  1. Thanks very much for this. I'll try it as soon as I can
  2. Hi all I've recently encountered an issue where, many times, my aircraft tab is greyed out once I've started a flight. This never used to happen & have no idea how it started, but it seems to be related to the fact that now, after landing if I want to select a different aircraft, & the tab is not greyed out, then FS crashes. Does anyone have any ideas?
  3. Not sure if this will help, but recently I had a similar problem. With the default flight at KSEA the heading is 340 degrees. On the aircraft it showed 360 degrees. After thryng the magdec thing & many other things, I finally read somewhere that someone had had this problem after installing a new scenery. So I then disabled all my addon sceneryes & that fixed it. It took quite a while to determine which one it was but I finally did. The offending scenery was in the Middle East! I have no idea how unrelated sceneries can affect each other but the do. I would suggest try uninstalling newer sceneries first. I really hope this solves your problem - I know how frustration it can be with FS
  4. Hi GraemeThanks again for the help. I didn't think DX9 would work in Windows 7, but I'll give it a tryRegardsBrian
  5. Hi BryanThanks very much for all the infoI have the standard Windows Media Player & also Winamp. I don't know if Winamp is capable of doing what you have mentioned but I'll uninstall it & try running FS without it. You mentioned the DirectX run-times. I've only been able to find those for DX 9. Are there any for DX 10 that you know of? I definitely only have 1 sound card so that's one potential issue that I can rule out.Just one more thing comes to mind having read your post. Probably about half the time I open FS, the FSSound.dll message comes up. I solved that long ago in WinXP in the Old Modules section of the cfg, but, although I have it there now, for some reason it keeps popping up. My guess is that they are related in some way. Any more ideas?I'll let you know once I've uninstalled Winamp. Thanks againBrian
  6. Hi GraemeThanks very much for the reply. I probably didn't make myself very clear. I did read the instructions in the FAQ & did put the file in the correct windows folder. However, the problem still persists. The aircraft does work without some of the sounds so this isn't a huge issue - just an annoyance.I'm just hoping that someone else has has a similar issue & can tell me how to fix it.
  7. HiI hope you can help. I have recently upgraded to a Windows 7 64bit OS. Since then the 737 has the FS@Audio.dll issue that has been mentioned in numerous threads. I have placed the fine in the sysWOW64 folder, but the problem persists. Having said that, I have found that if I click a couple of times when the error comes up, the aircraft will eventually load & fly, albeit without some of the sounds. Any ideas?
  8. Zvonimir - good observation. When they did the certification they used ATC students & Student pilots for the pilot stations & had qualified ATC's in the "tower". So yes, it can be used both ways & some of the ATC students said that it gave them a better understanding of the "other side" of their jobs.I want to upload some video of thm in action because just from the pictures you cannot really appreciate what's been achieved here. When you sit in the tower, you really do have a 360 degree view of the airport & all the runways line up, monitor to monitor, exactly. Hopefully I can do that soon
  9. For anyone who may be interested, there are some updates on this project. Have a look :http://www.dooley.co.za/WX360%20ATC.htm
  10. Some of you may be interested in this:http://www.dooley.co.za/WX360%20ATC.htmThis runs off 25 instances of FS2004, 19 computers in the main consol & another 6 in the control / instructors station. It is a CAA certified simulator based at 43 Air School in Port Alfred, South Africa. I've been somewhat involved with this project for a number of years & had the privelage of going to Port Alfred to install it, with my son & the rest of the team, prior to certificationWhat is particularly interesting is that the simulated tower has a full 360 degree view - a huge achievement in FS! More info on the website.
  11. Thanks very much for that. When Bob mentioned the gravel kit I did a search & came up with the same thread that you mention here. Anyway, I've been doing a tour of Canada & had downloaded some Canadian liveries which used the "G" model, so I'm assuming that those airlines use them, so I guess I'll just leave them in. The one I'm currently flying - Air North uses the "N" model though. Thanks again
  12. Thanks all for your replies. I think it may have been the AES pushback that I was thinking of. I recently downloaded the demo & tried it. I'll have another look
  13. Hi allFirst off, almost all my airliners have the groundhandling gauge in them which I use for pushabck - a really great addon! However, fairly recently I remember downloading a freeware aifrcaft the had a built-in pushback which was partially operated by the rudder pedals. I took it out for some reason & then the other day I thought I'd look at that system more closely. Only one problem - I cant, for the life of me, remember which model it was, & can't find it in my backups!Anyone have any idea which aircraft it might have been - or panel or gauge? Thanks
  14. Yip, that was it. Thanks again Bob. When I loaded a different model it wasn't there. Thanks for the great support!
  15. Sorry - 1 more related question. What is the trolley type thing that I see attached to the nesewheel when the aircraft is on the ground, & is there a way to make it go away?
  16. Thanks Bob.It must be another aircraft that I'm thinking of. I'll put the one that I had in the previous versions back in. By the way, thanks for the really great work on this. I am really enjoying it - it's much more like the old South Afircan Airways 737-200's that we used to have now. RegardsBrian
  17. How does the pushback work. I'm sure I read about is somewhere, but now, for the life of me, cannot find itThanks
  18. If all else fails, try rebuilding your FS9.cfg. That usually does the trick
  19. Thanks all for your great suggestions & help. This is what makes this forum what it is!I think I'll try turning the sound off on my next flight for starters. Thanks for the liveact.net link. I've never heard of it before. I'll see what it's like.Vatsim - I've used it pretty extensively - and IVAO too. I do agree it's the best way to fly in FS. There are only 2 drawbacks for me. I fairly regularly don't have access to the internet (wherever I am at the time) & often there's so little traffic that one might as well fly offline, without AI traffic. However, when it it busy, it's really great! Anyone who hasn't tried it should.I did try Radar Contact once, but I found the voices way too robotic. It did have much better features than the default FS though. No idea what ever happened to the disk, but I see there are later versions out anyway. I read somewhere that there's an expansion pack to improve the voices. Anyone tried it? Does it make the voices more realistic?PFE - never heard of it before. I'm assuming it statnd for ProFlight Emulator? Has anyone tried this? How good is it?Thanks again all. I now have some sort of idea of where to go from here
  20. I hope somebody can help with this... When (default) ATC is ready to issue my aircraft approach instructions, it seems to do the same for about 10 other aircraft, all immediately one after the other. This slows down my sim substantially for 5-10 seconds, then all is fine again.Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop ATC doing this?
  21. Got it, thanks very much, Scott. No idea what you mean regarding changing the byte etc. but I'm going through the textures as I write & changing the offending ones. Hopefully this will solve the issueThanks again all for the info thusfar
  22. Thanks for the replies.I have searched the AIG site for the alphasearcher.exe, but cannot find it there at all. You don't perhaps have a link, do you?RegardsBrian
  23. Is there a program that allows one to tell whetther a texture has a alpha channel or notI suspect this may have something to do with my intermittent stuttersThanks!
  24. Sorry I can't tell you what the errors were. I was in too much of a hurry to repair so just clicked. I remember there were 153 of them though! Clearly my system was overdue for some maintenance!
  25. Sorry, there was one more thing that I did. I ran Regcure. That did bring up numerous errors that were related to FS, so that could also have been what did it. Hope you sort out your OOM
