in ver 2.5.

Thanks for the continued support/updates Flysimware.

    Al

Sounds like a small inverted logic bug.

My thanks also go out to the Flysimware guys for supporting the Lear 35 addon that gives me so much of a good time with flight simulation.

  15. Flysimware have updated their site

    http://www.flysimware.com/website/LEARJET_35A_UPDATES.html

telling us about the upcoming 2.6 version.

Fine stuff, most welcome. Good to see that the Lear is stil receiving the developers' attention. It's a great addon and I find myself flying nothing else lately. So addictive. Maybe that's why I have become picky about it.

Hence,I am missing a word about fixing the out- of- sync main/standby altimeter kohlsman setting and the non-working pressurization cabin climb/descend rate indication.

  16. Question for you Lear 35 drivers, still loving the package, but have one question:

My Lear always wants to roll left when flying. Power, weather, speed, altitude, nor loading seem to matter. Even when on AP in level flight, it banks to compensate to keep a straight course.

Not a joystick issue, as no other planes do this and the VC yoke is centered. Probably missing something simple, any ideas?

Otherwise, love this package! Apologies if this was asked before, I flipped through forum and google'd but didn't see anything.

    Thanks all!

Never had this. Are you certain that you loaded tip tank and wing tank fuel and pax/cargo symmetrically? That's about the only reason I could think of.

  17. Well, I understand you, but I rather have GTN750 then some FMS Carenado style. There are few business jets in sim market so everything new is welcome. MilViz LJ60EX is what could be interested in you since it will be equipped with PL21 and Uni FMS, but that will probably come in next millennium :D

I get your point. Nobody wants a Carenado-style systems simulation.

However, as much as I do love and appreciate the F1 GTN units, developers should not slap them into just about every new addon aircraft out of convenience because they don't want to develop an FMS/avionics package that is faithful to the actually modeled aircraft.

  18. LJ35A with GTN750 is the best plane I ever flew in the flight sim.  Can't wait for Falcon 50 to be released.

As long as they consider doing the Falcon without Collins Proline avionics but Garmin integration instead, I am not too excited.

While the real-world Learjet 35A has been upgraded with all sorts of avionics, among them the GTN 750 and other Garmin elements, I haven't heard anything like that of the Falcon 50.

  19. Decided to get a copy of the new Milviz WX Radar (currently 50% off) to try with the 35A....

Man, with the GTN750 and the WX Radar both working side by side in the panel, this is a particularly fantastic package.  Flew around some stormy ASN weather last night, what a treat.

Very impressed.  Smooth on the frame rate to boot.

Will be flying this package quite a bit I foresee.

    Welcome to the club.

Been flying hardly anything else lately.

  20. As much as I do like the Flysimware Learjet, I must warn potential buyers that the autopilot glideslope tracking using the GTN750 just is not reliable yet. I have rev 2.5

Using either radio localizers or GPS with vertical nav, the LJ will couple to the glide-path, but as I approach the airfield, it may spontaneously de-couple and switch back to the 'armed' state, thereby losing control. The GTN works perfectly with my other aircraft, so it is not to blame.

I am disappointed that this behavior has not been corrected yet by Flysimware.

    Dave Swigert

I have never seen that problem. Make sure your speeds don't fall too low on approach.

For me the thing flies perfectly stable at 125-130kts IAS on an approach down to minimums, depending on weight.

  21. Wow. The screenshots are really stunning!

If the systems simulation and flight model/performance is up to the visual standards as well, we should get a real gem here.

Anyone knows if they do the Avcon/Rx mod with the tailfins and the bigger tip tanks with extended fuel capacity?

On looking closer, the F1 Lear 35 is apparently modeled after a plain old Lear. No thrust reversers. Old FC200 autopilot.

Going to keep the Flysimware one....

  22. For me, Flysimware's texturing of the Lear 35A is absolutely adequate and balanced, thus yielding superb performance even in areas with dense and detailed payware scenery.

What good is resource-hogging 4k textured model that is shipped without a paintkit and with a buggy, incomplete and partially just plain wrong FDE and systems simulation (y'all know who I'm talking about).

I see no action required in the texturing area. If anything, I'd like to see Flysimware address the remaining systems simulation issues (the inop cabin climb/descend rate gauge, the too high fuel burn, the standby altimeter not being in sync with the main altimeters etc).
