Not to over use the word in this thread, but PERSONALLY... I can't wait for a Passenger Simulator.  In fact, that's IT!. I'm tired of waiting, and I've allocated resources towards developing one myself.

Now, mind you, you won't be able to visit the flight deck - and why would you?  I mean, it's a "passenger" simulator after all, not a pilot or (another over used term) Flight Simulator.

Not to worry though, we're planning to model plenty of features so you won't mind not being able to visit the flight deck.  Just some of the features are:

    1. Start at the cabin door or in your seat,

    2. Have to located space for your own carry somewhere in the cabin,

    3. Simulation stops and shifts to a pursuit in GTA (sold separately) if you remove your your seat belt or get up from  your seat when the Seat Belt Sign is illuminated.

    4. Your choice in cabin crews... Stewards/Stewardess or Flight Attendants.

    5. Working window shades

    6. Ability to watch movies on very small screens.

    7. Order select items from the menu, which will appear so long as you have your seat tray down.

    8. Of course, animated seat trays.

    9. A working map in the display directly in front of  you

Hoping that Bryan at FS2Crew will step in and provide passengers with attitudes, putting their hair over the heat, and putting their stinky feet everywhere they shouldn't be.

People who enjoy flying long hauls will love this one.

It used to be that people wanted realism based flight decks, handling characteristics, NavData, moving maps, EFBs, shared cockpit, animated ground crew and vehicles.  Guess we filled up all the good wishes, so the cabin is all we have left.

This is (of course) meant as tongue-n-cheek, though I will say that after 40 years in this hobby I will never understand the "I wanna see a cabin thing", and I never will.

Dont forget that one obnoxious asshat that shoves their McDonnalds laden flabby butt into your face as they side step down the isle to the back of the plane while looking for the two seats they require with the "special seat belt extension" only to find they are actually sitting next to you for the next 8 hours.....

This might have brought up some bad memories....

That's what I figured. I prefer it this way. More intuitive.

Didn't know thst about the speed cards. Was wondering how I selected different speed cards.

The speed card is selected by the weight you enter in the FMC.

  3. Hi,

Durning the installation at the end it should ask you to point the installation to your FSx folder, can you confirm you are setting it to (C:/program files/Steam/Steamapps/Common/ Fsx {or your relavant directory}) and selecting the Fsx.exe icon in that folder?

    Thanks

  4. Hi, you are correct about the bugs reference's

    - 1st bug = V1

    - 2nd bug = Vr

    - 3rd bug = Flap Retraction

    - 4th bug = Slat Retraction / clean speed

MCP Speed should be set to V2 +10 for safe climbout.

In order to check the bugs are correct ensure you have loaded and checked the fuel and payload of the aircraft vs the load manager (if on a second flight for example, click addons -> Maddog -> reload from CFG)

I can attest the speeds do match to the takeoff and landing data cards. Can you confirm which sim you are using?

    Thanks

  5. Adding to MauB's reply, are you also ensuring the routes you are using are the same including alternates? Also check you are entering the same fuel figures on taxi, reserves, extra etc...

I use PFPX and also cant say I have noticed a difference beyond 200kgs

  6. both you and Signmanbob are correct, to put in a Flex Temp for departure, you need you first turn off the ART and then press the TO FLX on the TRP, afterwhich when you rotate the the temp knob you will find the vaule on the FMA (TARP) display. You will also need the Flight Directors on to see this in the FMA.

Why does course matter, it's an ils.....it shouldn't matter. You could spin the hai all you want because there is only one course to intercept.

Ahsmatt7, check the video below. But for a quick and dirty explanation, we need a defined course for the LOC section of the ILS approach. An ILS works in two separate parts. Localiser (LOC - the course to the runway) which gives us lateral guidance towards the runway (now bear in mind we may also have an offset LOC due to terrain but that's another discussion) and the Glide Path which gives us the vertical guidance. The reason a course matters on a precision approach is that it is there to get us to the centerline of the designated runway. If we are in CAT III conditions and are planning on landing on ILS 33L which has a magnetic course of 334 degrees, we wouldn't want to fly an inbound course of (as an example) 176 degrees (which we actually couldn't as ILS signals tend to dissipate quickly as you get further away from the centerline.

Now in the MD80, the pilot needs to dial this inbound course manually in order to fly the ILS.

  8. For the guys who are looking for detailed info into the shared flightdeck (shared cockpit) features, I highly recommend you look at any and all posts by Dave, I have worked alongside him for 10 years in this area and will tell you he has the top level of knowledge in the functional area as he has worked alongside and brought about every developer who has released this feature. You can find our forums on avsim at https://www.avsim.com/forums/forum/195-shared-cockpits-multi-player-forum-for-fsx-fsx-se-p3d/

  9. RE: Beta Testers

We’re looking to add up to 4 new members to our Flight Simulation Software Test & Evaluation Team.

Our team works with different FS software developers including Aerosoft, Majestic, TFDi Design, SunSkyJet, independent developers, and soon REX Game Studios. We provide Design Influence, Research and Product Test & Evaluation from product inception to public release while helping developers compress time frames and bring quality FS products to the community.

If selected, you will enjoy the latest, unreleased flight simulation software and will be in the rare position of making lasting contributions to lend a hand in shaping the future of the flight simulation. You will also have the opportunity to work and fly with a seasoned team of flight simulation pilots and testers in both single and shared cockpit.

If interested, please see the full announcement located here

  10. The main known issue between the saitek trim wheel and the 737 is that it seems to only like to trim the aircraft in one direction no matter which way you turn the wheel (try to use the saitek to trim nose up, it trims nose up, try to trim nose down it trims nose up), it has been seen in some cases where a nudge of the wheel will cause full deflection up or down (although this is more common in aircraft such as the 757 or 777 where they have a trim lever that gets stuck in the full up or down position rather than a wheel), the only way to counter this (without disconnecting the trim wheel altogether) is to have a toggle switch on the yoke like you see in the real aircraft or throttle quadrant also assigned to nose up/down or use the mouse to recentre the trim wheel inside the VC or 2D cockpit.

Are you using FSuipc or the regular FSx controls for the inputs?

  11. Hi I just a few queries, what exactly is shared cockpit, is that connecting over the Web allowing two people to access the same plane from different PC's. ie Pilot & Co pilot co-op?

What does the failures add? Is there a random option that just now and again throws something nasty at you?

"4 x smoother" anyone notice anything here?

    Many thanks for any input

    Cheers

    Steve

Steve, Shared cockpit in a nutshell is just that, however at OVPA we try to take it a step beyond for the flight simmer, we have several real world pilots who have experience on different aircraft and we try (as much as possible) to bring that to our members to give them a sense of realism in terms of the procedures, crew resource management and more! You should be able to view our past broadcasts on the Twitch website by searching OVPA, I was captaining the DASH8 during the release announcement and me and my co-pilot tried to show as much during that time as we could.

The failures is a default option in the PRO version (but they can be switched off) these will give a crew any failures one may encounter during any real world standard line flight

  12. Only other thing I will add to this topic, in the FMA (Flight Mode Annunciator just above the artificial horizon) check after you hit the APPR button that you have LOC in white in the left column  (where you would see the lateral navigation (LNAV HDG ect...) and GS in white on the right column where you see the Vertical navigation ( ATL, VNAV, V/S ect...) the white colours on the FMA means a guidance mode has been armed (can mostly be seen with a Nav mode such as VOR tracking, Alt SEL or VNAV) once each has been captured (LOC first) they should turn green (meaning it it now active) and take over from the previous active guidance mode.

  13. Beardyman-

During takeoff try the following - Set the rudder trim about 3 - 4 deg to the right, once you have lined up put the aileron into the wind (e.g. if the wind is coming from the right, turn the yoke to the right, apply any further rudder input as required manually during the takeoff roll and as you speed increases slowly bring the ailerons back towards (but not completely) neutral. The Dash is what we call a conventional prop aircraft (Both props turn the same direction so at high power the wash from the props causes a yaw, any excessive trim will cause you problems later, also the tiller becomes ineffective above certain speeds).

As for the landing, again make full use of putting the aileron into the wind, the rudder trim is up to you depending on what power is needed during the final approach, this will help to increase the controls until the till becomes effective, also try to touch down on the downwind main gear, this again will help you much more in keeping the aircraft under control just after touchdown.

  14. I'm currently in a flight with the Citation X  from Van Nuys (KVNY) to Honolulu (PHNL)

I set the initial climb to 43,000 in the VNAV with no issues, further down the route I performed a step-climb with the V-Speed (+700fpm) to 45,000 again no issues, both times the aircraft has levelled off at the assigned altitudes. The only thing I noticed being off was the standby altimeter which I program to the next alternate field's pressure setting.
