  1. Does anyone have a working CDU II and PMDG 737NGX for FSX? Everything I see is for FS9. I tried to make a profile but all I get are errors. There is a file, that comes with the VRInsight software, that has the display panel only. The file title reads "PMDG 737NGX" but no mention if it is for FSX or FS9. Anyway the key file seems to be MIA. VRInsight uses the left FMC. Is it possible for me to use the Left FMC screen and create the key file from the right hand FMC. I know....lots of questions but I have no answers.Happy LandingsDave Smith

  2. Well, that's the fly in the ointment isn't it. The Flightsim Store is where I purchased it. Now they are located in Austraila. They sent me an update stating that the item had been "picked" for delivery. But there is no delivery information about it. So it is comming from the ROK to Austraila then the United States. I posted the details in this forum. Thanks for the quick reply. Makes me feel a little better anyway. ;-) The topic will be VRinsight CDU II if you care to see all the details.

  3. I've just one question. How long does it take for an InSight product to be delivered once it is ordered. Do they build each panel as they receive the order or is this a boxed product that a vendor will have on the shelf. I ordered this thing on December 15th from the Flight Sim Store. They sent the usual receipt on the same day it was ordered. The next day, December 16th they sent a confirmation of the order. On December 18th they sent this: The comments for your order areOrder picked for delivery. On the 19th I wrote to VRinsight, gave them the order number, and asked if any action was taken to ship the product.........no reply.........December 20th I wrote the Flight Sim Store and told them I want an answer as to the delay in shippment. Late that evening they sent this: David Smith,A request for support has been created and assigned ticket #000000. A representative will follow-up with you as soon as possible. You can view this ticket's progress online here: ...........Ifyou wish to send additional comments or information regarding this issue, please don't open a new ticket. Simply login using the link above and update the ticket.Kind Regards,Sales Support Is it time for me to tell the credit card company that I never received the item and be done with this? In all of the Flight Sim Store adds the claim 0 days for shipping. But they also have that fine print about the times are estimated.....etc. In this day and age $700.00 is a lot of cash for someone who lives off of a fixed income. Ant comments will be greatly appericiated.

  4. Well...... I have a question that someone might answer. When you purchase a VRInsight product how long is the wait before you receive it? I paid big bucks for the CDU II a week ago and still no panel. When you pay $136.00 for shipping you'd think quick turn on the item. I'm about to call my credit card company and tell them that I never received the item and be done with it.

  5. Careful now. If you are running FSX then you have to make sure the correct controller is selected in the controls setup section. I have the Saitek youke, rudder pedals, and additional throttle quad. If I don't choose the yoke from the drop down menu, in setup, then nothing happens. Make sure you have choosen the Yoke. It will default to what ever device you used before you bought the Yoke. Then you have to go into the controlls setup for joystick axis. Again you must check the box at the top to be sure that the yoke has shown up. Last but not least.....did you install the Saitek software????? if so....uninstall it. It can, and will, over ride FSX for control. If, of course, you don't have FSX then just ignore this.Hope this helpsDave

  6. I have, pretty much, the same system as you do. I started thinking that my video card was holding me back so I ran out and bought a new GTX 460. That improved my graphics but did little to improve anything else.dry.gif I finally started to suspect that a lot of my memory is getting used up. I whittled down every one of the unnecessary programs and services that were not absolutly necessary. Things got a little better. I finally moved all of the programs that I run for on-line flying and discovered two things. My frame rates have increased to 28 from 18 and I am not having any crashes. The frame rate doesn't sound like much but it is the fact that they did increase after moving the other programs to my backup computer. And they were higher than the 25 that I had them locked into. How can this be????:( I have 8 gig of ram and my i7 should be able to handle the processes. My graphics card has 1 gig on it and the system check I ran says that the video has 4060 available to it. My puney brain tells me that I have 1 gig of ram per processor......yes....I know.....it doesn't work that way :( . My thoughts are this. There is a memory problem within FSX that no one has been able to address. Yes, I know, it is a CPU intensive program. But somthing is going on to run our system out of the (here's the catch) available memory that FSX can use. I believe that the problem lies within FSX it self. Someone is going to get rich when they discover how to free up and balance all of the resources that are actually available for FSX to use. *******'s tips did have an effect also. I do believe he is on the right track. The tips I speak of are the adding BufferPools, HIGHMEMFIX, SHADER_CACHE_VERSION, and TextureMaxLoad tips. They did make a difference on my machine.I hope you can glean somthing useful out of my rantings.Dave

  7. Not many people will like this but here we go. FSX was designed as a PC game. When it was developed the authors put the bare minimums required to run the program on the box. Avid flight simmers now added, to the original program, sceneries, new aircraft, Vatsim, IVAO, and utilities. At first look we all say "this is great" but we fail to step back and consider what we have added to an, almost, maxed out product. The rough math would be somthing like [Win version x + FSX + added scenery + added aircraft + background software]. Now we decide that we want to have real time ATC and real time weather. Wait.....what did that box say was the minimums for running FSX????? FSX is already a resource hungry beast that demands a lot from your CPU. Your CPU then needs the memory to store processes that are qued up while it handles other active processes. Now our PC is freezing up, not giving us the expected frame rates, or giving us really bad graphics. We call Microsoft and complain and the first thing they look for is the add-on software. They demand that it be remove or they will not help us. This is because they know that FSX was close to being maxed out when the product was developed. But Johnny doesn't have these problems so it must be the softwares fault:Shame On You: . Lets take a look at the possibilities for this.Johnny likes to build his own machines seeing how powerful he can make it. We, however, have bought our machine off the shelf. The difference here is that Johnny didn't have all of the added software that came on our "off the shelf" purchase. You only need to run msconfig to see what is always running behind the scenes. HP is a very good example of this. When we start our PC we find that HP has loaded processes like HP Backup, HP maintenance, HP trouble shooter, etc. On top of this windows has some extra processes that is also run when the PC boots up. The thing I am trying to get at here is that no two machines are the same. To be able to have your PC run like Johnnys you must have, exactly, the same hardware and software configuration that Johnny has.:( When we turn to forums, to try to solve our problems, we find all kinds of helpful suggestions. Some work and some do not. The ones that don't work leave us frustraited while the ones that do make us happy. In either case we find that the results are based on the simularities between our machine and the machine that the fix worked on. This is because the files used to operate a system with a Pentium four processor are most definatly different than the files used to operate an i7 processor. Are we loading the same files as the author of the fix is? Are we running the same machine configuration as that author is running?:( My contention here is that, for the most part, no two machines run exactly the same. The answer seems to be obvious......run only the bare essentials to boot the machine and FSX. I started out with a pentium four and upgraded through a quad processor to an i7 processor. From Windows XP to Vista, to Windows 7 64 bit. Through each upgrade the problems changed.B) My XP, with a pentium four processor, ran FSX just fine along with software used to connect to Vatsim. It was, however, very slow and I wanted to speed things up. And, I should add, XP and FSX were the only programs running on the machine. I never could wrap my mind around the Vista machine, purchased from HP, enough to work through the problems that I experienced. I then purchased my current machine, also from HP, and became determined to make it work. I have, since purchasing this machine, modified the machines configuration. I started with adding memory to boost it from 6 gig ram to 8 gig of ram. Very little improvment but there was some. Recently I installed a GTX 460 video card which made for better graphices but did not improve performance. I then used my old pentium machine, with XP installed, as a file server and started running the Vatsim, weather engine, and Acars program on it. I realized some improvment. I then weeded through all the extra programs and processes that were starting when I booted up. I did not delete them but just stopped them from starting each time I started my machine. I now have acceptable performance from FSX. This is not to say I am getting great performance by any stretch of the imagination. I am still getting hiccups from Vatsim and ICAO but the graphics are pretty good.dry.gif Finally I would like to address one more issue......Windows updates. When windows updates your system what have they changed? Do any of us really know? Did we start having problems that didn't exsist before? I am personally very leary of the updates. This is not to say that I should quit updating my system and I still have the automatic updates turned on. But after a couple of the updates I discovered problems that I did not have before the updates. Windows 7 is still a mystery to many of us laymen specially where the security issues are concerned but do we really take the chance of not updating when Microsoft says the update is needed?:( These are just issues that are somthing to think about. I am no expert and I do not claim to have all the answers (far from it).

  8. Did you download MSXML4 from microsoft yet? I've been going through reinstalls too. Biggest problem was my Level_D had no STARS or SIDS. System would crash within 10 minutes and then crash every time I re-started after that. Installing the MSXML file cured most everything except simconnect. But I am up and running again.Hope this helpsDave

  9. Not to sound stupid, which is one thing I can never avoid, I can not find a Graphics.ini or Graphics.cfg file in FSX. Exactly where do I go to make this miracle fix to my system. I have a (keep the boos and hisses to a minimum please) HD4650 that I'd like to try this on.

  10. I had that problem once. I uninstalled FSX because a certain piece of software had messed up my system. Come to find out FSX never really fully uninstalled. I even used REVO Uninstaller and there were still bits and pieces of FSX still hanging around. The FSX directory still exsisted under C:\program Files (86)\Microsoft Games and the user files under C:\Users\username\my documents\. I had to manually delete both of these directories. After deleting the directories I ranRegEdit and did a search for FSX. I found over a hundred FSX entries still in the registry. After an hour of deleting the entries from the registry I re-booted my system and then installed FSX. It installed and ran fine after that.Hope this helps.Dave

  11. If you have SkyPE I will try to assist you. My skyPE user name is smithdavidp. I leave mine on so when you log into skyPE shoot me a message. You must be missing somthing because you are too close to the problem. I get that way somtimes and can't even diagnose the simplist problem and then I feel like a fool when someone points it out to me. We'll have to pick a time to tackle this when you have 4 or more hours to devote to it. I am retired so I have plenty of time......er......well......I better say that my activities are not governed by a clock. Raised%20Eyebrow.gif

  12. Your problem seems to be that when you moved things or did a uninstall you did not clean your registry or at least modify it. In other words the info for FSX still resides in your registry so when you put in your disk it reads the registry and still trys to default to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\FSX. An example of these registration entries is like the one I am attaching. As you can see it gives the program name and default location.......in this case Disc 2. No matter if I delete the program....the next time I install it will still load FSX Disc 2 to C:\Program Files (x86) Microsoft Games\FSX because that is what is in the Registry. The registry must be cleared of all FSX entries before trying to reinstall FSX to a different directory. If you changed the location of the program then you must go into the registry and change the entries to point to the new location. Best thing to do here is to remove the program, clean your registry of all FSX entries and then Reinstall FSX and change the default directory. By the way...... this is no easy task. Cleaning your registry, manually, could take 4 to 5 hours. Your best ally in this task is to use a program like REVO Uninstaller. It will not clean all the registry entries but it will make it easier for you to clean what remains.Be sure that once removed both the FSX directory under Microsoft Games and the FSX directory under C:\Users\[user name]\mydosuments\Flight Simulator X Files. Don't forget to empty your recycle bin and then be sure to re-boot before reinstalling FSX.Hope this helpsDave

  13. I had some problems when I deleted some software from my system. The problem was that the deleted program took out Hawaii and Alaska. I did a fresh install of all software and FSX was back up and running. Problem is that when I connect to Vatsim, using FSInn, it crashes FSX. It happens every time. I can even bring FSInn up and it will cause no problem. But the minute I click the Vatsim box the indicator box lights, the message warning tone plays, the message box comes up and then I get "FSX has a fatal error" and then FSX reboots to the main FSX screen.I know this is probably somthing simple but right now I am brain locked.System: Intel i7 Processor with 8 gig ram. HD4650 video card and an ISDN Cable Modem.Prephs: Saitek flight yoke, rudder pedals, and extra throttle quadrant. Also have Logitech USB Pro headset.Operating System: Windows 7-64 bitFlight Sim Software: FSX3rd party software: Quality Wings 757, Level_D 767, FSInn version 1.7, AcarsAny help will be appericiated.

  14. Thank you Bert. I am happy that you enjoyed the review. Yes..... the catapult was one of the issues that I kind of danced around. The catapult operation, during my review, was intermittent at best. I have still not received any feedback from Abacus on this or the other issues that I faced. I just checked the Abbacus web site and they are still displaying their technical difficulties page for their customer support. But.....you are probably aware of this. Thanks for your timeDave

  15. I've been having this problem for a long time. I first notice it about a month ago after playing the game for a while after I just purchased it. After a few weeks, I was really engaged in the game and I started playing flight sessions from 30 minutes to 1 hour. That's when I notice that my game suddenly freezes after 30-1 hour of the flight. I called Microsoft and we went into weeks of troubleshooting steps. They never really "fixed" it, so they decided to send my the Acceleration pack for free. I got so frustrated that I dedcided to restore my computer back to factory settings. Now that my computer was like new again, I started installing all Windows Update ect. and updating components. I installed Flight Simulator X again. Since I've got a freeby (Acceleration pack) I decided to install that too. So then I started playing the game again and it freezes in about 1 hour of flight about 5 minutes after I taxi into the gates.I was really shocked. Now, I don't really know how to fix this problem. When it freezes, the game stops responding and the Windows error messagse say something like, "Flight Simulator X encountered a fatal error" or "Flight Simulator X has stops responding." And then the game is able to restart itself automatically. Here's my system specifications: System InformationOperating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100226-1909) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: HP-Pavilion System Model: AZ221AV-ABA HPE-170t BIOS: 12/21/09 17:01:03 Ver: 5.07 Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Memory: 8192MB RAMAvailable OS Memory: 8152MB RAM Page File: 2416MB used, 13884MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11Display DevicesCard name: ATI Radeon HD 4650 Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc. They said that my CPU could be overheating. Some said to check the size of my power supply, and I went to my computer's manufactured website and my power outage watt is 460.Can someone please help me prevent this freezing? Any help is greatly appreciated!
I had this same problem and this is what I did. I made sure that all of the execuitables, in FSX, were running in Admin mode. I then made sure that all the users, in the security section, had full access. I am the only user of this PC so it does not cause a problem for me. Next I closed down some of the programs that started when my system booted. I clicked Start and in the Search box I typed msconfig and choose the startup tab. I unchecked any box that was not needed to either run my computer or FSX.post-198897-051512200%201281279117_thumb.jpgAfter that I set the frame rate in FSX to 21. I fly Long Haul flights of 8 to 12 hours at a time and have no problems now. I have received the error only when I turn on a program outside of FSX while I am flying. All that I run, while flying is FSX, ACARS, FSINN, and FSUIPC. There are no programs running in the background.Hope this helps.
