  1. In the case of Orbx you will need to update the objectflow.dll file which is on the Orbx website.  Not sure but I think FTX Central can do that also.

ASN has a update on their website for 3.1.

FSDT, FlyTampa and Drzewiecki Design caused no issues of any kind for me.  I have no PMDG aircraft so can't speak to that one.

You don't have to re-license any of your addons.

In my case I did run into one scenery entry that caused a problem:

  2. If you want to have a fully capable 3.1 system (that you could install from scratch in the future) the 9.8 gb download is that as well as having the capability to update the client from 3.0 to 3.1.

Go ahead and download the 9.8 gb and save it.

Go to control panel and uninstall the client only.

Unzip the downloaded file to a location of your choice.  There well be several files created, one of them will be client.msi which when your run it will reinstall the 3.1 client and you will have to re-license but that is somewhat painless.

There should be no issue with scenery, addons etc.  In the case of Orbx (If you have any of their products) you will have to download their latest objectflow.dll from the Orbx website.  I think (but not sure) you can use FTX central to accomplish that also.

In my case I did run into a problem in the scenery library with a addon (not a very common one) which caused some issues with 3.1.  It took me awhile to figure it out but once I found and removed that entry 3.1 worked perfectly.

  3. The 9.8 Gb is the full up package however when you unzip it it will create the client.msi as well as scenery.msi etc. files.  If you already have 3.0 installed just uninstall the 3.0 client using control panel then use the unzipped 3.1 client.msi and reinstall the client.

  4. Hi Gerald

Thanks very much for the input, very helpful and informative indeed.

"For VFR flights, the Native ATC interfacing is very good.".   I think that was the answer I was looking for.  Maybe I should get a bit better on handling the IFR flights/Landings and make the Ultimate version worth while.  Do you think the lite version will ever be developed for P3D 2.5/XP10?

    Thanks again.

    John

  5. I posted the below on one of the stickys but no response as of yet so trying here.

I am interested in MCE but the vast majority of the flying I do is VFR (i.e. KSDO to KIWA etc. using GA: Baron 58, Carenado A36 etc.), I am getting too old and feeble to handle commercials, I can't land the darn things, I always take out the terminal buildings, parking lots, freeway on-ramps, pedestrians etc..   Is MCE overkill or would I find it useful for my short flights?  The website says it supports all FSX default aircraft so I presume that is the case with P3D 2.5 also?  I use XP10 on occasion for VFR so I would be considering MCE for XP10 also.

Would I want ultimate or lite?

    Thanks for any input.

  7. "Assuming you can follow the setup instructions, which is quite an assumption because they appear to be tailored to FSX, not P3D, and possibly include irrelevant and incorrect remnants from the v5 setup instructions, the simobjects.cfg entry that was entered in my config was incorrect. It pointed to a non-existent "Aircraft" folder in the P3D main folder. Once I changed this reference to the correct folder in the main MyTraffic folder at the "C" level on my system, I then had MT AI traffic.

One shouldn't have to go through this with payware."

Same experience here.  After all this time I certainly expected a much cleaner installation process.  It took me awhile to get it all sorted out on P3D 2.5.  The installation instructions are as clear as mud.

  8. I have MyTraffic3D Pro working in P3D2.5 and will purchase the upgrade license to version 6 out of respect for and gratitude to the developer, Burkhard Renk who continues to support the flight simming community after many years and I suspect has expenses like the rest of us.

    Cheers,

  9. Hi Stephen,

I need to be cleared up on something.  I have used the OpusFSI weather system for some time and it works well.  I have never tried the camera systems or the TrackIR interface so I thought today might be a good day to experiment.

In the manual for OpusFSI it clearly states that the TrackIR Advanced Tab and Games MUST show "OpusFSI" as an available option.  I am using TrackIR 5.2.2, have updated the supported games list numerous times but the only one I ever see is Opus and never OpusFSI.  I only briefly tried connecting Opus with TrackIR with no success but I was concerned that not seeing the OpusFSI entry in TrackIR might be the problem so I thought I had better ask about that before proceeding with trying to find out why they are not connecting.

  10. Just to bear in mind - PcAviator Australia and PcAviator USA are distinct companies. A lot of people including myself have had problems with PcAviator USA - But I can speak highly of PcAviatior Australia, who I've bought a lot of downloads from. Dean from PcAviator Australia did his best to help get in contact with PcAviator USA when they wouldn't reply to emails about a subscription for PcAviator magazine, that I never did receive (apart from a couple of copies), despite paying up front for a 2 year subscription.

PcAviator Australia is a very reputable company.

    Eugene

You are correct about PCAviator Australia.  They are a fine company.

I had the same exact problem you did about PCAviator magazine.  I paid for two years, I got an announcement from them that it would cease operation but be picked up by another company which I never heard from.  Multiple emails from me to PCAviator USA concerning it went unanswered.  Over the past five months I have received 3 emails (obviously "canned" emails) from PCAviator USA stating I had not ordered from them in well over a year and asked for my response to the email as to why I had not ordered recently.  I responded to all of the emails voicing my concern about their support, responses etc.,  None of those emails have ever been responded to.

My experience with FSPilotShop, FlightSimStore, SimMarket and others have all been very positive with quick responses, problem solving etc.

  11. Yes.  No problems at all. As long as you have UTX *ABOVE* Vector in the scenery library (UTX install will default to this) it will override Vector in areas that UTX covers and Vector will continue to function in areas not covered by UTX.

    Vic

    Thanks Vic,

That all makes sense.  So it is your opinion that UTX P3D is better than Vector 1.2 when it comes to the USA?

If that is the case then I will order UTX today.

  12. I've been testing both the FSX and P3D versions and they are exceptional. In P3D I have FTX Global, FSGlobal and Vector and UTXP3D makes a noticeable difference in the US and so far, I have found no issues with Vector.

Be aware - turning UP moving road traffic can cause a noticeable performance hit. You have two settings in UTX (RD1 & RD2) which essentially give you moving traffic on fwys (RD1) or other roads (RD2). I had my road traffic at 10% and it pushed the system.

Just activate or deactivate the areas and see how it affects your system. The default is to have RD1 active and RD2 inactive.

    Vic

I just want to be sure.  You are using the new UTX USA for P3D 2.4 AND Global Vector 1.2 with no problems between the two?  I first ran across this thread this morning and am qualified for the 50 percent discount on UTX USA.  I have Global Vector 1.2 installed in my P3D 2.4 and it just seemed to me there would be some conflicts but on the other hand I am certainly no expert when it comes to these issues.

  13. "Thanks, will it control default traffic? I have 7 AI aircraft setup atm, is that OK?"

I have not gone that far with it in XP10 so I don't want to give you a bad answer.  Try it!.  All you have to do is run XPUIPC, XP, P2ATC and click connect.  You will have an answer very quickly.

  14. I have used it quite a bit with XP10 and it works just as well as P3D 2.4.  Don't have FSX here.  Of course it is dependent on what limitations i.e. traffic, lack of gates at some airports etc. that XP10 has but other than that the voice recognition etc. works great in XP10.

  15. I have never seen Pilot2ATC mentioned on this forum so I thought some forum members might be interested in it.  It is not free but in my opinion well worth the money.  It works with P3D and X-Plane 10.  It has excellent voice recognition built in as well as a lot of other features.  I have absolutely no financial connection etc. with the author.  I just like it and thought others might also.

  16. I suspect you might be running into the same issue I had when I installed it on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit yesterday.  It might be a simconnect problem.

I already had simconnect.msi (version 10.0.61259.0) installed previously and the manager appeared to not load or work.

As a trial I installed simconnect.msi (version 10.0.61242) and the manager worked correctly.  For some reason it does not work with the normal P3D 2.4 simconnect.

You can find the different simconnects in \Your\P3D Folder\Redist.  There are three versions in that folder.  Try it, it might work.

  17. Someone might want to run some definitive tests because some things don't add up. I have two 780's in SLI. Running two monitors - one for flight and other for ASN, Plan-G, etc. Prior to DSR I manually set up a downsampling resolution of 2560x1400 in Nvidia CP and I could definitely see a positive effect in P3D in SLI mode.

Running DSR just effectively sets up another downsampling so I don't see that it WOULDN'T work in SLI mode.

That said, the resolution appears in P3D and I select it - haven't noticed any BIG change from my 2560 set but I also haven't noticed the text size reduction others mention.

    Vic

    Hi Vic,

Thanks for posting this.  I have a very similar setup to the way you have done yours.  Could you please share how you installed DSR, settings etc. for those of us who are mentally challenged when dealing with this modification/addon.  I have not even tried to deal with it yet, I am starting from scratch. I am using the Nvidia 344.11 drivers, I presume I need to update to a later driver?

    Thanks

    John
