Sky Simulations proudly presents the SP1 (Service Pack 1) for our Mc Donnell Douglas DC-9 for FSX .Based on user requests, we've released this Service Pack 1.This are some of the characteristics of this package:-New Panel and general re-arrange for the DC-9-51.-EPR RAT now displays in big size.-Fixed Lights problem.-New Flight Dynamics for all series.-Cabin signs in 2D Panel and VC.-Auxliary Fuel Tanks on DC-9 41 and 51.-Fixed Overhead lights. For More Info about this update, Click on the DC-9 product's page, under additional downloads-Product updates section. .

  2. Regarding the autothrottle...

The autothrottle adjusts the throttles to obtain and maintain a safe flying speed as calculated by the speed command system. The No. 2 speed command system must be in approach mode to permit autothrottle engagement. Based on the speed command signal, the servo drive moves the throttles to achieve computed speed. At touchdown the autothrottle is automatically disconnected by the spoiler actuator. The servo drive is connected via a clutch which means that an autothrottle command can be overridden by a manual input. There are no maximum thrust limit switches, and autothrottle must be monitored to prevent over boosting the engines. Autothrottle operation is restricted to the approach phase. When engaged, it will maintain the minimum speeds as given in the speed booklet, providing the calculated aircraft weight is correct. This system is rather "clumsy" and since speed control in a DC9 is not a problem, the system was almost never used.

  3. the autothrottle works
What do you mean by this? The DC-9 autothrottle was a system used for approach only and there wasn't even a way to set the speeds on it. Most pilots never used it because it was considered unreliable and rarely did what it was supposed to.

  4. I think I saw someone else tell me that one too about the "109" issue.More I found...1. Ducts pressurize without turning on APU Air.2. APU Air pressurizing only the right duct.3. Powerback impossible (reversers engage, but don't "power up").4. EPR incorrect (2.05 is the best I could get).5. In-air turns, rudder appears to "flutter".

  5. Okay, -50 started. Just took a reload of the aircraft...must not have loaded completely.But...The IAS/Mach hold features of the autopilot don't work. I started playing with the VS selector and it moved the plane, so apparently, they're not working correctly. Can anyone confirm this? Also, I took her up to FL250 and started doing some stall tests. With 50% load in a DC-9-51, it stalled at 165 clean, 120 with 40+gear (normal landing config) and 145 with 5+gear. Those numbers are close, but then on approach just before that, I stalled with 5 deg+gear at 165ish. So, something isn't quite right. Also pay attention to the EPR vs. the N1. Does anyone else notice that the EPR is reading low?

  6. I think my plane loses energy even with the APU or external power connected because the instruments and the lights (no nav lights) appear as if it had no energy
Try resetting the APU Bus and make sure APU power is selected to both the left and right sides. Also, if you are on ground power or running from the generators, the APU power buses should kick out.

  7. Check around, I'm sure someone has done one.If not, use a scenery editing program like FSX Planner or Airport Design Editor and you can easily change the parking assignments for the gates. Also, I have the DC-9-51 paint for this bird now. Just took the -41 textures and moved them around to fit. If anyone wants them, drop me a PM. I would upload them but, eh...library... :(

  8. If you haven't already done so could you forward this list to "support@skysimulations.com"
That was the first place I posted it. :(
Heres some pics at DTW in my Favorite "old" airline with my favorite plane. She's getting ready.
I think you need to update your AFCAD. The McNamara terminal is south of you. :(

  9. Bought and tested. My first impressions are good, but I have a few of gripes:1. RAT gauge is hard to read. Needs to be "clickable" so that it "pops out" and can be read.2. I confirm what others have said, overhead brightness adjustment knobs acts more like TOGA power.3. Altitude "alert" on autopilot does not have acquire mode (as it should, at least with later models).4. Turn knob (aka bank hold) is inoperative.5. The -40/-50 models are lacking the auxillary fuel tank.6. Stall speed seems close, but a bit high.7. Power envelope needs slight adjustment (too much on high end, not enough on low end).8. Seems to "bleed speed" more than expected in standard banks.Exterior models looks nice, most systems are modeled, and you can choose the panel color with the livery installer (I presume every livery can have it's own panel color). I don't care for VCs, so I haven't tested them in this model. 2D panel isn't stunning, but it's not bad.I did notice that they "textured" the side windows, so, if you're in 2D mode and look to the side, there can be a slight delay (depending upon your system) while that "texture" is drawn (including the transparency to see out the window). Not an aircraft bug per se, but something I've noticed is the "norm" in FSX.Overall, if you're considering purchasing this, I would not be afraid to do so. I think a SP would resolve most of the issues which, overall, are minor compared to other packages I've purchased from other vendors.
