  1. Thank you Robin for a very thorough explanation on how "Natural World" works. Much appreciated. Greg
  2. Would you mind telling us how Howard's Natural World works? I wonder if it is like the VOZ region switcher? Greg
  3. Could we have a review of the payware version of this airport from someone who has purchased it? Thanks.
  4. I completely agree. This is a superb scenery! Greg
  5. ARMI PROJECT - TEHRAN IMAM KHOMEINI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OIIE FS2004 available over at Simmarket and probably elsewhere. Greg
  6. Hello I sent you a private message with a link to a copy of the scenery, which I put in my dropbox account. Let everyone know when you have posted it to the library. Cheers Greg
  7. I agree with Harald. Why do a FS9 version if it is such a heavy burden? Why not just be done with it and tell the FS9 community it is just too much work. This is what many of the scenery developers have done. On the other hand I bet there are many of us who would gladly pay a premium to get a FS9 version of the latest FSX/P3D airport scenery. An extra fee for the extra development costs would be fair. But, for some reason it doesn't quite feel fair when one segment of the sim community is asked to pay and the other segment pays absolutely nothing. I guess if it is something we want badly enough we will pay the price.
  8. Does anyone know why the FSXAI Boeing 787 AI model for FS9 is payware (EUR 12.50 at Simmarket) and the FSX/P3D models are freeware (can be found in the AVSIM library) ?
  9. You are right. Imaginesim was much more definite a couple days ago. Imaginesim No. It seems demand for FS9 airports has finally dipped too low. It's time to switch to Prepar3Dv3, it's faster than FS9 and looks a whole lot better :-) Imaginesim I'm afraid not. We're moving forward with P3D. It's a wonderful future!
  10. I should qualify what I said about Canadian airport scenery. I meant "major" Canadian airports. Roger Wensley has done a phenomenal job doing remote and small airfields in Canada. Back in the day Godzone and Laurie Roach did the same for New Zealand. But there are very few not notch airports of UK2000 quality for the main airports in Canada for FS9. Most that do exist were done more than a decade ago and not up to modern standards. But, I can't disagree with you that in Canada we are slightly better off than our Kiwi and Aussie friends when it comes to FS9. It would be nice if all of us had a professional developer like Gary catering to our regional interests. As I said, UK FS9ers are fortunate indeed. Greg
  11. As a FS9er I am very grateful Gary continues to support our platform of choice with such superb airport scenery. I sure wish we had someone as equally talented and devoted to Canadian airports! UK simmers are indeed fortunate.
  12. Just noticed this June 24 note on the Imaginesim Facebook public page: Imaginesim Well, we're a business. If we get enough calls for an FS9 version then we'll certainly consider it. A version of LaGuardia 2016 for FS9 might be a long shot but this statement suggests a chance. I don't have a Facebook account but for those of you who do and would like a FS9 version of LaGuardia please let them know! Not sure if there is any other means of contacting Imaginesim other than Facebook. Greg
  13. Harald, the method you described is the same way I remove the outdated stock airports when the identities change. As it happened, I was doing just that last evening with Pristina airport (now BKPR, was LYPR). I think another way of doing it is to create an empty airport using the original identity but using AFCAD or similar to eliminate all content. If the new airport doesn't have photo ground tiles then you risk having an offset grass underlay to the airport. Greg
  14. Great stuff Harald. I really enjoy following along. Bagdad is another of those airports that has a new ICAO identity (now ORBI, was ORBS) so you will have to watch that with your AI. If you use the ORBI identity for the scenery (which is pretty good incidentally, you will have to do something with the stock ORBS in AP959200. Cheers, Greg
  15. Ditto. I wonder if someone with a Facebook account would volunteer to contact the developer of these new sceneries and ask that they be posted to the AVSIM Library? Greg
  16. I purchased and installed it yesterday. I can confirm that the installer does not provide an option where to put the scenery. It goes straight into the Addon Scenery folder. I prefer to organize my sceneries by country so that was not an option using the Baku installer. I will have to move it manually to conform with my filing system. The installer also created duplicate area entries in my scenery.cfg file (repeating area numbers already in use) but this was easily fixed by manually renumbering the entries. It did not overwrite anything. I have about 1500 scenery areas in that file and I find most scenery installers do exactly what the Baku installer did in this instance. It is something I automatically watch for. I just assume that the installers get confused if you have over a 1000 areas in the scenery file. Once past these minor issues I can say that the scenery performed flawlessly with very high frame rates during the couple circuits I did around the airport and area in the Ifly 737. I installed the photo scenery version, which takes about 15 minutes to install. My initial impression is that this this is a great FS9 scenery. I did notice very little AI activity despite having massive numbers of traffic files running on my system. Maybe it was the time of day but it seems I will need a regional update! I hope this is not another former Soviet era airport that changed its ICAO letters, making Baku a dead end destination for some of my AI. Greg
  17. I got a similar message a week or so ago but something had actually rolled back the date on my computer. I still don't know how that happened. I reset the clock and all seems to be back in order. Greg
  18. Aerosoft just released the German Airports Team version 2 of Frankfurt. A FS9 version was, at least, not point blank ruled out as a possibility: " The new edition of Germany's largest airport will be published according to Aerosoft for FSX and Prepar3D, however a FS9 version is still uncertain." Does anyone know if a decision was made by GAP on a FS9 version 2 of this airport?
  19. You are welcome. I wish I had known about these before. A couple of the city sceneries are still available via the wayback machine but most are not. Too bad. They look good.
  20. Try using the wayback machine here
  21. This is what was said on the Facebook site: "Sales returns for the our last KATL 2016 FS2004 version have proved to be just too low over the past six months to make another FS9 product viable." I wonder why this airport was picked to test the FS9 market because it is a product that has had many iterations? I bought it on the promise of better performance but it seems a lot FS9ers decided not to invest more money in that scenery. Maybe a new airport would have been a better benchmark? I wonder if there is still hope for a FS9 version of Drzewiecki Design's Baku UBBB airport?
  22. Maybe we won't see anything from Aerosoft anytime soon but other developers still produce FS9 airports. Besides UK2000, recently we got Leige from BDO Aviation; Salzburg and St. Petersburg from Digital Designs; Chisinau from Drzewiecki Design; Kharkiv from Babich design; and Kuala Lumpur not that long ago from A_A Sceneries, which said recently in a FSDeveloper forum that the plan is to do Beijing for FS9. Not too bad for a sim that is supposedly dead in the water. No doubt some of the big name developers are done with FS9. Flytampa didn't respond (as far as I know) to the unofficial FS9 begging forum for its Sydney airport even with 10,000 views, which is probably a record for any of its forum subject threads. Flytampa is not likely to be swayed by any poll, but who knows, maybe some the developers I noted and maybe others might see this poll. Why not show support for our favourite sim. It can't hurt to vote. Greg CYQR Regina
  23. Roger I believe the Military AI works packages often include AI waypoints in flightplans. Also, have a look here: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/using-waypoints.15036/ Greg
  24. Does anyone have the Zinertek - HD Virtual Cockpit for the Level-D 767 and if so can you share your opinion about this update? Greg
  25. One thing you could do is install the Flight Ontario western Canada landclass from http://flightontario.com/dl_fs9.html. I think you will find that it improves the situation slightly and the fields in the texture tiles will be more green than brown and yellow, and closer to the photo scenery fields south of CYQR. I probably should have mentioned this in the scenery notes. This does not resolve the problem that in flightsim the field sizes are tiny compared to the real world fields in Saskatchewan and generally in western Canada. This causes that checker board pattern effect around the airport. Not much I can do about that. The other factor is that there are a variety of ground terrain addons being used by FS9ers such as Ground Environment Pro, which is what I use. My guess is that everyone of these comes with its own colour palettes. Admittedly I developed the airport based on my personal set up. Beyond my suggestion to use the Flight Ontario western Canada landclass there really is no easy way to adjust the colours to match the default fields except by doing a lot of photoshop work. One other possible solution is to render the fields south of the airport transparent so the default fields show through. This is an option I could offer if I do an another update or new version of the airport some day. In the meantime my suggestion is that you try the Flight Ontario landclass adjustment. Cheers Greg
