  1. actually it appears that I have found the problem, it only happens with feelthere's EMB jets addon. Which is probably why I didn't notice it before. But i've flown that aircraft in windows 7 with fsp before and it didn't seems to give me any issue. So i'm guessing it's a windows 8+aircraft+fsp problem. Something combining all 3 makes fsx crash...I tried other aircrafts, and the crash is gone. Thanks
  2. Yes, but fsx is only using about 1.5G of system RAM and about 530MB of VRAM.(in fact during cruise it only uses about 900M system RAM) So that only adds up to 2GB of the 4GB fsx is capable of using. And i have zero crash or stutters whatsoever (FPS limited to 58 using nvidia inspector) without performing fsp's cabin service. So that's why i assumed it's a compatibility issue with something...based on your experience, what programs/addons are known to cause problems with FS passengers?
  3. Thanks for the fast response, the fault module according to appcrashview is "unknown". Yes I have tried reinstalling fsp and fsx, no help UAC is the first thing i disabled once I got windows 8 I didn't install FSX in system partition, and i'm the only user on my computer. Sharing was disabled i just enabled it, I don't think that's the source of the problem tho? My settings are rather high, but i'm checking my resource usage it's using nowhere near the limit. 4.2GB/12GB RAM, and 608MB/2048MB VRAM, with fsx taking up about 1.5G of systam RAM and ~530MB of VRAM. Plus it doesn't crash at all if I do not serve food/drink to passengers. and I never got any OOM errors. I have noticed, however, that it happens 99% the time when I minimize fsx or switch it to background(running browser). If i keep fsx window on top, the crash is a lot less frequent. (Running in windowed mode). But like I said, only happens when serve drink/food, no problem with minimizing or background switching whatsoever if flying with fsp without service, or no fsp at all. 4. Hello, I'm having this weird FSpassenger problem where whenever a cabin service is performed, FSX will CTD, throwing BEX error according to appcrashview. Initially I thought it has something to do with the mini panel and the buttons, so I switched to automatic service, and exact same thing happened. After a minute or so after cabin service, FSX will crash. I have tried a flight without service, and sure enough, it did not crash. Pretty sure it's not the menu crash, since flying without fsp or service it does not crash, period. and i do have the uiautomation.dll fix applied. Tried reinstall, nothing. After some searching, found only about 2 other people experiencing this. I'm running windows 8 pro 64 bit, but that should be irrelevant, as the other 2 ppl reported the issue before win8 came out. And other people managed to use FSP on windows 8 just fine as far as i can tell... Oh yes, playing a movie/music on the ground does NOT lead to a crash. Only drinks and food. specs are relatively new (see sig), so shouldn't be hardware related...as it doesn't crash without performing cabin service: (I have posted the same on fspassenger forum, but since that forum is not active at all, going to try my luck here)
  5. Today while I was playing GTA IV after a bit of FSX, the monitor suddenly went blank. Monitor showed no signal DVI. Initially thought graphics card driver crashed, Pressed Ctrl+alt+del and ctrl+shift+esc, all nothing. Hit reset button on the case, nothing. Hit power button and held for over 30 seconds, nothing. Turned it off by turning off the PSU. After a while, powered up PSU again, opened the case, pressed the power button on the motherboard itself. All lights and fans came on as it should, but no image, and motherboard does not POST. No error beeps or error LEDs. Attempted to hit the reset button on the motherboard itself, nothing happened. Hit power button again on the motherboard itself, nothing happened. Had to shut off PSU again. Did not see any trace of burning, temperatures are normal. Had this build for over 2 years, and everything was running at stock speed before it went down, so no overclocking involved. GTA IV should not be the problem, as I ran the game millions of times before. I have had a couple of time when the motherboard failed to POST initially on power on, every time hitting the reset button solves the problem. But it had no problem POSTing on power up for the last 2 weeks, this was just a sudden and complete failure. PSU is an Ocz unit, 600W. Providing enough power for all my components for the past 4 years. With no new components added in the past year. Power draw for the system at max load is around ~340W. I don't think it's the PSU's problem if all the lights came on when I hit power and it was fine before? PSU failure normally lead to no lights at all, right..? Graphics card is a MSI GTX 560Ti 2GB. Twin Freezer. Never had a problem before. I think it can be factored out as the source as the motherboard won't POST after the crash. Failed graphics card will lead to no image, but should not lead to motherboard not POSTing. CPU is a AMD Phenom IIx4 965 BE. Temp are fine before. Hitting 58C max with 4 hr stress test, GTA IV should not be pushing it anywhere near its limit. Was overclocked before, but when it failed its running stock. RAM I have two sets, 1 set of corsair 4GB(2x2GB), and another set of G.Skill 8GB (2x4GB), making it 12GB total. Not the most ideal setup, but never gave a problem. Tried taking them out and plugging them in individually already, no help. Plus they are there for 3 years+ at this time, never touched them. And RAM failure should lead to an error beep I believe? and as far as HDD goes, don't think they matter as mobo does not POST. The motherboard is ASUS M4a79T Deluxe, running 790Fx chipset. AM3. Any diagnostic steps I might have missed? Does this sound like a motherboard problem? Or could it be some other components? Thanks.
  6. I'm just wondering if there will be a 2D cockpit for the NGX? So far i read about no discussion about 2D cockpit whatsoever. I'm happy that the aircraft got a high definitation 3D cockpit, but clicking in 3D cockpit is just not fun at all....I know aerosoft 's A320 won't have a 2D, that's a huge disappoint to me, i hope that won't be the case of NGX..NGX will be my first PMDG product, and i know 747 and MD11 have 2D cockpits, so i'm really hoping NGX will continue that trend. I did not buy the ariane 737NG partly because the lack of 2D cockpit, so now i'm keeping my fingers crossed for NGX. I like to takeoff and land in 3D, but during flight preparations i really like 2D cockpits better.
  7. i just finished a flight, and it appears to be working fine. Hopefully it will stay that wayThanks for that file!
  8. ok i'll try that.I just have to put it in right? I don't have to add it to dll.xml or anything like that? Cuz i didn't see any window that ask me if i want to run it or not.
  9. Thanks for all the quick reply!@Jim, video driver is the newest nvidia driver, which is 195.62@crewecut. I had ESET antivirus, but i had it for a long time, and i never had any problem with it...Didn't do anything to BIOS, temperatures are all in the 40s. The system is perfectly cool.@BMG. I thought that thing is only for 64 bit vista and windows 7..? but i'll give it a try anyway(never have to use anything like that before), ty@Ulfb. I upgraded my PSU long time ago because of the graphic card upgrade. I have a 650W Ocz PSU and it's more than enough to handle what i have. And i do not experience any problems with other games.
  10. Hi there,I have recently brought a new hard drive and i have reformatted my system. However i noticed that my FSX starts to crash very often now. When in the past it never crashed at all. I'm using the same addons, using the same OS, using the same hardware(except for HD)..and i don't know where the problem is..I always play in windowed mode, since i know full screen crash more often. This generally happens when i try to open a menu(EX: right click to change view spots, go to options on my menu bar to start/close time acceleration etc...)I'm using windows XP SP3. and this have never happened to me before. So i don't think it have anything to do with addons. does anybody know where the problem might be?
  11. i DO think it means what it reads. 2GB is like the minimum RAM required to make windows 7 usable(Altho MS says 1GB, but seriously you cannot use the OS with just 1GB memory). So if you want to run a game on the minimum line, most likely you won't have enough memory. I have 3GB of RAM myself, and i'm under XP, when i run FSX with addon aircrafts like PMDG etc, i use about 2.6GB of RAM out of 3G(My OS takes around 700MB). With scenery airports etc, it stay right below the maximum load, which is around 2.88GB, once it go over 2.88G, FSX will crash and say i runout of memory. and XP after sp3, and FSX after SP2, i do believe FSX can now use over 2GB of memory in XP...(not really sure, but at least i think so)I'd say upgrade to at least 4GB of memory if you want to use vista or windows 7 to play FSX. Upgrade to 6 or 8 if you want good performance(which means upgrade to 64bit OS as well). 3GB MIGHT work, but if you have too many background processes going, i don't think it's enough. And this is exactly the reason why i'm still using XP when everyone around me is using windows 7. And i'm not planning on switching OS until i can get 8GB of RAM in my system(Not to mention FSX run much better under XP, i get around 15fps increase running FSX under XP compared to vista). I have tried windows vista, and it use 1.65GB of my RAM just for running all the processes...windows 7 might cut it down a bit, but it's not a big difference.
  12. do you mind sharing the settings the Nvidia Tech people set up for you?
  13. this is some of my friend's screenshot, with ATI 4850 graphic card..and i do not see any rough edges on the tail or livery...
  14. Hi all, I don't know if i'm the only one with this issue or what, but i noticed that the default FSX anti aliasing option works real crappy with Nvidia cards. I have friends using ATI cards, and i can find almost 0 stair-step edges from their screenshot, all of their edges are real smooth. However, on my Nvidia 9800GTX+ card, i can find TONS of those, which really make me mad. I cannot stand those stair step lines on the wing of the aircraft and on the livery...and the nvidia control panel don't seem to help.I have also tried nhancer, it did kill lots of the edges, however for some reason, it's giving me a blur effect in FSX, where everything in FSX becomes blurry, gauges, menu,etc..so i disabled it again...so if there any pros out there that can help me with this issue? Idk why is nahncer causing the blur..since after i restored the settings to default, the blur disappeared immediately..i'm using XP sp3, and FSX SP2. Thanks for helping!i attached some screenshots showing the rough edges on the livery and the tail and wing(might need to be placed at original size to see the edges i'm talking about) ....which for some reason..never appeared on ATI cards....i know ATI cards are known for their display quality, but i went nvidia anyway cuz of their performance. But there is this big of a difference?
  15. true.....didn't think of that xDbut the good news is i spent all morning reinstalling fsx again, and for some reason this time it worked! idk wat did i do but who cares xD....now its updating normally and everything is fine:)weee~
  16. just woke up...xDYes, it's lockedYes, it does recognizeNo, it does not. :)
  17. i'm dual booting, i'm playing FSX and using this software under my XP OS. Yes my FSX was running..weird cuz i used to always start FSX first then ASX and nothing happens o.OI tried start ASX first, but still it would not update my weather..it's downloading weather data all right, but it's just not putting it into the flight sim. However all the connections are normal..i can see the ASX is connected message on the screen..I am signed under an Administrator account, and this is the only account available on my computer. Do you have any idea on why it cannot access my Application data folder? I have unchecked the read only on the folder, but the system automatically put it back on read only...thank you for your time
  18. YesTried, same resultApplication Data folder is checked to be "read only" I have unchecked it, and now ASX won't open up...PS: i'm using XP sp3thanks for your helpEDIT: I reinstalled ASX again, and now it opens, but the error message still exists..
  19. Hi all, I've been using ASX for a long time now, over 1 year. However i recently reformatted my system and ASX won't work anymore! Everytime i start ASX, i get an error message saying "FSX station files must be modified. Please close FSX first and press OK to continue". So I can only start ASX before i start FSX. At first i thought it doesn't matter anyway..However as time moves on, i realized that ASX is not updating my weather like it's supposed to be. It will say "ASX is connected!" first, and then "ASX is updating the weather depiction"or something like that, at this stage, my weather do update. However, then at last, when it displays "Weather depiction update complete!" Or something similar to that, all of my weather roll back to default! And it won't change if i move to another area. However when i shut down ASX, my weather will update to the weather condition that's in ASX before i closed it. So it's not updating when it's on, and only update once at the time when i turn it off...what's wrong with this? I have tried reinstalling FSUPIC and ASX and FSX, but none of them seem to work...it's just not working for some random weird reason...any idea on why is this happening? I have attached the message below, thanks for helping!!BTW:i am using SP4
  20. hmm..i downloaded the file from the file library.. however this is just the reverse landing effect tho...how did he get the smoke when the plane is taking off..?
  21. All i'm hoping is that one day FS can use a quad core CPU efficiently, so clock speed would not be as important as now.....it really sucks for people using prebuild PC and the manufacturer lock the BIOS for overclocking( I still can't think of a good reason for manufacturer to do this...) when i got my computer i did not think of playing FSX... and i just went for the shortcut to buy a prebuild. Well...no matter what this is the last prebuild i'll ever buy..well no matter who makes the next FS software, if it does not come with a full quad core support i'll be very disappointed...
  22. i do have FSX SP2 installed, but i don't see those effects at all...all i see the the water from the wheels, but not the engines..
  23. well, i'm using World of AI here, with traffic on around 50%. And on the runway, when i'm not looking at the AI, my frame rate goes up to 40ish, then when i am looking at them, my frame drops to 16ish...So i guess they indeed are frame eaters...
  24. I was wondering if anyone have any idea what addon it is that can give the water blowing effect when taking off on a wet runway....I searched all over the place but i can't find any. I just thought this is a very realistic effect. It would be really helpful if anyone know what it is. http://static.youku.com/v1.0.0052/v/swf/qp...A=&showAd=0starting from 0:21. You can see when the A320 is thrusting up the water blows into the air. It also happens when engaging reverse thrust on a wet runway, which is around 3:21. if you can't see the video, this thread have some screenshotshttp://bbs.fsxcn.com.cn/viewthread.php?tid...;extra=page%3D1sorry about the sites being in Chinese, but when i asked my friends on FSXCN, they have no idea too...So i was wondering if it's a fs2004 thing or what...
