  1. Install it in safe mode and don't use EMT (ie enable FSX). With the Eaglesoft installer you have to enter the simulator directory manually, so just point it towards your P3D2 directory. I just finished installing it yest. and it works perfectly, however my whole aircraft shut down during a flight today, and I'm unsure if it's a P3Dv2 issue or my (sloppy) flight management. Probably the latter.
  2. Hi all, A couple of weeks ago I finally decided to (try to) master the NGX's HGS. I found a detailed manual of a similar model and read it through and, with some practice, I must say I'm impressed. However I'm having the airspeed part. I've handflying, doing short hops with no AP/AT and, after reducing N1 to climb power, then cruise, then to idle for initial approach, I'm having trouble controlling my airspeed with the HUD (setting speeds via either the MCP or FMC). I set an N1 "by feel" and following the vector does keep my airspeed in check for the most part. I'm wondering if there's a symbol I'm missing, like a clear designator that shows where the throttles should be, ora table etc. I've read the part on airspeed control a dozen times but it's just not clicking for me, it's a bit vague. Any help please? BTW Links to HGS tutorials would be most welcome Thanks in advance! =) Matt Harris
  3. Hey, I was browsing around and found this: http://www.davi.ws/avionics/TheAvionicsHandbook_Cap_11.pdf It's a crystal clear description of the FBW in the 777, it could definitely extra, condensed info to supplement PMDG's extensive maunuals I don't now if we're allowed to post links here, but I just had to share this one matt harrisbusiness
  4. Mmartinov, same here. After all the lovely heavies, I'd love to see a nimble yet powerful modern jetliner with unconventional avionics. Short haul, for island hopping in Hawaii, or doing a short MIA-;MCO. Yeah the NGX can handle tihis, but nowhere as well as the 717- Personally I'm tired of seeing Boeing's good old FMC and Airbus' cdu (or whatever they call it) Give us a small plane! B717, Fokker 100, Embraer 170-195.. I hate to say this but only take the heavies our for a relaxed flight during the weekend - maybe, fiora good long hay sopin. Otherwise drung the week I have time to spare sped it all setting up the fabulous NGX, (which I adre) but its' all too... Boring... familiar. Now I am not putting down the NGX,m tge .and the 744, they are fantastic. I'd love a smaller commercial jet now. M. Harrisbusi9ness
  5. Crimtye, I own the aircraft you mentioned. It's good but kinda heavy. Chris, a PMDG Embraer would be amazing! The ones that are available now are well done (bit buggy) but they lack personality.Too sterile for my liking. Peter, you're lucky to have flown the 717, it's probably the last 3-2 configged we'll see,And the rear mounted engines are so cool. It has had maybe 20 operators (Hawaiian, AirTran, QF, Mexicana, Olympic now Delta) Aircraft these days are so boring. Long metal/CRFP tube with 2 engines. The Boeings all have the same philosophy, and Airbus planes are all identical. I think PMDG should consider developing a niche aircraft (Embraer, 717, CRJ, Fokker 100) and promote it heavily. 6. Hey everybody, I apologize - you're right I should have read the forum rules before posting. If you need my order number etc please let me know. I'm a very long-time PMDG customer. I lopve the MD series,There´s a company that makes a very good product with the MDs for FSX,, it's probably the most immersive plane our there. All those cranks and pulleys. Guarding her airspeed... Getting her to autoland is a challenge, I would love to see PMDG take on something like that. The B717 "seems" less complex than say the MD83. Ryan I love to take my MD11 out on short hops, and always wish for an MD95. She's a true dream to fly. I don't think that releasing an aircraft that has already been published by another company is bad practice.Especially since it was released a decade ago, like Level-D (but please, enough with the Boeings!) And I think that if a product doesn't do well in the market, it's not necessarily the product itself that's faulty (the MD11 is flawless). It's all about marketing and target audience,.With the MD11 every review I read marveled at the systems,, the complexity, the FMC/CDU hybrid. And they devoted maybe two lines to the actual flying experience. It was marketed as a flying circus, a complex jigsaw puzzle. A newbie would never buy something like that. QW has it right (sortof). You need to appeal to all markets. The irony is, PMDG ALREADY caters for people with less experience with the "Load panel state" option and the step by step manuals (not the encyclopedias, but the quick start guides . I'm not saying you should dumb down a plane for it to sell well, I'm saying that you should consider sending out the message -loud and clear- that anybody can fly it. WXXco does it all the time and their Embraers are NOT easy to fly. And, well, I'm rallying for the MD95 because I Iove eveything about her I'd love to see a PMDG DC-/-MD8X MD9X series. And the 717 is the perfect ship for people who have maybe 90 minutes a day to fly.She forgiving and basically -I think- probably very satisfying; I don't like to press 3 buttons and let the aircraft land itself, I'm after something challenging yet fun. Ok just my 0,2. Sorry again for the name thing Matt Harrisbusiness
  7. Hi everyone, My last post was quite rudely deleted for not using full name  No notification no nothing, So here I am, my name is Matt Harrisbusiness. The main message of my last post was: why can't PMDG design something different. I'm bored of Boeing. Don'y get me wrong, I love the NGX and the 777. I just dream of doing short hops with an MD95 ship and it marvelous avionics but it could be something different: Fokker, Embrar Anything with a PMDG stamp If marketed properly (ie lots of videos showing how relatively simple it is to fly, and maybe a different set of clips for the enthusiast. Just a thought. No offense but I'm not excited about the 744, it't another Boeing long haul ship with similar avionics as the 777 (and, inddeed, the NGX). How about a freh challenge? Matt Harrisbusiness.
  8. Smooth as silk and practically flawless,. It's a safe step forward from the NGX. More immersive but not as fun. Good work! Personally I 'prefer the more rugged feel of the NGX and the MD I don't post here often but I must say I would pay HUNDREDS in advance for a PMDG 717. I simply cannot imagine a more interesting plane to produce,. The Douglas avionics mixed with Boeing's philosophy...especially designed for very short hops. It would be a hit! Pleeeease consider the B717, MSH
  9. Fun short hop, try SAME (Mendoza, Argentina) - SCEL (Santiago, Chile). Both flown daily by LAN on A320s.Computed route from EL PLUMERILLO (SAME, SA) to ARTURO MERINO BENITEZ INTL (SCEL, SC): 3 fixes, 110.9 nautical milesCruise altitude between FL200 and FL200SAME (0.0nm) -SID-> UMKAL (61.0nm) -STAR-> SCEL (110.9nm) The UMKAL2 approach into SCEL is hair raising:http://southerncrossairways.com/descargas/cartas/chile/SCEL.pdf
  10. I'm delurking for this thread, I'd pay in advance for a B717/MD-95! I'm huge on Leo's MD series, they're a thrill to fly - those high-pitched rocket takeoffs!! An MD95 is perfect for those of us who like short hops (the 737NGX too of course) the tail-mounted engines, the seagull-like design, they're such a beauty. Matt Harris- drooling over a PMDG717edited to add name :)
  11. Okay, I've just flown the route three times with no problems, I couldn't reproduce the error. I'd never tried to purposely crash NGX/FSX before, it was funny, I pushed the bird SO hard to get it to flip out, but no dice. Totally solid and stable. Matt.
  12. I'm sorry about that! You're right of course, it was 25R. I got confused because I was initially assigned 7L, I printed out a different SID (BYRON), but then I decided to try the opposite end of the runway, to face the highish terrain there (unfamiliar with the area). I wanted to see how it was displayed. "TERR" was on the EFIS, along with traffic. I only entered 25R in the CDU. I'm positive that I had the TAKEOFF REF page 1 displayed. I've disabled FO displays, so I only use the one CDU. I'm trying to think if anything was out of the ordinary, but no.. except for the CDU refusing my attempts to program a holding pattern at the last waypoint (HOBOA) at FL160. I didn't enter an arrival runway. .. My setup is practically a clean install. I'm using Win7 64.. Once again, I'm at your service if you need any more info. I'm going to print out this page and try it again now, see what happens. BTW, off topic, NGX is awesome, but PMDG really deserves accolades for the "classic" NG. In hindsight, it was absolutely groundbreaking and sophisticated. Hard to believe that you guys (and ladies?) pulled it off, what, 7 years ago? I'm sure that NGX will be seen in the same light many years from now, and that you guys will take care of any remaining glitches to make it as reliable as the good old classic :)
  13. Mike R., I didn't use saved panels, just the setup loaded by default (I was in a hurry to test it!) Please let me know if you need more info. Mike M. that's weird. Jeff, so maybe it's not a hotfix-related problem then? Matt.
  14. Well, I haven't tried it again, will try again later. Basically, here's what I did Loaded GOL 738 SFP (no mods or anything like that) @default KLVK, 15:30. Decided to use default FSX downloaded weather.1. Set up load factor 100%, fuel 25%.2. Enabled HUD, which is not available by default in the Gol 7383. Programmed FMC in this order: - (planned route KLVK-KRNO, LIVERMORE1-SAC-SIERRA3) a. INIT POSITIONb. RTEc. INIT REF (zfw etc) FL210, CI 120d. DEP/ARR: I was assigned RWY 7R. LIVERMORE1 SID. STAR: SIERRA3, SAC transitione. Cleared discontinuities in flightplan, programmed FL160 @HOBOA. Here's something interesting that I just remembered, I tried to set up a holding pattern @HOBOA, but FMC refused (ignored) it. I figured that I'd done sthing wrong, and made a mental note to check manuals later.f. FIX page, entered KRNO dist /30 to have a visual reference when entering the default FSX-set KRNO "airspace" (to request VFR landing)g. Set 27k bump, non-derated CLBh. Set flaps 25 for SFPg. Left default CLB and ACCEL speeds 3a. Armed LNAV and VNAV (etc)4. Taxi, HUD on, TOGA, blasted off the RWY. *Tested Autoslats worked great* Then cleaned up on schedule.5. Tried to stop smiling6. Switched on AP A at about 1400 AGL; everything ok. LIVERMORE1 involves a right hand turn, to intercept OAK RAD060 to dis 23 (ALTAM). Somewhere around here is where I ran into trouble, less than 5 minutes into the flight. The AP disconnected, flightplan lost, FMC "PROGRAM PIN ERROR". I tried to clear it several times. Plane kept on flying normally, no freezes. Considered flying her manually, direct to SAC, then rad028 to HOBOA etc...but gave up in frustration. Might try it again tonight. Yikes I hadn't planned on writing so much, I'm sorry, if this is supposed to be a ticket, please let me know :) Thanks, Matt.
  15. Hi Everyone, Finally delurking here. I decided to do a short rough and tumble flight today, and decided to test the SFP and terrain functions. I also enabled HUD to try out VMC. Gol 738, fuel 25%, load factor 100%. Instead of SBRJ, I chose something completely different KLVK (Livermore) -KRNO. Flight plan LIVERMORE1-SAC-SIERRA3, FL210. The flaps 25 - 27kbump takeoff was incredible, then a few minutes into the flight, AP disconnected and FMC MSG: Program Pin Error. I'm certain that in-flight malfunctions were disabled. I pressed the CLR button several times to no avail. The bird kept on flying. I had the freeze error, but the Hotfix seems to have fixed them. Checked the manuals and they mentioned wiring? Is this one of the "quirks", or is it a bug? Any ideas? Thanks, M. Harris PS For those still in doubt about purchasing 737NGX, I say go for it. My system (laptop) is not exactly a powerhouse, yet the 737 flies like a dream. My FPS are on the low side, but I don't care, as this aircraft is extremely smooth.. that's what counts, I think, it's very smooth and exciting. Other products I've purchased recently had high FPS but were choppy and bland.
