  1. IMHO the vague anonymous stars are there for a reason... and it’s not to dissuade you from making a purchase, it’s to give a false sense of security when making a purchasing decision. Pretty much the norm in all in-game or first-party marketplaces...
  2. Then don’t buy it... read reviews before purchasing... ask others what they think about it... Be a smart consumer...
  3. The sense of entitlement from some people in this thread and other threads discussing third party products is overwhelming. Until you’ve tried to create an airport from scratch, or an aircraft from scratch, what idea do you have on how many buckets of blood, sweat and tears it takes to create something that this self-righteous and entitled group of know-it-all’s decides is ‘good enough’. Wow. 😟
  4. Here's virtual $5 that says those who say they don't need any third party add-ons either move onto something new within 3 months (or less), or complain about the lack of quality third party add-ons in the same amount of time. Alternatively, they might eventually be whinging about people not buying enough livery packs in the in-game marketplace to support 'further development' by Microsoft (e.g. Star Citizen).
  5. Yes, and it will tell you there is a conflict but it can be ignored. The cockpit and external view modes are separate control states wherein settings for the cockpit view don't work while in external view and vice-versa.
  6. I haven't experienced stuttering in the TBM specifically, as I recently took it from KSEA to CYVR and the only stuttering I experienced at times, I believe, was due to the scenery loading.
  7. Guys... let's be real here. I like FS2020. I like "Virtual Cockpits" that were introduced with FS2004, nothing felt better than sitting behind the simple panel of the Sopwith Camel and chugging along at 60kt. HOWEVER You're assumption that nobody should ever need an option for a 2D cockpit is pompous and self-righteous beyond belief. The proselytizing on this forum, wherein one must accept it, move on, or like it without complaint or question has got to stop. This isn't Reddit or ResetEra, where your opinion is decided for you by the majority and all heretics to the Word are bullied into submission or exile. This is AVSIM, a place for people to discuss flight simulation. If some guy asks a question, he shouldn't expect to be berated and face a Soviet style shaming session because he does things the old way or a different way than you. Quit the bullsnot. How about, instead of belittling those who don't play or think like you, just don't respond and go find another thread to group-flagellate in.
  8. The single biggest sin for me is the complete and utter lack of documentation.
  9. I'll NEVER understand why people agree with or even encourage removing features that other people find useful, just to signal their support for a piece of software. There are a myriad of reasons for having a 2D or forward looking cockpitless view. Just because YOU don't need it, does not mean its not useful or necessary for others. Come on man, no one doubts the size of your love shrine to the FS2020 cult, it's okay if we could get at least one of the dozens of missing features in FS2020 that we've been using for nearly 40 years... your deity Microasobo will not be angry and punish you if you're not 100% satisfied with their product and crawl over broken glass begging and bleeding for basic features and mechanics necessary for simulating flying an aircraft.
  10. It couldn't be all of the excellent 3D modeling and texture work, right? 😉
  11. We aren't the target audience... we are the core base that MS fall back on if their marketplace items don't sell well enough. Think of it like this, we are the weekly customers to a restaurant or store and the liveries are for the sale customers who only show up because of the pretty advertising. Pretty much FS 2020 in a nutshell.
  12. Do you happen to have another peripheral that uses Xinput such as a keyboard or side board that has analog input? Also, do you happen to be using Steam and have Steam managing your Xbox controllers?
  13. I second anything from VKB. I use a VKB Gladiator MKII (no longer available) with an MCG (Modern Combat Grip) and it's the best joystick I have ever owned (and I've owned A LOT of them from all manufacturers). Well worth the price. https://vkbcontrollers.com/
  14. If you want to setup the external pan view to work like all previous iterations of FS: 1. Set your hat on your joystick or throttle as shown below 2. Set your sensitivity settings in Options > General > Camera This results in the external free view to move like in the following video:
  15. You can set it to both, even though it says there is a conflict. The action only works in the appropriate view. I use a VKB Gladiator MKII with a MCG Pro grip and it works fine for me.
  16. Dude... let me break it down for you... You are running at 1080p. You don't see the reason to go to 4k (or 2k I suppose) and "loose" FPS. If you raised your resolution above 1080, you would lose FPS. Many people use resolutions above 1080. That may be why they have lower FPS... Thankfully, for us, you keep your resolution lower so you don't loose your FPS upon us. 😄
  17. How's about one of these fine beauties? https://virpil-controls.eu/shop/grips.html https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product_cat=vkb-joysticks-and-rudders I have a VKB with the MCG (modern combat grip) and couldn't be happier.
  18. Steam version is no better. Steam installs a 1GB installation then launches MSFS 2020 to download everything else, or so it says... instead for me it's stuck at 1% on the core files with no end in sight. Overnight resulted in no movement... complete disaster of a launch.
  19. Absolutely not smooth here. In fact I'd call it an absolute disaster. Troubleshooting for hours, stuck at 1% on core files.
  20. Metro Exodus is hands down my favorite FPS of the last 5 years (The other Metro games are excellent as well, but Exodus is 4A Games Magnum Opus IMHO). Rich in story and immersion, with a great soundtrack, and well worth the price of entry at full price. Be sure to pick up the two DLC stories as well, and play them AFTER you finish the main game (one of them spoils the main story and the other is best enjoyed after playing the main story to flesh out a location you visit).
  21. The only place that I know to get the Scout is from Flight1: http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?vid=flt1sf&pid=RealAirACA
  22. I think the registered version of FSUIPC even includes an option to keep multiple throttles in sync via an on/off toggle that is usually mapped to a button.
  23. Try this to make sure: Disable TrueSky Disable EnvShade (disable and restore option in EnvDir) Clear shader directory here: <%appdata%\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\Shaders> Run P3Dv5, take a screenshot Enabled EnvShade Clear shader directory Run P3Dv5, take a screenshot Compare screenshots
  24. https://www.togaprojects.com/post/envshade-is-now-v5-ready
  25. I think it will be product by product. So far everything that I used in v5 is working with v5HF1.
